    Eric, I’ve always enjoyed the storytelling of your videos but this episode is on another level. Your skills as a filmmaker continue to grow and this was a tremendous combination of narrative, cinematography, and editing. Thank you for your dedication to your craft and sharing this intimate look into your being.
    Also, submit this to film festivals. Doesn’t matter if they are mountain bike focused. This is a story of ambition, struggle, and perseverance.
    And not to be overlooked: Yuka. Super supportive. There for every step. As impressive as she is for her riding skill, this video showcases her amazing quality as a person.

    One of my favorite things about your channel is that you're never afraid to share your failure (which is way too strong a word of this but I digress...). And you always seem to get it in the end. But this one was extra awesome. I literally threw my arms up and cheered aloud when you cleared that fucker. Great video, Sir. Loved every minute.

    “Eric, just do it”

    Incredible video, as always! I thought this one was one of your best videos... the physical, emotional, and mental toll it took for you to clear the jump reminded me of all the things I've struggled with in this way. It was really inspiring to see, and as you said, showed us that you're human. I feel motivated not only in terms of mountain biking, but in life in general, to keep going, trying one more time, until finally, after so much effort, you've completed it. The relief you felt was coming through the screen, and reminded me of the relief we all feel after finishing a daunting task. So thank you Eric, for pushing through and motivating so many of us out there to keep pushing. Thank you Yuka for staying with him and helping him make it. You should never have to go it alone.
    On another note, if you are traveling down the coast, you should come check out the riding in San Francisco. There is a lot more to be had than one would expect. Just check out trailforks and most of the trails will be there. Might be interesting to make a video on it. Otherwise, check out Pacifca for some of the more gnarly things in the Bay Area.
    Safe travels, and stay gnarly!

    • @Thematty635

      @@dezzydiamond7121 I actually think TH-cam does this to content creators. The need to finish a vid or to get every feature is kind of the wrong driving factor. It's probably not the intended outcome to complete it for the video, but when the video is your livelihood you would want to tick every feature off. Scary to think how creators are affected by this sort of thing. Good example is that nikocado avocado dude, he's destroying his life for views. Might be time for a TH-cam break. Have a holiday and just ride, no filming or anything.

    • @billbingham916
      @billbingham916 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Thematty635 Booth you and Dezzy make good points. I never considered the long term impact on content creators. Watching BCPOV for a while I believe its fair to say we have seen an increase in his anxiety while riding and a lot of us have been there. The bitch abut anxiety is that the more you think about the worse it gets. As leaders in our sports I hope content creators know we appreciate the battle and authentic real events. There was recent video by Remi M where he didn't finish a feature and there was nothing but respect from the audience.
      Having said all that, we all have inner demons we need to outcome and for that I applaud BCPOV. Do it for yourself, not us observers.

      I have to disagree. This video shows that he had the desire to want to clear the jump but had to get over his mental block and sometimes that takes more than three tries. Ever been to a practice session with pros? Dave Lieb and Nicholi Rogatkin are friends of mine and phenomenal slope style riders, yet when they're trying new tricks, sometimes they'll try it 10+ times to get it just right.
      I give Eric credit for sticking with it and not giving up even when he felt completely defeated trying to get over his mental block.

    • @Mister1bigidea
      @Mister1bigidea 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@budman8926 I’ll need to disagree with you on this one. I’m sure Eric sticks to the 3 time only rule in most scenarios and that’s a very important rule, but, in life there are always exceptions. This is definitely a learning moment for him, and even though he cleared it, he has a lot to evaluate, on how to know in which scenario is it worth to keep pushing. When it comes to most of us, while riding a bike, its just about riding the bike. Eric has a TH-cam channel dedicated for mountain biking, and the parameter and types of thoughts he has to deal with is completely different. It’s okay to give constructive criticism, but I did not appreciate you using the phrase ‘crying like a baby’, because that feels more like a judgement and not you providing your opinion from experience. Again, this is my opinion, its important to disagree, and I’d encourage you to showcase that without being judgmental.

