I think the most underrated part of this whole storyline is that it takes like 20 seconds for Andy to even recognize Ron and then he thinks it’s a twin 😂
@@Gamerjoyjoy"I'm not Xena, I'm Lucy Lawless." is a quote from an old Treehouse of Horror with Xena/Lawless in it. Check out the clip sometime, it's fun.
Ben and Leslie figuring it out is still one of my all time favorite scenes in the entire show. The look Amy Poehler produces is absolutely perfect, what an amazing actress. Such a great cast and show.
Donna doesn't look surprised at all when Duke Silver comes out on the stage at the Unity Concert. I bet you all the money in the world that she already knew, she just didn't clue Ron in on it bc that ain't her business in the first place, she ain't gonna blab.
Fun fact: When the writers came up with this whole subplot, they didn’t know that Nick Offerman (who plays Ron) could actually play the saxophone. It was just by sheer coincidence that the writers decided to include it. 😂
1:46 "So, come see me, come talk to me, come love with me, and maybe we can walk through fire together". It's really hard to imagine this came out of Ron Swanson 😂🤣
I disagree I think that this is surprising only because the vast majority of his screen time ron is working for the government. But consider this Ron's passionate hatred of the government is so intense that he goes into the government to be a threat from within. Ron is a man defined by passion so I think that Ron could definitely be that character of Duke Silver who is likewise a soulful and passionate man. And Ron plays the character of Duke Silver while waiting for a woman that is worthy of the passion of Ron.
I love how in that first scene, Tom casually blackmails Mark but it's barely noticeable. Mark seems to wonder if Tom notices doing it himself. But at 0:19 Tom brings up how Mark has to know how it feels because he has a ton of dirt in his past, and Mark wonders just how much Tom knows and doesn't want to find out. If not helping Tom means some of those things might come out... well, it's better to just help Tom. Maybe Tom isn't even doing it. Maybe he is. Either way, Mark buckles.
that was my exact analysis of the scene too. especially the part about mark wondering if tom even realizes what he’s doing. it rlly characterizes tom as deeply manipulative and unwilling to even START by talking to others like human beings. manipulation is his first resort.
Can we speculate that Donna & Jerry know before the Unity concert? Donna is a lady of a certain age who would have at least gone to a gig to find out what all the buzz is about, and Jerry's wife would 100% be a fan, Jerry just wouldn't have noticed until he introduced her to Ron at a function and she told him afterwards.

I always like the fact that Ron is so secretive at the recording session when LITERALLY three of the six coworkers who were with him in the studio -- 50% -- knew the truth. (Yes, Donna knew. No doubt.)
Every video always leaves out Leslie and Ron's talk after the concert. Where Leslie confronts him about being Duke, and saying she hates him and loves him and he's going to teach her how to play saxophone lol
Mark Brendanaquitz was the only normal person in City Hall, so Ron probably dropped his guard around him, but trusted him to keep a secret once he found out.
Considering how dedicated and adamant he was about keeping his secret as Duke Silver that he was going to quit rather than get exposed, just goes to show how much he cherished Lil' Sebastian. He willingly exposed himself publicly to pay his respects to that mini horse.
Fun fact: when most people think of a saxaphone, they think of an Alto. It has a highish range and is tuned in Eb. Ron plays a tenor sax which is lower than the alto and tuned in Bb.
Good news, we live in an age where resources needed to learn any skill possible are a mere button press away; I wish you the best of luck in this endevour.
I'm not so sure about that. Social Media was already a thing in the early 2010s and Ron doesn't use any of those, plus (possibly) doesn't have a cellphone either?! He would be O.K. even in 2023, I guess.
