Ive been a discerning cigar smoker for about 5 years and recently decided to try a pipe. I've cast a wide net and purchased several different blends, a few aromatics but mostly English and Vapers. I've tried maybe 20% of the blends that I purchased, and while im excited to try them all, i keep coming back to Elizabethan. For me it was pretty much love at first puff, and certainly by the end of my first bowl I could understand why you love this one so much. I know i have my own palate, and i need to keep sampling other things to see if i like something more, but this particular tobacco just scratches that itch for me. Its a complex and satisfying smoke that i think will be with me for a long time. Thanks for everything you do, Bradley!
I just have to say I’m late to the party but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the videos from Elizabethan being gone, to the G.L. Pease replacement videos and now to this. Thoroughly entertaining and informative stuff man. Love the channel. Been watching awhile but mostly lurk. I bought a few tins of Elizabethan 3 years ago and never tried them. Due to your videos I cracked one this week and have smoked it every day and thoroughly enjoying it and getting to know it. Thanks for the content, look forward to future vids :)
I’ve been watching your Chanel for years I wish I could give u some money but I’m a broke student, but one day my friend I will donate to you. Until then I can just say thank you for years of entertaining videos. Keep up the good work.
I just popped open my last tin of one of my old meat and taters blend. Good ol' Frog Morton. I am SO happy that STG saved the Dunhill blends, just wish someone would have saved McCelland.
That purchase was actually a pretty smart move on STG's part. They get some blends with a very good following, get blends that would be grandfathered into whatever regulations come down the pike and probably picked up the rights pretty cheap since Dunhill wanted out to the point they were fine just dropping them. We all win!
I was overjoyed to find Peterson/Dunhills were unchanged. The blends are a joy to smoke and I know I can smoke them at any time and enjoy them. What more can one ask from a blend? May your pipe be full, your Matches dry and your cigars sweet.
I did/do enjoy this blend and glad to see it back on the market. I will be picking some up. My all-time favorite was McClelland 2015. It was my "Elizabethan Mixture". Unfortunately, we'll probably never see that again. I did get lucky and found GL Pease Fillmore to satisfy as my daily...yet I still dream of the 2015 and sigh once I awake.
I didn't like it at first, but then I smoked the entire tin just to get rid of it. In doing so, it's become my go to everyday tobacco and fave of all time. lol
Welcome to the club bro! You will find that pipe smoking isn't just a nicotine delivery system in a world where faster is better that sadly left the pipe on the sidelines, but a hobby that gives immense pleasure when the proper due diligence is done. Enjoy!
If your an 18mg man also get night cap & Irish flake. And remember pipe smoking is an art, it takes time to master. But we're fanatical for a reason...
James Dale Copeland yeah it’s been one week , I’m still learning , it seems to be interesting there’s a lot more to do and be mindful of than just smoking a cigarette or vaping of course it took a few bowls not to get tongue bite , plus I made the mistake of getting cheap stuff , so I’m putting in a order Friday
Ricky yeah 18mg wouldn’t bother me I was vaping up to 50mg , but I had got cheap tobacco last time and did it to fast , so tongue bite , so this Friday I’m ordering some better stuff, I have learned to go slower using the breath method, watched a lot of muttonchop, still to fast sometimes then I have to slow down , so it might take a bit for a good rhythm .
@@Stallionfragrancereviews OK bro, we're going to have to break out the hard stuff. Look up 'Irish rope' and 'brown bogie'. I got bit when I started, too. My advice is to just sip, like it's hot coffee. You might also want to look up Siberia snus. I've struggled with high tolerance myself, it sucks because it really limits your pipe and cigar options in "satisfaction" terms, if you know what I'm saying..
I remember when I first tried Elizabethan. It seemed a little harsh and low on flavor but because of your fondness and high recommendation I kept smoking it. It eventually became one of my favorites. Thank you for your reviews Bradley. Please review Kajun Kake, I just started smoking it and I think you’d enjoy it.
