Realizing that things have gotten out of hand, Jinki challenges GUI to a fight in the hopes of correcting the A.I. Remembering the joy for vanguard his brother possessed, Jinki desparetly tries to show GUI the error of its ways. I already watched the episode, so I was laughing hysterically at you in the first five minutes. We both have a new deck to main!
I also really liked the animation's callback to Michiru's encounter.
In the lore, Alden was elevated from ground-dwelling commoner to Cloud Knight. Perhaps, in the aftermath of Youthberk's revolution, the nobility and commoners finally came together.

I love Alden as a vanguard. Aside form Ezel who's an encounter, he feels like the Keter omage to Golds that we've been waiting for, and he's beautiful!

@@godsman00 Speaking of our newest Keter units! So, Youthberk's revolution is recorded as an "attempted" rebellion, but I'm pretty sure he just convinced Bastion, and Bastion put forth the changes. Alden informed Bastion that the ground-dwellers wouldn't let him resign from being the leader of the Cloud Knights, so it makes sense to me that Alden (who was originally from the ground) has become a liason between heaven and earth.

I like the concept. Jinki trying to "White Knight" using Shingi's deck in which the knight Alden finally stood on his own feet as a leader instead of being a supporter for Bastion, a depiction of Shingi's personality.
But Gui's victory has proven that it has surpassed Shingi's ideals and has gone beyond mad, like Masanori said. Deep meanings make a good story for a card game anime and the cards' stories
Totally! I also like the symbolism they infuse in the cards and fights. Alden as a vanguard is so beautiful because he's essentially a reflection of Shinji; a shining warrior who can connect everyone, both strong and weak, under a common sentiment.
Really don't like Griphogila getting the OT earlier but i guess it only makes sense. Alden as a vanguard was really cool and got me thinking about old suport cards as vanguard, like Marjorie.
Also, can we just say that this was a takuto vs reverse takuto situation(new alden/Scissors, new gripho/glendios)

Born on the ground, rose to the sky as a cloud knight, and now Alden connects the two. Its so sweet that Griphogilla decided to follow Alden's example and connect one side of Cray with the other.
From a design/flavor stand point it focuses on three different grades with its additional attack (Groan) being tied to that. Nice touch is that instead of requiring three grade 3 specifically for its on attack it now requires three different original grades (Validating something I'm working on as well, which is a nice bonus). Found it neat that its costs are a flipping of its original forms cost. I also just happy to get a new boss unit for my drafts which is a huge plus in my books.
Now I want to do some customs where you take an important rear-guard and spin it off for its own deck. Think it be fun.

Gonna have to wait and see exactly what the wording on that set order is. Specifically the Calamity removal ability. It put the top card of the deck into the damage zone facedown, but was it as part of a cost, a part of the ability, do I put it if I have four or less or if I have five am I just dead? Questions to be answered on Tuesday I suppose, though in the episode Gui took the single damage hit instead of the two damage hit, so maybe?

It's a cool design, I dig that they kept the pot of greed skill to keep stability, and the self bouncing finally makes a couple cards in keter make more sense. As a keter main, I think Alden has fair potential as a deck because of how strong its midrange can be, though in typical Golds fashion the strength of the board largely depends on what pieces you see. But yeah, it's gonna be a helluva fun deck, kinda feels like what folk were thinking Accord was going to do so those sort of customs found a new home here lol.
Neat name pun aside, the devil is definitely in the details here. one thing I'm concerned about is the consistency of this new strategy. Between the 2 new G11s, that's more deck space used on these sorts of cards. Vartex shouldn't be too bad and always having the 10k and crit is nice, though I wonder if we'll still need to run OG Griphogilas. If it's just for the extra draw, revive, and marker, that is decent incentive though it also leave room to not max out OG.
Then again, OG Griphogila should be at multiple copies since the rideline necessitates it to consistently ride form deck. Overall it's tough but I'm guessing the actual effect will include a couple quality of life bit to make things easier like Vartex fetching the new order and whatnot. The damage one specifying four or less like you mention would be another one. Looking forward ot what we get!
@@godsman00 might be able to get away with two of the OG Griphogila if you don't care about persona riding which the grade 11 doesn't have. It doesn't come up much but can still ride a Griphogila from hand too
From what the episode sees:
The griphogila looks pretty strong.
The order grade 11.
Its searches by grade 11 griphogila skill.
The order has 3 parts.
-1st skill. Put a trigger to ride deck. To call a card from drop.
-2nd skill. Discard a griphogila. To redraw 1 and add a marker.
-3rd skill. Top card to damage face down. Remove a calamity.
Third effect might be the hardest one since you need to keep yourself at 4. Unless bushi prints something to heal our damage.
Good breakdown, I think you're right on the money here.
That said, I think they could also have the skill only damage you if you're at 4 or less damage, so it pressures you into a corner but doesn't threaten lethal. I hope it's like this because man folks love to rush Griphogila.
A update after the card reveals:
Gui mentions getting Gripho Eschatologui to the order zone, and not from where he got it. It turns out Eschatologui is a Token Set Order. If the small text that says Order on the side of its name, it couldve been revealed quickly.
The 1st skill is a Start of Main Phase skill. To move triggers to Ride Deck can mean that the triggers can be used in some way there. Turns out Vartex can actually force activate them like the Overtrigger. Also the revival skill makes sense to revive Dragontree units. But, i didn't expect it to actually be the Race instead.
The 2nd skill and 3rd skill is rather a combined skill, which makes sense. Discard 1 "Griphogila" card to Draw 1 and get a Dragontree Marker. Which apparently chooses ANY RC, much like Griphosid, but wasn't as obvious until Erosion was a thing. And the Top Card to dmg facedown was a different cost after doing the 2nd Skill, as this skill is actually a 1/Turn. And it accelerates the turns you need to use Griphogila's full power.
Now for Vartex's skill, its first skill is, you guessed it, Set a Gripho Eschatologui Token to your Order Zone. Similar to a crest, but not really. From what i heard, it also procs Akzeriyuth too if its on the board.
Second skill is, gets 10k and 1 crit during your turn. No Dragontree Marker requirement.
Third Skill is, which wasn't revealed in the Anime, is get 10k continous power as long as you have 10 Hydragrum and/or Dragontree Markers combined in RC. It makes it a 28k base. Sick right?
Fourth Skill is basically like original Griphogila. Remove 1 calamity, or if you can't, restand all rg on markered RC. But the difference is, you can activate ANY trigger, not just OT. Meaning even after or before activating the OT, u can choose a trigger set by Eschatologui as cost to be activated. Then it gets banished. Pretty neat ngl

