- Here’s maybe my most important video, there has been a real spike in keyless car thefts recently, and the Qashqai is up there with the most targeted.
These soulless people can unlock and drive away your car in less than a minute using a scanner and repeater transmitter to trick your car into thinking the key is right there in the thief's pocket.

Well done for covering this subject Dan, something none of us want to happen. I did have a car stolen back in 1988. It was an old battered Cortina, parked right outside the police station in Stafford town centre. I'd gone to watch a film at the cinema. Extremely annoyed (understatement) and the cops couldn't do enough for me, and they did nothing to find it as far as I could tell. It was locked and was practically empty. Think I'm going to change some of my habits with this set of keys. Going to order the pouch/s right now.

As a frequent viewer of your Qashqai-videos, I've ordered a set of Faraday-cases after watching 10 mins. of this video :). The €12.99 is well spent compared with the hassle I would have when my car got stolen.
Your explanations in many vids are excellent Dan, well done and keep them coming! Only thing I can 'complain' about, is your sound. In this vid, your volume is a little bit low. Maybe you can up it a few dB?

When the key goes out of range the steering lock engages.
My wife took our keys into McDonald’s to pick up some faux food
I thought I would move the car into a better bay.
Unfortunately the steering became heavy and the steering lock cam on.

Cheers Dan, if you ever find yourself away from home without your Faraday case (self catering/caravan break etc) pop your keys in the microwave oven. Blocks all radio waves ........ just don't forget they're in there and hit start! :)

I have had this case for nearly a year, I found they don’t seem to last long. I’m on my second case in 8 months and can open and start my car without taking the key out of the case. Now this video is older could you give us an update on the cases please? Is it just my luck or is this a common issue? I would still rather spend £7 on a new one when it’s needed than pay my excess😅
Hi, I've just checked and mine still works fine.
You can disable I-key unlock in the settings. Wouldn’t that work??
Hi mate, not sure on other models but on mine there is only the selective unlock option which is that only the door you press unlocks.
I’ve got a 2018 n-connecta and can confirm, you can turn i-key off in the settings
Mr D. Is there a way to stop the radio/aux/cd starting up on its own when starting the car? Or is the only alternative to reduce the volume to zero then turn it up when you want it on?
Hi bud I think your options are to turn the screen to show clock only by long pressing the brightness button (🌞/🌙)
Or as you said, turn volume to zero
@@TheQashqaiGuy Turned the volume right down, and later got a bit of a shock when a traffic alert came on at a slightly more muted volume than usual. Just turned it off then altogether. Thanks for the help again. really enjoying driving the car, although it is still taking some adjustment here and there after driving the Fiesta for three years. The mpg is creeping up to something better, now on 46mpg.
I don't understand why people would want to faff about with the inconvenience of a Faraday cage to protect their car over having the considerable physical effort to press a button to open the car. One of my mates had his car nicked and a neighbor had theirs nicked this week by exploiting this attack.
It's just stupid.
Too bad the “geniuses” that designed these electronic keys couldn’t have them automatically shut off when they are a few feet away from their paired vehicle…

I guess the key doesn't "know" where it is in relation to the vehicle.
or you could just disable the keyless on the fob! my mercedes i just hit the lock button twice
