- I show you around my base that I built on a Official PVP Server all by myself, it took over 4 months to build. I show you all my best tips and ideas on how to make the best base that you can, and how to to keep it from being raided. The base is at 63 / 43 and its size is 7x9. I build this mainly with a metal pick then an Ankylo later, most of the stone for the paste was picked up by hand and it was well before the times of Quetzals/Quetzal farming, dodecs, frogs, or beaver dambs.

Here in 2021 for the nostalgia, I remember watching this 5 years ago as a beach bob and Nooblets was the reason I started playing Ark. I have had an amazing Adventure in Ark and joined the biggest megas on PS4 like prime unity vVv and Space Cowboys Black Zero and now Underground. I did everything that you can do in this game and it was a big part of my life and it was great while it lasted. I could not have gotten where I am today if it wasn’t for Steve. Thank you for being such a great teacher ❤️

I remember when this video came out i was like "yoooo what is this game?!" Then i bought it, I laughed, i cried, i raided, i wiped, i insided, I explored all the maps, made allies, made enemies, grinded, got raided, got wiped, made it to alpha tribe, tamed, breeded, build, got into megatribe, sadly i meshed, i got meshed, I got anxious, i quit the game & i deleted the game. what a great experience.

+David Hickey You would be able to build something like that pretty quick now, mine only took so long because it was without a quetzal, stone dino or frog and that made it take much longer, I was basicly picking stones up by hand at the time lol

Just watched this again after you put it out back then still a good watch
You seem to only have 75 ammo in each turret up top and I can't imagine much more than that being in the ones on the left and right down below. All your turrets are on high range too, which means they have the same range as the plants. This means your plants aren't able to push back the turtles far enough to stop raiders soaking up his bullets. If you change the turrets to medium they'll still shoot down rockets and grenades, but they'll allow the plants to do the heavy lifting against Rexes and Turtles trying to soak bullets. That's a really major issue. Probably the biggest.
I do like your bollards. I feel stupid for not considering pillars to protect plants on my bases in the past. Another thing I liked is the design of the access to the killzone (a window's hinge will always be on the left of the frame, you can flip it by making the frame face inward so the window opens on the right. this allows greater field of vision of your front door from that killzone). It's not necessarily any more defensible where you have those doors, but those windows are only of use while the 2nd gate still holds anyway, so by having the access points behind the 2nd gate you save space elsewhere in the base and allow the raiders less room to move. You also offer the raiders more doors to blow into, which forces them to choose where they want to spend that precious C4 they brought.
I really enjoy seeing how space-efficient your little base is. It may not seem like much to someone else, but your setup in the egg pen under the Anky ramp shows that you're very good with spacial awareness. You fully utilise that area reducing the overall size and cost of the base, which as a solo player I know you must have thought about. This is again shown later in the video when you walk through your little storage box corridor past the downstairs Fabricator. While on the topic of efficiency, the irrigation out front is an unnecessary expenditure, as your plants are in the sun and the crop plots will collect rainfall anyway.
When the video got to showing your panic room I became worried that people tossing grenades at you while you're defending that room with the windows would hit the generator. Advising people to build on pillars just leaves people open to having entire sections of their base sheared off by a raider who makes it under there with a stack of C4. Pillars are very vulnerable. Put a turret or some of your dimorphadons down there on aggressive to protect them. There's a few other minor things along the same vein, but all in all you did a fantastic job especially as a solo player with no access to the glories of Quetzal mining.
Another thing you did very well, while not related to your base, was your narration of the video. Clear and concise! No wasted words. I liked it =)
+graog123 This really isn't as big an issue on official due to how extremely difficult it is to tame big dinos that even stand a chance to survive the assault. Being poked by autos tend to scare off/panic many official pvpers as they don't want to lose 4-10 hours of work. On many unofficial servers with modified settings, I would agree with you 100%, because you can afford to forgo the mind games due to your enemy not caring about losing dinos during an assault.
In the end, you want your base to appear deadlier than it really is so that the bigger tribes choose to attack a base that seems easier. If they want in, what you said really wont make a difference at all against the alpha tribes.
argottobob Nonsense. All you need is a 50+ turtle with a primitive saddle and you'll chew through a turret's reserves with so few bullets

Watching this video again for the nostalgia, wish ark was this simple now/there were some servers that allowed bases to be built like this now, so much more though goes into it then the typical towers and boxes now

lol not much all my stuff and time went into to building my base. ...and that the joke if anyone raided me, they would have to spend a shit load of explosives to get in my base and take down my vault, but they wouldnt find much and it would be a huge loss to them :P

I was at 26 64 I think. in the canyon. theres only 2 ways in/out. so if you tried getting a rex in it would die from fall damage if you didnt use gates. no one knew where I was until I kicked a tribe mate (and became solo) and she got winked at a dude to come wipe me while I was offline. I didnt realize how important plants were
That place is called "hidden lake".
and btw. If you jump off the dino right before it lands, then neither you or the dino will take any fall damage :)

Noob this is absolutely fantastic. I wish I had someone with your talent and brilliant mind on my server to help with my tribes base setup. I feel if anybody attacked your solo base they would just up and leave due to being so frustrated. Very well done.