It pulled at me in ways that I don’t even understand but it also showed me that I’m not alone in feeling that way, knowing I should be able to do it, my skills are there but I can’t get out of my head. What a powerful piece of art.

    On another note, seeing Yuka progress so much so quickly during this video is crazy, I cannot get over how she can just decide to do something and it happens. Inspiration for everyone.

    Every mountain biker that tries to push their own limits have experienced the frustration that relates to a feature. The post aftermath of succeed is what keeps the stoke alive for the sport. Nicely done documenting what really happens behind the scenes. Stoked for you to land that step up.

    So many TH-camrs show these great trails being crushed with out fear. That is not the way I ride. The fear is real! Thanks for showing that mountain biking is a progression of skill and comfort. One moves with the other, but never at the same time. Great job!

    Congratulations to you and Yuka for sending it! Absolutely huge! Amazing editing as well, the last 5 minutes had me literally sitting on the edge of my seat.
    Kudos once again for showing you're human, the dedication to run in so many times is admirable, and to eventually still send it with that ever growing mental block from each run in makes it all the more impressive. I loved that yuka also was happy to tow you in again and again, you guys make an awesome team together! Thanks for the content as always Eric, keep it up!

    Sorry I'm late to this but as a 51 year old just getting back into mountain biking the last couple of years, it's amazing watching the struggles and success of a sport I love so much. The story telling is what makes this a great video and good on you for having the courage to show the struggles, something we don't see very often on TH-cam mtb videos.

    I think it might be a good idea to take tumbling lessons from a gymnast over the winter. You really need to fall into a roll rather than into your wrists all the time. Falls will hurt a lot less and you will take much less injuries.
    I know he is mainly a stunt/jump biker, but he also does a lot of down hill stuff, but take a look at some of Sam pilgrims falls. He rolls out of every fall then gets back on like it never happened.

    Dude! Love watching you battle with a feature and then finally conquer it. It’s a very refreshing, honest and ‘human’ way of shooting a trail video. Not all of us can hit massive jumps with ease and it’s so good to see you document the process of risk and reward. Keep up the good work Eric 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    I ride this trail pretty regularly as a Portland native and like usual, the video does no justice for the size of some of these jumps. That step up is massive and insanely intimidating. Ive never even come close to trying to send it as Im still what youd call a beginner (I can do from the tree "goalpost" drop down on this trail) so dont feel bad about being nervous for that jump. The videos do it no justice (duh) - that thing is a monster. Even the jumps leading up to it are intimidating, crazy steep lips and not much room for error. Great job overcoming and conquering that feature! Also fun to see our local trails on a youtubers videos :-).

    im not even through this video but i had to stop and comment - one of my favorite things about this channel as well as Yuka's is the fact you guys dont sugar coat anything. you keep it real & honest. Being able to edit together a vidoes gives content creators the ability to cut out whatever they want (ie fails) but you dont. Its really nice to see people react as that - real people. Fears and injury are real & the fact that you are not afraid to say "no, i cant this time" on camera is awesome! Just goes to show not everyone is perfect at what they do no matter how big of a following they have.

    This is by far the best video on this channel. After you cleared that jump I wanted to cry with you. We could really feel the emotions through this amazing video. Your also so courageous to show people your feelings, emotions and failures. I’m pretty sure this has given a lot sense to the video. It’s not only about watching someone riding a black trail. It’s more about understanding the rider and learning from he’s mistakes and thoughts at different moments to improve your mental strength because it all comes down to your mental.
    To conclude, I would like to thank you Eric for showing us your weaknesses but also your strength to come back and overcome your most frustrating situation. This is truly an exemple to follow!!!

    I am new to mountain biking I just started about two months ago but I was watching a lot of videos before I actually committed to buying one. Now I have a bike and I love riding it. Where I live there isn’t the biggest trails but they are still a lot of fun. But I just want to say I love how real you keep it on your channel. There are things people just aren’t comfortable doing and not all videos show that. They just show the shredding aspect and glory of it all. I love that BCpov shows the sketchy and scary side of trail riding and that sometimes even very skilled riders are pushed to their limits and are over all human like the rest of us. I love your videos and hope your keep making them. Thank you for the inspiration!
