Thank you for your kind words. It is nice to hear that people enjoy the videos. they do take quite a bit of time to make; but, I feel it is a good way to promote the breed. I wish I had a bigger audience so more people could learn about how great greyhounds are and to break any myths about them

He looks a happy dog. We thought long about adopting a greyhound, but decided to volunteer as Guide Dog puppy walkers instead. Our first puppy arrives 4 weeks today. He's a yellow lab x golden retriever.
Our puppy supervisor has a greyhound and we still hope a grey is somewhere in our future.

Well he has to supervise to make sure the recipe and prep is just right! Exacting standards, you know.

As usual, more "supervisor" than helper. My greyhound Dodge always has an opinion, but never seems to put in any actual work. He seems to say something about not having thumbs, but I just think it's an excuse.

He thinks of himself as upper management, an ideas guy and not someone to get his paws dirty doing work.

My wife is an artist that works from home and our Greyhound has gone through several positions with her company. He started as shipping manager, but the tape gun scares him, so he has made upper management as, "VP of good moods and positive attitudes"

been watching loads of your videos, thinking about getting a longsnoot soon. have you done a video on the meals you prep for your pup?

    • @magnusgreyhound
      @magnusgreyhound  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for watching. I made a video early on in our adoption which covered Magnus's diet and food prep. it's called "Magnus the dogs dinner" or something like that. the only real difference from then to now is that we take some of his dinner portion and fill the Kongs with that rather then peanut butter. that way he is not over eating. if you click on my icon you should be able to find the video.

Cheers mate, I'll see if I can find it! My first experiences of greyhounds were when I was living in Scotland. I was living on Orkney and someone would take their hound for a walk by my house driving down the road along the coast in front of it. Saw a couple running through the woods at night at kelvingrove park owner unseen.

We were anxious about how Magnus's care would fit in with our work schedule when we adopted him as he did suffer from some separation anxiety at first. We tackled this initially by sending him to daycare for 2 days a week and a dog walker for the rest of the work week. After Magnus settled into his new life we switched to just the dog walker. this has worked out well. The dog walker takes Magnus out for walks during the work week. He is generally out of the hours for a few hours each day, he has settled into this routine and is quite happy. in addition to the dog walker, I take Magnus for an hour walk each morning before I depart for Work. We have also purchased toys to stimulate Magnus in our absence. the biggest thing we have found to keep Magnus settled is sticking to a routine as best as you can. Lastly, greyhounds love to sleep and spend the vast majority sleeping in their beds. I am working on a video of an average day in his life so you will get an idea of how much they sleep. hope to get it posted on youtube shortly

It's great to see Magnus running for fun. Besides being a great "Sous Chef", he is also an athlete. The greyhound running mechanics is unique: the sons of the wind. Love them. 😊

Have some more from a friend which may interest you. Please feel free to print and share!
If you’re feeling adventurous, some (with reprint permission) recipes from a friend in Canada who cooks for her dog:
    BERNIE’S BEEF STEW
    Ingredients:
    1 cup hamburger meat
    2 hard boiled eggs, chopped
    ½ cup cooked brown rice
2 jars of baby food veggies (peas, green beans, carrots & spinach)
2 tbsp. fat free cottage cheese
    1 tbsp. olive oil
    Method:
In a pan, cook meat with olive oil. Once meat is brown, drain excess grease from meat. Then add eggs, rice, cottage cheese and vegetables. Mix well. Let food cool to room temperature.
    Serving size: 2-3 cups
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    BERNIE’S BONEY COOLERS
    Ingredients:
2 fresh beef (or other species) marrow bones each at least 1 inch (2.5cm) long
    Water
    Method:
In about 2 qtr. pan, put in the bones and add enough water to cover the bones. Bring water to the boil, continue to boil for 10 minutes (more time is ok for a richer broth). Remove bones and return any marrow to the liquid, along with any meat you can get off the bones. Chop up the marrow/meat/gristle into little bits and put them into each section of the freezer tray. Freeze solid,
Serve 2-3 cubes on a very hot day (not too many if you made the broth very rich with extra bones or lots of marrow).
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    BERNIE’S BIANCA BISCUITS
    Ingredients:
    ½ cup water
    ½ cup oil
    2 eggs
3 tbsp. peanut butter (natural if possible)
2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
    ½ cup oats
Method: Add wet ingredients to dry and mix well. Transfer to a floured surface and knead until dough holds together. Roll out until ½ inch thick and cut with cookie cutters. Bake on a parchment lined cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 375 deg F. Cool on a wire rack.
    BERNIE’S BREAKFAST BARS
    Ingredients:
    12 cups oatmeal
    4 cups whole wheat flour
    8 eggs
    ¾ cup oil
    2/3 cup honey
    ½ cup molasses
    2 cups milk
1 large can solid pack pumpkin (optional, not pie filling)
    3 - 4 mashed bananas (optional)
Method: Preheat oven to 325 deg F. Grease 2 biscuit sheets. Dump everything into a VERY large bowl. Mix this whole mess together, pat onto greased sheets and bake at 325 deg F for an hour. After 1 hour turn oven off and open oven door to allow biscuits to cool in oven. Break into whatever size you want. They also freeze very well.
    BERNIE’S POOCHIE CAKES
    Ingredients:
    1 ½ cups brown rice
    3 cups water
    2 large potatoes, grated
    4 large carrots, grated
    2 large celery stalks, chopped
    6lbs ground beef
    8 eggs
    1 dash salt
    ¼ cup olive oil
1 ½ cups regular rolled oats
    Method:
    1. Preheat oven to 400 deg F (205 C). Grease 36 cups of large muffin tins.
    2. In a medium saucepan combine the rice with water. Bring to boil over high heat uncovered and cook for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 20 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool several minutes, then fluff with a fork and set aside.
    3. In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, carrots, celery, ground beef and eggs. Mix ingredients together using your hands or a sturdy spoon. Add salt, olive oil, rolled oats and rice. Mix well.
    4. Fill each muffin cup with some of the meat mixture and pat down to make it firm. Bake 45 minutes or until surface feels set. Cool on a rack 10 or more minutes.
    5. Remove the meat cakes by turning muffin tin upside down over a sheet of aluminium foil. Tap each muffin cup to release the cake. Refrigerate or freeze in sealed plastic bags.
DO NOT FEED TO DOGS WHEN STILL HOT.
