I put my dvd-rw drives in the top slot when cases still had them. Have a First gen i7 rig that has two 5.25" bays both contain dvd drives. Core i7-875k, 16GB DDR3 2133, RX 480, Asus Maximus III Extreme mainboard.
The Hyper 212 and H410R are very good coolers, but Cooler Master should at least change the name to V3 when they change socket support. I had to ask in at least 10 local stores until I found a H410R with 775 support. 🤗
It still says in the manual how to install it for socket 775. I got another cooler that said it had 775 support. But no, the mounting bracket for the motherboard was too big. It didn't fit the holes in the motherboard.
i still see used 212 pluses here on the local "ebay" of my country. I even got one and made an AM4 adapter for it for my pc. and for a lot less than 30 euro. Also you should lap the base. No need to mirror finish it but they tended the come quiet uneven from the factory, so you might want to touch it a bit to help with the performance. I did a quick job on mine and got like 2°C lower after a few quick 220-400-600 grit passes

Although I would probably myself get a front bay devices that allows you to put SSDs in it. You know, more LEDs on the front. :) And since I am building a few Win 98 machines this year, I will be burning a CD very soon.
Top for the dvd burner/player ofc, doesn't make sense unless you have the pc on the desk 24/7. Hope the ssd holds up, some of those Patriot p220's had some issues with randomly dying upon a restart just like some old ocz agility 3 ssd drives. I did burn a cd in 2021 last time around. Think it was windows 98 se but it ended up not booting at all on the machine i wanted too use it on. I do have windows xp & windows 7 around on dvd / cd still somewhere too. Btw if you want too try see if you can reach the 1600 mhz memory speed limit lower the cpu multiplier down as far as it will go & gradually step it upwards until you crash.
I have an AM2 AMD Crosshair. Which is was the AMD offering at the same time. The onboard sound card is the same orientation, but the "PCI-E" slot which DOES look like a 1x is actually a little bit physically smaller than a standard 1x. So I'm pretty sure if my memory of building these back in the day serves me correctly, that top slot is the intended position for the sound card on yours.
i had a Q6600 G0 Stepping, overclocked from 2.4 to over 4.2GHz primestable, but let it run at 4.0GHz with custom watercooling. One of the best processors

Fallout New Vegas needed Steam to install. If you use the GOG version of the game you should be fine

I burn CDs and DVDs every week. SATA controller need not be put in IDE mode if you slipstream Windows xp 64 bit drivers using nlite. I do the same.

Бро, Q6600- очень горячий процессор. Охлаждение - башенный кулер нужен. Q6600 собран из двух кристаллов под одной крышкой, поэтому TDP очень высокий.
One of those drive bay blanking plates probably have more metal in them than a lot of cheap modern cases have for the entire case.

Depends on what cpu you pair up with the intel copperslug cooler, a core 2 duo e8400 can be cooled just fine by one at 4 ghz.

The Q6600 is a nice overclocker, with default voltage it goes up to 3000-3400 mhz.

Hyper 212 is a great cooler & very quiet! Q6600 was a fantastic processor with wide OS support. The ultimate modern-classic. :)

Evo 212 ver 1 has a metallic backplate that sometimes shorts motherboards. But probably the versions are so different so they missed the support.
