I remember the government cheese programs when my parents were on public assistance. Grilled cheese sandwiches got me through undergraduate school and law school.

As a small baker, I told my mom this at the time. It destroyed our profit margins in 2022. It was insane how much the price jumped in just a few months. The real tragedy is MOST of the companies engaged in price gouging, these dummies were just so blatant that they got caught. And they'll do it again. 🤦😔#exhausting

That cheese "found" its way to my 80's Black middle class neighborhood. There was such a surplus, ppl were getting it & sharing it with all of the neighbors as we had more of a sense of solidarity back then. Damn...how far we've fallen under "integration"
