Zelda...and Harry Mortimers reaction. So beautiful. When I was 11 my brothers dared me to get Harry's autograph at Prestatyn. I was a very thrilled little girl on that day.

Wow, stumbled across this tonight. I was there playing second EE flat bass next to the great Peter Lockett with Leyland DAF band. I was 16 years old kid and thought Dick Evans was a remarkable showman.

Love Bramwell Tovey's flamboyant conducting, but of course Howard Snell's conducting is an artform of the highest order. Great bands too.

Ahhh take me back to the 80s when I was so much happier despite everything and I was nuts about brass banding. Robert Watson ..... brother of James perchance? Looks very like his late brother from behind ....as a neutral I'm glad Martin Winter won the soloist's prize that day; I like his style, not only technically assured but he doesn't just stand up and play the piece ..... he actually plays TO the audience which is rarer than hen's teeth And how nice to see HM's emotional response as he was playing. What memories it must have evoked ...

No wonder I felt compelled to move this direction in 87
