  • A new report is shedding light on the amount of red tape independent businesses have to deal with, saying it is stagnating growth.
The report, released by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) found that small businesses in Canada spent 735 hours complying with regulation last year, with more than a third of that spent on red tape that could be eliminated without compromising public health and safety.
“Business owners lose an entire month’s worth of productivity to filling out lengthy or redundant forms, navigating mazes of government websites, and deciphering government jargon. That is crucial time that could be better spent on activities like training staff, planning business expansions, serving customers or even spending time with family,” Emily Boston, senior policy analyst with CFIB said in a statement.
The report found that time spent on red tape increased by 35 per cent since 2020 and from 189 hours in 2020 to 256 hours in 2024.
As Alissa Thibault reports, it's estimated compliance is costing businesses across the country billions of dollars in productivity every year.

Its ridiculous. One mom and pop business has to deal with: Regional District, City, Provincial, Federal, Insurance, Building Inspector, Fire Inspector, Engineers, Electrical Inspector, Septic Inspector, Revenue Canada, Lawyers, Accountants, Consultants, WCB, ... thats my list. Revenue Canada is a time wasting nightmare. Oh also, property tax has tripled and insurance is double what it used to cost. Passive income taxed at 32% If your business gains a lot of value and you sell 67% Capital Gains tax.
This is what corruption looks like!

I think corruption would like the opposite. Go to third world countries if you don’t like rules?…

All of that was my first thought but what the business owner here would rather complain about is sick day pay.
Doesn't sound like a red tape issue to me. I agree there is too much of it, but when given a platform to talk about it, wasn't what came to her mind.

They are already in Ontario for last 7 years. Inflation high. Crime high. Fake college scams on the rise. Student permit scams on the rise. Bribery in truck driving licensing. Long wait times in hospitals. Big class room sizes and rmuch more. They just dont own anything. They say its liberal government.

This is the world we live in get use to it, become a conspiracy theorist or go crazy.
What people don't understand about a conspiracy theorist it's not that they want to be right, in actually they wish they were wrong.

As a newbie investor, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Ruth Ann Tsakonas is my trade analyst, she has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns.

I managed to grow a nest egg of around 120k to over a Million. I'm especially grateful to Adviser Ruth Ann Tsakonas, for her expertise and exposure to different areas of the market.

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than $200k passively by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my finances remain secure.. So I really don't blame people who panic.

how would you recommend i enter the crypto market? I am also looking at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What's your take on this approach? and How can i reach her, if you don't mind me asking?