Let's not forget that the order adds triggers to the ride deck. So the new Gripho probably can remove those after the over trigger.

Did you notice that the order card is called Eschatologui it's a play between the word Eschatology, which is basically talking about the "end" usually meaning the apocalypse or something similar(has a lot of relation with religion), and Gui the AI? It was in the subs just so you know.
Yeah Dues pointed it out too, the name looks weird at first but when ya break it down it's terrifying, essentially saying that Gui is the final destination.

@@minzejp7341 well, i actually imagine that YuYu will ride Esperaridea over Nirvana. It will symbolize as YuYu revenge from ep 1, and that Trickstar with Blaze Maidens can stood up even if Nirvana's absence, and Vairina will act as Vanguard that can lead people's hopes and prayers.

Even after his training with Danji... he was still overly focused on just beating Gui for his own self-satisfaction in the name of "your own style" (which would be interesting to go from the leader of Blackout to an eventual tyrant).
Bushiroad actually made an evolution for Griphogilla to grade 11 with 18k power, and yet they didn't have the balls to give it triple drive as well. But I actually ended up right with Griphogilla getting a set order
Yeah thought about the order too, heck pretty much every theory I had came true which was unexpected. Still, this fight completely surpassed even those expectations, the fact that Vartex is G11 and 18k base makes it feel so grand and unstoppable like how Valk was (albeit that thing had an absurd amount of power lol). I wonder how consistent thsi new strategy will be though ngl, lots of moving pieces.

To start, I really like the new Griphogila in terms of art. Skill wise it’s cool too, but I will say there are a few deck building issues to consider: for one, since both the new Griphogila and its order are Grade 11, they’re literally dead cards in your hand until you ride up, which isn’t until at the earliest Turn 4. But the other issue is they’re vital to have ready, so you might need to run extra copies to make sure you see them. In addition, we don’t know enough of what effects belong to the order and the new Griphogila, but judging by the wording in the episode, most of the effects belong to the set order (GUI never actually says “Griphogila Vartex’s skill” until the literal Overtrigger and Power/Crit gain). Not only that, while the Calamity acceleration is neat, you’re also praying you don’t get aggro’d and needing to heal constantly to make sure you don’t die, especially given how aggressively offensive the meta is. To top it all, safe to assume you specifically need the OG Griphogila to use the set order, which means you need to have by the start of turn 4/5 a total of three bricks in your hand unless you’re lucky and draw into one. I do think Vartex is gonna be good for the deck, but the deck builds and ratios are gonna have to be perfect by a single card to be consistent enough to work against half the decks out there. Also gonna say the best Vartex nation is gonna be the one that draws the most cards, so make of that what you will. Personally gonna stick with a Brandt Gate build myself, but once DE also once again benefits a LOT from this being able to go Espereridea a turn early and deckout not being as much of a concern for the restand
Great points, I play the deck a fair bit so I had similar concerns on the feasibility of this new strategy. I'm content to believe that Bushi will add in a couple quality of life effects to make the whole thing come together. I think we won't need OG Gripho for the early remove skill- that seems to be the self-damage part- but for the revival and marker it's still useful to have them so yeah more bricks shield-wise.
Like you said though, this is probably good for the deck. If we can place the order from deck or drop zone, then players only need to run 1-2 of the set order and they're fine. But we'll have to see, I'm gonna start with the keter variant cuz it's my favorite nation plus there's good generic draw/search cards.
@@godsman00 I hear that, if riding into the new Gripho gets us the Set Order automatically, that'd fix a lot of things concerns I have for the deck. I'm thinking of running only three of OG Gripho myself, any other build I'd also recommend Masque of Hydragrum to boost consistency since it can also search out Hydragrums, but BG def doesn't have the space for that lmao

