OMG .Ly Kam Co was my first boss while I was in HK. I worked for him for a year in 1993. He has a Vietnamese restaurant in Jordan Rd (very close to Jordan station). I work over 13 hours/day for him.

I’m so glad that our Hong Kong people played a role in helping the Vietnamese. Hope everyone is safe and well amid the pandemic.

Thank you for sharing your video documentary. I was "the people" arrived in Hong Kong in 1979. The first camp they put us in was Jubilee and we got shuffle around 2 addition camps before we made our way to the US. Overall my experience in the camps was positive, they (Hong Kong / British government) fed us, cloth us and provided sheltered. It was open camps so I was able to explore the city.

Alan SoCal hey I think my parents were in Jubilee camp late 70s and was moved to another came during the 80s.
We ended up in Australia. I was only a kid then.
Glad to see someone from the same camp was able to migrate and got a better life. All the best buddy.

Wonderful documentary. Thank you. I left in 1987 as a refugee. I can relate to many of the stories. So sad.

stumbled upon your video. thank you for giving the marginalised viet community in hong kong a voice. it's a shame how their trauma wasn't addressed at the time and the effects of it are very clearly shown in your wonderful video. great work and thanks again for choosing to advocate on their behalf!

Thank you for this insightful video. My parents were HK refugees and I'm trying to better understand their experiences as well as others during that time.

Many ethnic Chinese (Hoa) in the North were persecuted and were legitimate refugees too. They were not economic refugees.

This guy Lee Kam Kee is totally wrong about the north Vietnamese refuge whom fled Vietnam during that time and I'm is one of them we're Chinese born in VN and have to leave because of bias of our Chinese heritage .

@Reis Aeis We called the country iss Vietnam but the ethinic is Kinh (86% of Vietnameses are Kinh). Actually, in ancient time, there were many ethnics living in the south of China including our ancestors - Kinh people. Then, Han people from the North of China became stronger and moved to the south, pushing our ancestors to where we are now. If you live in China you probably realized that there are differences between Chinese people in the South and the North.
