  • One of the most interesting scooters on the market today the Italjet Dragster 200 is definitely a head turner. With a design that would se it fit parked next to a Ducati Panigale and suspension technology out of this world it really impresses in most areas but manages to disappoint in others.

    Typically Italian, they impress you and then they disappoint you out of nowhere!! Thank you Alex for another excellent honest scooter review!

      I talked to the italjet rep about it, he told me it's slow because of the transmission, he also said malossi makes a super transmission kit for about 900 euro that really brings to life. While that is awsome considering the scooter is 6100 euro, malossi kit 900 and that akrapvic exhaust another 8-900 we're getting close to a 8000 euro scooter. That's a bit much for a 200cc that's basically just a toy,at least in my eyes.

      @@RideWithAlex Well said and as you and I both said for 6395 euro you buy a MAXSYM 400 that will kick Itajet's ass and with 51lt storage underneath to boot. If you are going to spend 8k then you should get value for money.

    yea .. 20 hp with stock exhaust .. if you put an aftermarket ..you also need to change some settings on the CVt .. rollers ... clutch springs .. pulley spring ...also a power commander because the sport exhaust ALWAYS decompresses the engine ... you have a 125-300cc scooter ... this is what always happens ... on bikes .. its a bit different ... i talk out of experience with my old xmax 2012 250 witch i upgraded it full with malossi parts ..

    When I first heard you saying Panigale I understood "pan of garlic"... 😀😃😄 ...just because precisely as you said it needs a little salt and pepper on its transmission, so the garlic pan will taste better! 😛 We must remember that's an Italian TOY and a styling exercise, so it's not about the price but the joy to... enjoy the riding AND the design. The transmission can be tuned a little bit, of course if you need to. Because any "aglio e olio" recipe needs "pepperoncino"!

    Drop it on the left side and you'd mess up the front steering/suspension set-up. I agree: impractical. Front wheel is 12'', rear is 13''. Disappointing performance from the '200', which is actually 181cc. I reckon my Yamaha Aerox 155 would blow this away from 0-50 kph. All a bit pointless. Despite this, I may be interested in buying the 300 version when it comes out. But I'll be watching tests on here before committing my money.
    Good review.

      My Honda PCX 150 with aftermarket variator is faster than this one. Aftermarket variator might fix the low RPM when accelerating issue. You can hear the engine go into higher RPM after 100 KPH.

  • @lb150t
    @lb150t ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video 👍🏽. If my research is correct the engine is sourced from the Aprilia Scarabeo 200. Maybe if it shared the primary gearing & variation set up it probably would perform a bit better than you say it does .

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I find another 200 maybe privately owned I would like to test it out because I still think there was something wrong with this one, even though the Italjet sales rep said it's perfectly ok.

    Another awesome video. However at 20hp 0-100 in 18,23 seconds is very sluggish. My old jet x 125 at 13hp and 11,5nm could have done better. A scooter is meant to be practical and the Itajet is not. The price at 6k sucks considering the maxsym 400 costs €6,395.00. What is Itajet thinking with this one is beyond me.

    great design and aesthetics from 9ur neighbours but...i prefer the first gen it was exotic and simple to ride.Knowadays design and marketing is similar for executive models especially from taiwan china and Asia in generally.This model is for some riders that want style and roads with short distances.Nice review and honest.❤

      yes the horizontal style.but from 90's and 00's i tested almost everything from scooter and papia (type sym vf) to on/off,enduro ,mx ,supersport etc.A few impressed me and few endure time and heavy wrist..But i think that 2nd or 3rd generation of these kind of bikes must introduced sooner..the time between these products is too looooong...riders generations changed and needs..

    I too, want to like this one. From what I see with your review, it compares to the Vespa GT200 in power. I was hoping for power somewhere between my SH 150i and my BV 350. I bet it takes at least a 1/4 mile for the Dragster to catch my 150.

    The weight is much higher here in the UK? Something like 140kgs? Anyway, this is SLOW and 900 euros for a variator is a complete joke! The Zontes 300 would murder this.
    Does the Italjet have riding modes? Maybe it was in pussy mode? Maybe it needs its first service to get full power?

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  ปีที่แล้ว

      The rep's answer was "Malossi makes an entire transmission upgrade kit for it and it unlocks the power". While that is true for the money it should come like this. The zontes 300 would absolutely murder it no questions asked.