I am so happy to hear that your fave is still the same, unsullied blend we know and love! Excited for them to release the rest of their blends. Great video again, Bradley.
well said, able to know your favourite tobacco of all time means you were able to know yourself all of the time. Perique / Virginia blends are my favourite too :)
It really is a great thing to see someone who has found their baccy! Glad it’s the same and that you can find it again. Now the question is do you have any of the original Dunhill baccy still? If so are you going to save it or smoke it and move into the Peterson?
After trying some Dunhill Elizabethan from your recommendation in 2016. I have to agree this blend is so well balanced for my taste. Im usually not a fan of too much perique spicyness but this blend seems to always taste so smooth, Thanks Bradley. Ill always have this one in my rotation now
Delicious leaf, that. Bayou Morning is one I started buying in bulk and jarring years ago since I enjoyed its more pungent and unique flavor so well (I'm going through a fill right now, no joke), but there's just no substitute for real sho-nuff Elizabethan and I'm awfully glad it's back in my regular rotation. BTW, I have another suggestion just for variety's sake: GL Pease' Telegraph Hill. I differed from Bradley when he went to Stratford, which I'd found sort of bland, TH for me is one of the most flavorful VaPers I've tried. No surprise I buy it in bulk and keep a pint Mason jar on my smoking station so it's always handy.
@@RanninRavensight it's on my to-try list, but I have a hunch I'll like it even more as well, just as I ended up liking the Balkan Star of the East Flake better than the ribbon cut SOTE. It takes what I already like and consolidates it.
Bradley, I hope you stock up on your beloved Elizabethan Mixture. It's also my favorite pipe tobacco blend. I have almost a pound of the blend under the old Dunhill name. I've already ordered six tins of the blend under the Peterson name. I will continue to stock up in case STG ever decides to quit making it. Letting it age is another reason to keep enough in the cellar.
New piper and an English lover sitting here smoking my first bowl of this and I really liking it. Using my Nording Compass which I like to try new blends in. But I’m going to put this thru my rotation of pipes and see how it grows on me. But so far it’s a winner!!
Fun fact(s): I have it on good authority (from one of Anwar Sadat’s former aides - and a pipe smoker himself) that the then newly released Dunhill ‘Elizabethan Mixture’ (1979) was one of the tobaccos that were part of the Egyptian President’s regular rotation (together with Dunhill ‘Royal Yacht’ & ‘Light Flake/Flake’; Cope’s ‘Escudo’; Bell’s ‘Three Nuns’; Murray’s ‘Erinmore Flake’; Ogden’s ‘St. Bruno Flake’; Gallaher’s ‘Condor Long Cut’; Player’s ‘Medium Flake’; Wills’ ‘Capstan Medium Flake’ ; Orlik’s ‘Golden Sliced’; ‘Edgewood Slices’; Grant’s ‘Old Drum’; Nat Sherman ‘Highstone’; Mac Baren ‘Mixture - Scottish Blend’; & ‘Plumcake’; ‘Douwe-Egberts Amphora Original’ & ‘Full Aroma’; ‘Royal Theodorus Niemeyer Sail Aromatic & Black Cavendish’; Van Roosem’s ‘Original & Black Cavendish’ and ‘Swedish Match Borkum Riff Black Cavendish’). According to this source, Dunhill ‘Elizabethan’ was the tobacco that Sadat had been smoking - and carried on his person - on the fateful day he was assassinated, October 6, 1981.
I'm new pipe smoker and I've tried probably 25 or so different tobaccos at this point. I started with Elizabethan Mixture for my first bowl at your recommendation and really liked it but then I went on a tobacco trying spree a bit. Now that I'm making my way back to Elizabethan again I agree with you that Elizabethan is a very special tobacco. It's absolutely amazing!!!
2:49. “It’s the same.” Roll credits... 😉. EM is my favourite with deluxe navy rolls a close second. I’m glad Peterson picked up the ball. I have about 14 tins of the Dunhill left (I went on a bit a buying/hoarding spree when Dunhill announced they were ceasing). I wasn’t looking forward to that last bowl. I’m down to my last lb of McClellenad 2015 too. That’s gonna be a sad last bowl.
I have today cracked my very first tin of DUNHILL Elizabethan Mixture dated 2015. I’m having my first bowl while viewing this vid. Great job on the show Bradley!Subbed, Shared and liked.
