    i love it. bought for astrophotography but timelapses generally. first couple "circumpolar trails" attempts into it i realized its potential exceeded expectations and started thinking how useful the pro timer could be in other aspects of life. i mean, of course it could always be done (intervalometers exist), but the question stopping me most times was "would it be worth the effort?" but now, it's like, "what effort?" no excuses anymore. want a timelapse? 1-2-3 done.
    for example, i manage a bakery/bistro's kitchen and know the value of documenting (so as to further refine) a workflow throughout a day. small businesses rely on speed, accuracy, consistency ...dependability/value. it's one thing to have a list and notes to go by, it's quite another to be able to communicate/train, to anyone, within a minute-long video clip, the worth of doing a task "to completion" (w/e that may mean) - reiterating "work smarter, not harder". this module allows me to set and go, regardless of task, in literal seconds, with results upon which i can depend.
    in that way alone, my perceptions generally (regarding "having an eye" for potential timelapses) has shifted immensely. if i'm doing anything repetitive, which is all a kitchen is (if you're doing it right), then there's a way to capture it, in a way which reiterates worth for why it's done that way (...or else "further refine").

My first attempts really put me off on trying sunrise/sunset lapses, but after finding your software, I'm so in love! It really is amazing and and simple! After a few attempts, I was finally able to get a near perfect holy grail lapse 🙃🙃. So excited to try this out too now.

    I have seen the review for 3.0 remote done by Mr. Vandeputte and also this one, checked your webpage but I am not completely sure what is the difference (in terms of funcionality - e.g. minimum interval, ramping etc) between 2.5/3.0 and the Free version. Please, is there any comparison chart like for Lrtimelapse. Thank you very much :)

      The differences between 2.5 and 3 are explained on lrtimelapse.com/lrtpt/ just scroll down that page.
      The "free" needs to be soldered by yourself, you need to print a case and it has a much weaker display and user interface. Also I'm not updating the firmware anymore. I'd really only recommend it, if you are on a very tight budget and willing to do all the tinkering.

      @@gwegnerde thank you very much :) honestly - I have a bored friend that loved the idea to solder something again, but what really got him was that there can be a programming too :) he considers it as a nice project - he looked into the shopping list and said that he has most of the stuff already home from his older projects.

    First of all, my admiration as software engineer for the amazing job you are doing with the LRTimelapse software, Gunter. My question is: I have the Sony a7C which has the new usb-c interface instead of the traditional micro-usb that all previous Sony cameras have. Will your intervalometer work with an usb-c interface using a usb-c / micro-usb converter?

    • @LRTimelapseOfficial
      @LRTimelapseOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I could see, the A7C as a very compact model lacks a camera release port for external "analog" triggering, als nearly all other "bigger" Cameras provide. On other Sonys this is integrated in the modified micro-USB port. But this is not triggering via USB, but via the sophisticated contacts that that port offers. Bottomline: I don't think you can use the LRT PRO Timer with the A7C. The same goes for the ultra-compact Nikon Z 50 which unfortunately also lacks a proper release port.

    Hello Gunther! Just bought LR Timer 3. Coming from (and still having) NMX motion controler & Ramper Pro I have 2 questions. Can I use LR Timer 3 with NMX for motion control on Stage Zero? If so, is there some manual or tutorial about procedure. And second, Ramper Pro has a lightmeter and therefore it shifts your camera shutter or ISO according to lightmeter reading (very useful with Holy Grail TL). However, as I understood, On LR Timer you have to do it manually while shooting by setting ramping period. Isn’t that a bit of a guessing involved, since I’m not sure if I need 20sec or 30sec interval when dark falls (or before dawn)?
    Thanks!

    I might have missed it but is there an actual advantage when using this device instead of just using the built-in intervalometer of the Sony a7riii/ a7iii/ a7siii/ a7riv ?
    These cameras, which are often used by time-lapse photographers, only offer the option of shooting in full circles. However, the exposure time as well as the ISO can be automatically adjusted based on the current exposure, especially in the time lapse mode.

    Are you planning to upgrade everything from this tiny device to a more feature rich device, like having a mobile app so you can do all the stuff instead of just the tiny LCD. If possible also that we can use it as for long term timelapse which can schedule the triggering by day/week/month maybe.
    Now a days, most device are using mobile apps like (miop$, ar$enal,timelap$e+, i will wait for your device to be on that level as well and i will definitely get one.

