- Custom Tesla VS 3' deep lake! Today we do the Mojave road with a custom modified perviously totaled tesla model 3 and compare it to a fully built $100,000 Jeep Gladiator overland machine. Will the Tesla survive the rock obstacles and deep water crossing? Find out here! This Might just be an Off roading fail.

im literally dumbfounded that they didn't seal the inside. Like it works on stock teslas because tesla has sealed the frunk so when it rains you don't get alot of water in your frunk. However when you cut open the hood and expose all the wiring you would assume the "submarine mode" doesn't work anymore.

If you've watched rich rebuilds floods and teslas dont usually seem to be a good combo
@@cheesecurd100s yes I watched all of rich's videos and those are cars that SAT in water for like a week. Not cars that just drove through water. The salvage cars he fixed literally had rust and corrosion from sitting in the water so long

The frunk seal seals the plastic tub in the frunk, not the parts underneath and around the tub. Nice try though.

i can't even waterproof the tiny wiring harness on my motorcycle. imagine the work to waterproof that tesla, sheeeeeeeeesh

You should look up “Chillin with Chet” he drove his Tesla Plaid through about the same depth and had very similar problems. Check out his channel and the water video. I’m sure you guys can come up with some great info.

Technically speaking, if you can figure out a way to travel at light speed, then time would appear to stop for you from the perspective of an outside observer. So the statement "go fast, don't die" is actually true.

The plug right by the fireman's wire does the same thing from what I've seen. They do the fireman's wire coz it's easier to do in a hurry

On M3 there is no plug, but the connector to the BMS under the rear seat is very easy and is probably the easiest without cutting a wire. No tools required 😉
I wonder if you held the throttle in a constant position slowly if it would grab the brakes applying power to the wheels with the most traction. I know in my h3t even without the lockers engaged if you slowly press the gas and just maintain constant throttle pressure it would act as a positive.

4:22 is an excellent demonstration of how much twist axle shafts are capable of. The driver's side twisted nearly 45 degrees before the passenger side began moving. Really cool.

That water wasn't deep for the Tesla. I seen someone going through water that was half way up the windshield. Trucks were stalled but the electric cars is heavy and doesn't need air.
yea its fine for a normal tesla but these guys cut a hole in the hood and exposed all the wiring.

Teslas don't do well driving through water, there are plenty of examples on the net...

Can't remember the guys name but he was low on power & they towed it on regen. It charged up quicker than the charging station.

I've watched someone flat tow their tesla to see if it worked. They went plenty over 15mph and it worked fine without being blown up.
Was the Tesla powered on, if there is no power at all it will be bad since there is no regulations
The M3 has permanent magnets so it would be bad.
It's fine if it's on because then the extra energy goes back into the battery

I roughed a heated seat and t-shirt system into my e-scooter running off of the 12v system and using a buck converter to get the voltage just where I like it. Luckily it uses common off the shelf cheap fuses you can grab at any electronics store. Went from a 2a fuse to 5a and no more dying scooter, now with a built in heating system.

I'd say spray foam the shit out of it and the seal the doors. You'll have to dukes of Hazzard it to get in and out . But you probably won't have to worry about flooding it again.

I don't know about the rest of you,but I was totally charged up for this.It was electrifying.I got a tingle myself,thinking of that huge battery underwater.Did you guys wade downstream and pick up pre-cooked dinner?I hope you guys don't get allot of static over this short trip.
Next time you want to hard reset the vehicle without cutting the first responder loop, take ground off 12v battery, and then disconnect the grey logic connector on the penthouse under the back seat on the passenger side. The grey logic connector (HVC) connector will open the power switches (contactors) and do a full 12v reset. You'll hear a clunk noise, that is the power switches opening. Then your first responder loop doesn't have to be messed with.

FYI There is a page on the touchscreen to put the car in "Tow Mode" which will release the park brake. I would not recommend going through more than a foot of water for any length of time due to the pak flood ports being so low. The flood port sensors likely are the reason the computer shut the car down. Always enjoy the videos. So much to learn so little time. Thanks

last nite i drove my '07 chrysler t&c minivan through about 200', of foot and a half deep water full of ice chunks, and tore half of my front bumper skin off. why you might ask? a low spot with half frozen, standing water, on an unfamiliar road, at 11 pm, in february. that's why. i didn't get stuck or die, so that's a plus. the frankenstitched zip ties holding the plastic together now look kinda cool, but i'm not sure how they'll hold up over time, so that's a wash. your puddle was twice as deep, warm, and fried out your electrical system, stranding you. ex-mommy van for the win! lol!