Hi Bradley, Well, thanks to you, I purchased a tin of "Perterson Elizabethan" tobacco this morning. You made it perfectly clear in you own entertaining style how much you enjoyed this blend over all the others. Bradley... My friend... I couldn't agree with you more. A perfect VaPur. Good job buddy. All the new Dunhill /Peterson blends are now available over here now in the UK, and in my opinion Peterson has nailed them also. (I love your new Martin guitar by the way. Stay safe Bradley, and thanks for your first class reviews.
Bradley, I have been watching your reviews for a little while and I'm relatively new (about a year) to pipe smoking. I finally bought and smoked my first bowl of Elizabethan Mixture this morning. O......M......G....! I absolutely love it. I have been smoking some different blends and really like Virginias, but this is my first. Just love the taste and experience. Thanks for the heads up.
This happened to be my first tin of tobacco, and I really liked it. It wasn't my second tin, but it definitely came back for round 3. Looking forward to seeing your other reviews.
Bradley, your videos never disappoint! I’m still searching for that “perfect” blend, but when I find it I can only hope I’m as enthusiastic as you are about Elizabethan!
Me too. As much as I enjoyed Dunhill's other English blends, once I went nanners for VaPers a couple of years back I never got around to EMP and figured I wasn't likely to after Dunhill distanced themselves from tobacco (I imagine poor Alfred's still spinning in his grave as we speak). I may not be back in English-craving mode...yet...but you can be sure I'll be laying in some in anticipation of my tastes shifting gears...now that Peterson and STG have given us the opportunity.
302tbird I am really hoping for a better review from Bradley this time, I don’t understand with his love for STG blends how he seemed to be so indifferent to EMP with his review.
Having my first bowl of Elizabethan right now an immediately could see this being something I will always keep stock of. First vaper I’ve tried and I am impressed. This is delicious. I got into pipe smoking right as Peterson took control of the old dunhill blends, but I now understand why you missed it so much. Glad I grabbed a tin!
I was sooooo excited to finally get to try Bradley’s favorite blends. Initially I was disappointed. Not because it didn’t taste delicious (which it does) but the fact that the Perique tickled the crap out of my nose. But then I was more mindful of my retrohale and as a novice and objective opinion I too can give praise to the name..... Elizabethan.
I like this blend, I've described it as a sorbet to clear the palette, bright, sweet and zesty and it is a pleasant change from my usual English blends and dark flakes. However...I don't get how anyone can describe Elizabethan as their favourite tobacco, it's completely beyond my understanding...whereas Standard Mixture and My Mixture 965 are absolutely incredible to me...horses for courses I guess and just my opinion, I prefer something a little more creamy.
Im with you, I definitely prefer creamier blends. London mixture is my "Elizabethan." But then again, tastes change. I've found myself smoking a lot more Virginias recently.
Smoking my first bowl of Elizabethan right now out of a brand new Missouri meerschaum mark Twain. Definitely different than I was expecting. I like it, and man its smoking perfect for me right out of the tin.
well, I bought some, but I wasnt sure whether I would like it since I like englilshes and dont care much for very bright Virginia in tobacco shop mixes. However, it was pretty good. Must be the darker quality to the Virginia. I also agree on the nicotine: I was surprised to actually notice some nicotine in the first few minutes (although I didnt notice any by the end of the bowl). Basically, I dont ever notice any nicotine from English blends. So, the not uninteresting taste + the nicotine (which I enjoy) make this a probable rebuy for me. Thanks for the introduction!
There is another tobacconist that followed the footsteps of the Dunhills. That is Robert McConnell. I haven't tried it, but the internet generally likes it. The Elisabethan Mixture is now called Robert McConnell Regent Street.
HELL YEAH!! I'm so glad you said it's the same in every way! Ordering NOW! Wish I wouldn't have taken a break from youtube for a few months cause I opened one of my Dunhill Elizabethan tins about a week ago. Oh well I still have a few tons to hold on to. So glad they are making this again!