The best nation might depend on the cycle cards this set tbh. A 15k shield g3 and pretty strong on place effect (this is assuming the KS g3 shield effect isn’t only for it.) Personally I’d put a pretty high margin on DE because of how much shield value it’ll have after the cycle card and Esper still being a thing.

This episode was pretty cool and does a critic to the current state of vanguard if you ask me. The new grade 11 is amazing and does make sense gived one of the calamity cards does spoil you on it since this is the last stage of this parasitic being evolution from a seed to a beast of destruction that ends up getting rid of it's host.
The new Alden is neat but is kinda of a shame they brought back Ezel instead of giving this guy his effects and printing more support for it

Yeah, it kinda taints his feel as the Gold Paladin keter unit when Ezel exists but hey I think his effects are still well done and capture the essence of the strategy.
I don't have much to mention about this episode, but hi! I only missed one reaction which is the Megumi episode I skipped it for my little sensitive heart lmao (I personally enjoyed that episode except for how Danji acted) but finally getting back into this now, this episode was really good I just don't really have much to comment, also don't forget we also haven't seen a Brandt Gate Dragontree and I can see why because like post Vartex there's no build for Brandt Gate that can really make it work without being crappy, I used a Monster build pre Vartex and it worked pretty good but post Vartex there's no space :/
Also I prefer using Cadwalla and the new Dragontree wretch g2 for Keter, I add some of the three damage face down ccer too or the g0 blitz order, the 15k shield intercepts are unreliable in a removal meta
Truly, Masque and Dragontree's biggest Calamity is the destruction of deck space 😅

Keter no, because 1 problem, this is mill yourselves, you have only 39 cards In the start. 5 damage every turn draw and check trigger this is -22-23 cards and this is when only over trigger starts.
16 cards left. If 1 draw, 1 heal triggers so 14. And some cards skill, because this is keter, from deck minus 3-5 cards, this 10 left.
With over trigger your rear going to check this is 2-4 cards. 6-7 left.
I don't know... and this is without persona ride and more skill when you call from deck or draw. So 5 or 3 cards left. 1 draw in the next turn and 2 check this is last card. 10th turn over trigger, opponent survived this turn somehow and can't win on 11th. So 12th turn starts and this will be the last one. Because you don't have cards in the deck.
Imagine dark states gripho on soul charge. When you put in soul 5 or more cards. Or restand V ( empire) or more draw when stoicheia. I think only 1 good deck for gripho here. And this is brandt gate. Over trigger alow you all double critical, and even more, 4 criticals.. double attack to all, 200 mill. Hard to defend. This is last attack. If not you can win on the next turn not even 99 %, this is 100 %. And only 1 problem. Brandt version not mill yourself, but you don't have so much deffence in this nation. Because orders, yes you can use it or not, but orders good in brandt for gripho. This is only my thought. I think vanguard decks might be 54-60 cards in deck. And do some shit with over trigger. Probably too late, but there's kind of a reason for it being grade 11. The OG Griphogila is G10 due to Dragontree being pronounced as ryuju with the ju sounding like 10 in Japanese. Not only that, Griphogila is a reference to the Qliphoth in Kabbalah, which is the inverted evil tree as opposed to the tree of life, Sephiroth. I will make reference to the Sephiroth rather than Qliphoth as the Qliphoth, while is what Griphogila is based on, is not as well explored. However it being a direct opposite of the Sephiroth gives a vague idea of the meaning.
The Sephiroth has 10 spheres (sephirah) that all represent a state of being with the top sephirah, Keter (yes that same Keter) being where God resides in. Each sephira also has a name of the angel that guards it. However there is a hidden sephirah that some people argue isn't technically one. Da'at is the "11th sephirah" that represents knowledge and to get assess to this sphere, you will need to cross the Abyss.
Vartex refers to that 11th sephirah but on the Qliphoth instead of the Sephiroth. An interesting note is all 9 Dragontree Wretches revealed so far (with the DE G2 most likely revealed soon) all are references the names of the demons that guard the spheres of the Qliphoth.
