    I watched this vid, enjoyed it and followed the procedure. A couple of weeks later, I removed the plastic tray above the radiator for a different job. It's only 8 or 10 pull out plastic rivets. Once this plastic tray/cover is off, you can just reach right in to the temperature sensor. It is wide the eff open. Even a pretty boy with very fat arms could reach in.

    Hey I appreciate you making this video as all the other ones I’ve seen the people snap that plug off and break it from being able to lock back on the sensor after replacement. It’s easy to get to the part but trying to figure out how to take the plug lock off without being able to see anything was the challenge and based on how many guys I’ve seen snap there’s off it seems to be a common problem! You are the only one who actually showed how to disengage the plug in order to avoid breaking it so after messing with it for about 10 min I decided to watch your video and you showed me EXACTLY what I was looking for so thank you my brotha!! I have a 2016 Buick Enclave and you were correct it’s the same motor and same sensor location… Awesome job on the video showing the little tricks to make this job an easy one! Saved me a bunch of time and frustration with it and potentially saved me some money cause I’m sure I too would have snapped the little red thing trying to get it unplugged!!

    Man, you saved me probably a few hundred dollars. Your symptoms were mine exactly. $25...amazing!! THANK YOU!! I also had a check engine light with it. And the new sensor did not work (i was upset) until i reset the check engine light. Tip: You don't need to take it in to a pro to reset the light. On my '14 Acadia and on most vehicles, as i understand, you disconnect the battery for 15 mins then reconnect. Cleared my check engine light and the sensor and AC worked perfectly after that.

    Man, thanks for the advice about clearing the space as much as possible. Your video is the only one I saw that emphasized and illustrated it. That certainly made it a lot easier and faster. As with most my biggest challenge was getting the electrical plug out and then plugged back in. That being said the entire process only took me about 25 minutes after watching yours and 2 other videos. Thanks again!

    This is by far the best way to replace the sensor. You were right about moving the items out the way first. The only hard part was trying to get your hand at the right angle to disconnect the clip on the sensor. A little patience and it came off. Thanks for this video.

    Thanks for the info on the clip, they are hard when you can see them, let alone when you can't! I took the plastic cover off the top of the radiator this summer when the fan wouldn't shut off, never put it back, doesn't seem to do anything but get in the way! Thanks for this!

    10/10! This was perfectly done. I changed mine in about 45 minutes. I spent too much time loosening the the sensor. I didn’t push the socket deep enough onto the sensor. $35 dollars later mine was fixed perfectly. I did move quite as many wires but that was a super helpful hint. Thank you!!!

  • @jamesdeston7631

    This a great video. Very specific. Even shows you how the clip operates to remove the plug without breaking it. Tells you some tricks to make room in this tight engine compartment. Only add would be to make sure you press the red part of the clip back in once you attach the wire harness. The black toggle clicks but I think you have to press the red clip back. I used some closed needle nose pliers to gently push each side of the red clip to make sure it was locked in. This may occur automatically but when I was testing the old sensor on how attached it was 2 separate steps. Great video. Thanks for saving me 100 bucks. Getting clip out was hardest part. Took maybe an hour. Remember to let your cool down because you won’t be able to work on it without burning yourself if you just shut it off. Thanks again.

    This is the way. Thanks. I couldn't get the clip off on the first try. Pliers on the stupid lock tab is key. Took 19 mins to start to finish. To answer my biggest question: it leaks a little but it's a slow drip, not a stream.

    I found loosening the bolt on the dipstick would give me a little bit more extra angle for that connector. And thank you for showing me that the red clip has to back off like 5mm or so so that you can push on the tab. Otherwise you won't be able to push down on the black tab. Overall good explanation.

    • @stevenkerwin4041
      @stevenkerwin4041 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That orange clip isn't like other clips in that it is integral to the connector. I was able to move it forward with a pick (step one). Next, I depressed the black button with a long, flathead screwdriver and pulled at the same time (step 2). Trying to push that little button with my thumb didn't work no matter how much pressure I applied or how much pain I self-inflicted.

    My gmc is doing the same thing. I'm safe to drive it still though right? Just for a few more days? It warns engine hot occasionally. I turn my car off and turn it back on it goes away. I'm going to try and replace that part this weekend. Thanks for the video. Better angles than the other one I watched.

      Yes I drove around with mine for a month before I replaced because it didn't happen every time I drove. Maybe 3 or 4x a week. The temp needle would drop and the AC wouldn't work for a while. You should be ok.

    I changed my sensor and my Acadia continues to do the same. I can turn it on from sitting overnight and it’ll start right at 210. I turn it off and back on and it’ll. To around 180. I have no issues with the truck , it doesn’t stop on me or do t he fan issues everyone speaks of. Any ideas what it can be ?

    I changed mine in my 2008 acadia didn't have do all that. You should have small extensions and broken nuckle extensions. Wouldn't have put your ratchet down there like that. Also reason why a shop would have had it done easier. Funny how all the videos iv seen no one shows then taking it out or the struggle getting it out. All I see is videos talking about where it is and what they did to get too it. Be nice too see someone actually work on there vehacle

Make sure that you don’t mistakenly leave out any information so that your video will be the only one folks need to watch to get this job done huh!?? I will keep on the lookout for it but maybe until u post it you should have a little respect for the ones who actually took their time to make a video to help people out with similar things they struggled with when trying to do the job themselves… Unless you have a video then don’t talk sh!t about anyone else’s it’s not a good look!
