By adding this subwoofer, does the system automatically eliminate the bass from the small speakers? Or do all the frequencies continue to come out of them, including the bass plus the bass from the sub and the small speakers?
Would you recommend the HD4 over than the HD3 ? Any huge difference? Looking to get a pair but can’t make a decision? Also is the sub needed for the great bass sound? Or the speaker delivering this ? Thanks
The HD4's are really the bigger brother of the 3's and have a larger woofer and case meaning more peak power. Other than that specs are identical. The difference is not huge but their size alone suggests distortion at higher volumes will be less. Both should really ideally be paired with a sub tho (eg: AE's S8) as these small cases give very little bass. Its not a must when first purchasing the 3's or 4's but a sumptuous upgrade from which you'll never look back and wonder how you ever did without.