Because its boring? How can you play on pve. You cant kill anyone, you cant rob anyone. The only thing to do there is build bases and tame. But its realy boring. If in game like 7 days to die pve is realy challenging and fun, in Ark its boring.

Hey nooblets, I really enjoy all of your content, it's taught me a ton of what I know about this beautiful game, is there anyway we could maybe play together on a server? I'm pretty good at the game, and I feel like it'd be tons of fun. I know how to get from 1-70 in about 2 hours (time varies depending on your luck) by solo killing alphas with a crossbow, it gives tons of Xp and loot. I could catch up with you on a server quick. Question: how do you plan the base? Do you sketch it out and plan how you will be raided? Where they will attack, how they'll attack, where you'll escape, range of turrets, and etc?
This is the definition of paranoia
paranoia is being on ark 24/7 with no social life making sure everything is perfect and covering your base in turrets, he was strategical and said "a second job" which means at max it was only half of his time, so no dude thats not paranoia. :P
mc dazzle well you it's best to be paranoid when not being paranoia gets you killed in remember my first time playing ark online I made a nice little cabin hidden in the trees by this beautiful lake I though I was doing pretty good for myself until one day i heard a large dinosaur walking outside it eventually passed and everything was fine again until that night i was just sittin in my thatch hut with the fire on and two guys started breaking my door down and they were even whistling at me so i turned my fire off and sat in the darkness until they took the door down all i saw were two dark figures emerge from the smoke (Yes there was smoke in the doorway for some reason) Next thing i know im dead it was like something out of a movie

For the plant species x outside, no irrigation is needed. They have a decreased water consumption rate and initially filling them after you plant a seed will easily last forever because of repeated rainfall.

Man, I'm just impressed, I started by watching your Ark beginner tutorial out of curiosity for the game as it reminded me of minecraft, NOW THEN I WOULD HAVE NEVER IMAGINE this game to enable such creative minds to get involved at those lengths. Alright I don't understand half of the stuff you demonstrate in this one but I can get the degree of commitment put into that from a simple spear craft to THIS LEVEL OF AMAZEMENT. Bro I don't want to ever touch that game because it could cause the end of me as I just picture myself on that hard stubborn bird I just tamed literally flying over that dead shit trial of a pit AND FREAKING NOTICING IT. DAIM.

knowing me, I'll fly over it, if I see it, go and check it out, and just get ripped to shreds because of my curiosity. then I'll be sad about my new 130+ bird dying and losing all of my gear, then I'll come back like an hour or two with a full on war party, to avenge myself, although it was me who had myself killed.
then if I came across your sign. It'll trigger my curiosity and I will end up checking it out and most likely dying, then I'll try to get my stuff, but die again and lose another dino, then I'll be pissed and come back like a hour or two with a full on war party, to avenge myself and my dinos. but then if I lose, or don't have enough C4 or gear, I would just die inside, watching everything just crumble before me, will just break my heart. seeing all my hard worked dinos and gear lost, for no gain.
then I'll forget about it like a hour later and be like fresh start, gear up again, and get myself killed and shortly gain or loose everything, once again, and be like fresh start again. that's just the story of me, can't survive because of my stupid curiosity.
Even though its a metal box death machine, its a really comfy looking base. Not only do the trees provide protection, but just having that canopy above you is quite relaxing. And the inside looks nice and cozy, in there with all your beloved pets. I like it.
if they want to destoy your base they just have to blow up the pillars...

This is the best solo base i'v seen so far .
One thing I had seen on a video id seen just before is that you can put turrets on catwalks, which allow them to shoot vertically downwards, mitigating any wallhuggers.

You should create things like this on a private server just to not risk a server wipe destroying it all.
As always, perfect video and audio... and it just shows how much there already is to learn in this game, which still is only in the alpha phase.

Even though this video is over a year old, this is still one of the best official pvp videos of all time, Nooblets complete prowess and understanding of what he's speaking of is completely awe inspiring, this video reminds me of what ark used to be, and not stupid tek raids where alpha tribes just transfer gigas into other people's bases and completely destroying bases from the inside out