Bradley, man, you never get tiresome! That is an invaluable asset. I have never smoked Elizabethan for two reasons: VaPers are not my favorite blends, and after 50 years of pipe smoking, I'm still a nicotine lightweight. I'd certainly give it a try if an open tin presented itself. About once a decade I'll some across a very old tin of Escudo, and that is all I need. Keep 'em coming, my friend!
40 or so years ago, the only VaPer I smoked was Escudo. In your honor, I'm ordering a tin of Elizabethan. Thanks for many years of excellent programming.
One of my favourites is , 'Dirty Shag' . I enjoy a few puffs after coitus. Recently as I ignited I asked my exhausted companion if she smoked after sex. 'I don't know,' she replied, 'I've never looked.'
Hi Bradley, I'm not sure about Elizabethan, but the Peterson Flake I have is dated September 9th this year so is unlikely to be old production stashed away and relabeled. It also smokes like freshly made and can only improve with some age on it. Regards, John.
Just tried it for the first time. The toasty bread and sour notes have me hooked! There's also a zesty quality to this that I enjoy that seem to cool the mouth, almost minty. Good stuff
Thanks for the video Bradley. I just popped open a new run of Elizabethan and tried it for the first time based off of your opinions on it and loved it. I’ve noticed that I have a thing for perique. I love this mixture and will probably make it part of my normal rotation. Thanks!
I bought a tin of this stuff from my local tobacconist on your recommendation. I haven't opened it yet, I am waiting to use up a jar of H&H Acadian Perique first before I crack open a new va-per. After listening to you gush about it so much it better be the best damn tobacco I have ever smoked.
Thank you for the review! I really want to try this blend. I LOVE Peterson's Standard Mixture and want to branch out to VA/PERs. Question...does Elizabethan smell or taste anything like the Sherlock Holmes blend? I have a tin of it and do NOT like it. The overwhelming smell of raisins is not my thing. I think it's the Virginias, but I'm not sure. I'm pretty new to pipe smoking (5 months), so I'm trying to figure things out.
Awesome Bradley i see you are so happy its back i love it too thanks to you i. Love most vapers that i try. And ELIZABETHAN MIXTURE is right up there inn my top ten so when you order now get a extra on for cellering or ageing. Thanks for the wonderful revisit to the blend happy smokes my friend 👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😀😀😀😀🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨💨💨💨 best regards. Peter. The Smooooove piper.
As a Peterson fan, I am so glad to have these blends back under his brand name. Dunhill blends were extremely expensive in my country due to the tax. By the way Bradley, you looked older back in 2014 compared to you now. xD
Elizabethan Mixture sounds like your first love. And first love is something special. Haunted Bookshop is mine. I love burley with a little Perique and Virginia.
This makes me happy to hear! I'm awaiting a tin of Peterson My Mixture 965 to christen a estate Peterson Shamrock (bent billiard) I just scored, and I was hoping the Peterson/Dunhill's were true replica recipes.
Do you find that age changes this blend for the better? Ordered three tins several years ago because you like it so much- didn’t care for it at the time. I’m curious to see what has happened to the blend and my taste buds over time. Cheers.
Tried this and the Charatan version and love them both ,although my jaded palate can hardly distinguish between the two the Peterson s the winner .If I had found this before my preferred Erinmore Flake it would be my favourite .
I will definitely try this blend. I'll try and order a tin from Smokingpipes. Does anyone know if they ship to Cyprus ? Thanks for the review Bradley !!
So I have had a tin of Dunhill Elizabethan mixture since 2018 and finally decided to open it and give it a try ok not something that knocked my socks off but good and I would buy it again of course under the Peterson name but I would smoke it again I get what your saying I have my own favorite can't tell anyone why it just hits the spot for me just like Dunhill Elizabethan mixture dose for you
Im newish to the hobby. Ive had a lot of aromatics and OTC standards in my rotation so far. I'm literally smoking my first bowl of Elizabethan Mixture right now and this is, hands down, the best smoke I've had so far. I'm drawing with the "breathe method" with intermittent nasal retrohales and the spicy/peppery top note is really coming through. I LOVE this blend. What's next?