    • @gwegnerde
      @gwegnerde 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a very important reason, that the design of the LRT Pro Timer is as it is: no app, no bluetooth, no wireless whatsoever.
      Just a very reliable and performant timer connected via cable to the camera. Easy and quick to setup, no hassle connecting and pairing any bluetooth shit with all the error sources involved. I was sick and tired of having to deal with such things when I just wanted to shoot a timelapse. That's why the LRT Pro Timer is as it is. If you want a fancy app, check out the alternatives that you mentioned. But don't expect them to be as easy and straight forward to use.

    • @LRTimelapseOfficial
      @LRTimelapseOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree about the display. :-) But what about the temperature? Where would you have a scenario where you would have the timer in the open for a long time by less than -20°C ? That's not a hard limit, just the lowest that I personally experienced and where I can say it works for some time.
      Any small battery will die in such conditions. But alone putting the timer in your backpack hill help. Or even insulating with a pouch. The small processor generates a bit of heat it's just about keeing if inside the case.
      I see no reason to now be using the LRTPT in lower temperatures, if you take care to keep it insulated.

    • @LRTimelapseOfficial
      @LRTimelapseOfficial  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Never heard from an actual user that he though it was over complex. It just offers the options, that serious timelapse photographers ask for. Every scenario (Like Long Term, Astro etc.) has it's own dedicated mode, so if you do simple timelapse only (Timelapse M) you won't have to deal with them. The main goal was to build a high performance device which minimizes the dark time between shots. Such a device didn't exist, that's why I built it. Auto Ramping however, is a topic where established solutions like qDslrDashboard exist which are separate tools, with a different topic. They work well together with the LRT PRO Timer. You should have a look at the new model LRT PRO Timer 3, you can find all information on lrtimelapse.com/lrtpt

  • @Peter-kq1ju

    There are several external devices out there already support millisecond interval and some with auto holy grail ramping. This is just a timer, way too expensive. My $30 bucks MIOPS Mobile Dongle serves me very well as an intervalometer (yes, 0.1 sec intervals, no AF signal). If you need B-ramping, HDR, check out Arsenal 2, Pluto Trigger, MIOPS mobile etc. If you need holy grail auto ramping, check out UNLEASHED, which is much cheaper and have more features.

    • @LRTimelapseOfficial
      @LRTimelapseOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know all of those devices. And you can believe me that I wouldn't have developed and produced the LRT Pro Timer, if I wouldn't think that any other device would do the job the same way. Developing Hardware ist not really my business... But anyway: most of the solutions you mentioned connect to the camera via USB, this means the camera mostly won't be operable anymore, won't show previews with short dark times etc. Other solutions require a mobile phone to be operated. My goal with the LRT Pro Timer was to make the most performant intervalometer, without requiring any wireless connection, usb trouble etc. It should just work - easily and reliably. Be operable in seconds, even in very cold conditions, even with gloves or mittens.
      If you find another solution that does the job for you - sure go for it! I'm totally aware of the fact that there are timelapse photographers that don't have the high requirements that I and some others have. And that's fine. But I wanted to offer a solution that fulfills those high demands, because I didn't find one on the market. That's why I made the LRT Pro Timer. There is even a free open source version for those who are not afraid of soldering and building one themselves. The price of the commercial LRT Pro Timer comes from the fact, that I produce everything in Germany. Not China or other countries where people get exploited for the production of cheap electronics. And I know that there are enough customers that value that decision.

    • @Peter-kq1ju
      @Peter-kq1ju 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LRTimelapseOfficial Thanks for the detailed info. I respect your LRTimelapse software a lot, but not this expensive timer. We can easily convert a $20 generic intervalometer into a similar product by not firing the AF signal. By the way, I also own UNLEASHED, which supports holy grail auto ramping (by using LRTimelapse algorism), and will support 0.1 sec interval increment. I am able to change my camera settings during auto ramping. UNLEASHED is made in Germany as well, but much cheaper with more functions and no battery. I am just saying yours is way too expensive as an intervalometer without auto ramping. From the reviews, lots of customers complained about your product build quality, not even close to the popular regular intervalometers made in China. The solution to use qDslrDashboard to do exposure ramping is awkward.