Now you can finally stop comparing things to it, and pining for the days you could order it easily! It's time to start getting back to the good old fashioned reviews 😊
Hello from the UK. I've bought two tins of Elizabethan as you're so keen. Really enjoy your reviews and have subscribed. Anyway, it seems to me to be an American term, so tell why do you refer to many pipe "smoking" tobaccos as "vapours?"
So. I will begin my pipe smoking journey. I have smoked a few cigars and hate the taste I have I’m my mouth after I smoke. Do you find that you have this with pipe smoking!

Not because it didn’t taste delicious (which it does) but the fact that the Perique tickled the crap out of my nose. But then I was more mindful of my retrohale and as a novice and objective opinion I too can give praise to the name..... Elizabethan.
Be careful not to retrohale. Save your sinuses from harsh smoke 🚬
I can’t fathom how anyone can like Latakia. Different strokes for different folks.
It's soooooo good. It's perfect. I love it too!
Good to hear..
Hopefully Ye Olde Signe hits the market soon.
Cheers! It IS a bit strong, but you should definitely give it a try if you have the chance.
I just won 3 tins of this for 7.5 per tin, on your recommendation. I will store 2 and open one. Fingers crossed that I like it.
Thanks!
I can't wait to try this haha my personal favorite right now is Bengal slices and Bengal slices white
I am happy it’s back. We all know you are. Yes! Woo whooo
OK .You have convinced me ,I'll try it again ,only smoked as a youth .
Im looking forward to trying it for the first time.
I wish I could give this 100 likes, Bradley. It's a good day seeing this video. I feel the same way about Nightcap as you feel about Elizabethan.
Good to hear it’s the same. Nice updated review.
All of the Elizabethan I have is at least 2 years old and it's really good. I'm really liking Dun, oops Peterson's Royal Yacht, a new blend for me.
Hey Bradley, I saw a review of Warped Sarto that likened it to Elizabethan with a hint of Latakia.
So I have had a tin of Dunhill Elizabethan mixture since 2018 and finally decided to open it and give it a try ok not something that knocked my socks off but good and I would buy it again of course under the Peterson name but I would smoke it again I get what your saying I have my own favorite can't tell anyone why it just hits the spot for me just like Dunhill Elizabethan mixture dose for you
Time to add this in my rotation. Thanks for the review!
Thank you for introducing me to Elizabethan and VaPers in general...definitely enhanced my pipe smoking experience
I tried this blend based on your review(s) and I am enjoying it very much. Can you recommend a Virginia blend close to this but without the Perique?
Try Peterson Flake!
@@stuffandthingsplays Excellent, thank you!
Glad it is still good! Happy Piping!
That's great! You might want to try a Latakia blend next. I recommend Peterson Standard Mixture.
@@stuffandthingsyoutube in my cart - thanks, Bradley. Love your channel.
Just got some for the ship on the tin now I love it.
What’s the pipe you’re smoking? Thanks for the review.
Great vid Bradley. Have a great week.
We're all very happy for you Bradley, and of course for ourselves. Woohoo!!!!
The term means a blend of Virginia (VA) and Perique (PER) tobaccos. Combine the abbreviations and you get VAPER.
So happy, its my favorit , can wait To try 😀😀 . Thank you, very intersting chanel 😉
Just ordered some EB based on your recommendation along with a tin of the Flake. Great vids, thanks!
Great video, Bradley! How much do you smoke in a day/week?
hey, awesome review bro! btw, where do you buy tins without the huge warning label?
great vid..thanks for your work..i told you a long time ago they would survive!
So. I will begin my pipe smoking journey. I have smoked a few cigars and hate the taste I have I’m my mouth after I smoke. Do you find that you have this with pipe smoking!
i love this blend a lot!!!!
Is it the same as in "this is Pepsi"? :D
So, your reviewing style went from English Gentleman to Scrubby Sailor...
😂
Thoroughly enjoyed this vid!
Damn it Bradley, your persuasion got to me. I caved and ordered.
Anyone know what pipe tobacco can relate to a Gurkha Ninja Torpedo Maduro? I’m new to pipe smoking.
Thank you gentlemen.
Smoking my first bowl of Elizabethan as I watch this video. We shall see how the rest of the tin goes, but so far it's a winner in my book!
