As a suggestion I would say try trench weapons from world war I. There is a knife, a cleaver and a club and they use brass in the handles but if you Google them I'm sure you'll love the designs.
Round drum magazines were clockwork--the winder cranked down on a 'clock spring' which pushed the cartridges in the outward spiral, similar to the linear spring in linear magazines. Extra-large winder handles were used with the aircraft machine guns where the gunners would be wearing insulated gloves.
Drums are inferior in that there is no way to reload using clips on the fly--you can't just push five bullets into the magazine like you could in an a Garand, so you needed to carry spare magazines into battle, and back out again.
Awesome Odin, so much detail. For more historical props I suggest some cowboy weapon's. Maybe the Winchester rifle

This reminds me very much of the unlockable Chicago Typewriter, the infinite ammo machine gun, from Resident Evil 4.
Leon even has a mafia outfit to go with it in later versions!
They look amazing as always, also love how excited you get when things work out better than you planned.

Cracking build, and I have to say I’m pleased this wasn’t another live stream.
A small note, but kind of an important one: The charging knob on the top of the Thompson M1928 has a u-notch cut into it to facilitate aiming down sights.
Also you are correct about the drum magazines. You wind them, then lay the rounds in.
Not to mention that all Thompsons, including the 1928s, could use the box magazines.
These are a great costume item. So many things they can be used with from the shown StarTrek, Dick Tracy, Batman villains.

Hey odin , you just said you should have found a 10 mm form ball for the pull knob.
It just made me think of the ball used by nerf rival and it is pretty cheap.
Can be a good idea for a next project.
I made my first prop gun a couple of weeks ago, but god cutting the same pieces 5 times is exhausting, I wish I had one of those hahaha
These guns are really awesome, I really enjoyed this historical project. As a suggestion, perhaps a vintage car grill, like an Auburn Speedster, or. Duesenberg, in foam but with chrome finish... Something that will go well with the Tommy gun on the wall!
With Odins love for con safe huge swords, and with Halloween around the corner, maybe Pyramid Head's Great Knife from Silent Hill? Especially with the buzz around the remake of SH2?

That's just a 1928. The 1928A1 was the military version that had a horizontal foregrip, not the "vertical" pistol grip.
And although they're usually depicted with drums, like all the other variants, the 1928 could use the box magazines.
The part on the muzzle is a "compensator", not a flash suppressor. It's designed to direct a portion of the gas blast up to push the muzzle down to counteract recoil rise.
I feel like there's not as many tips and tricks for people like me who don't have these high end tools. Odin's not the only one. So many of the bigger name makers are showing all about how their lasers let them do things they couldn't do by hand (or make them a lot easier / cleaner / faster). I mean sure you could cut foam by hand, but there's no manual equivalent to etching that very fine very precise lettering on the side of the gun. A band saw or a belt sander are clearly "nice to haves" that just make cutting and smoothing material faster. But multi-thousand dollar laser cutters that can make finer cuts or precisely etch details? That's a barrier to entry to even consider making a prop like this by hand.
Sure there is. You can etch the stuff by hand. A very steady hand and a sharp blade can do sooo many details, including lettering. Or you could make a stamp. You can 3d print the stamp or make one from resin or get like those printer press letters and heat stamp em in. Or a Dremel engraver. It's not as easy or fast as a laser, but it's absolutely possible.
Also I'm pretty sure this laser was only a few hundred, not multi-thousand.

This is quite a fantastic idea for those who want to get a Spicer or a Jack costume for Bioshock. And by the way, for Halloween and as a prop for Bioshock infinite weapons like the Paddywalker revolver, the Triple R machine gun and maybe the China broom shotgun and Vox heater.
Nice!! They look really good! The light sliver added on looks especially nice and realistic. This was a cool project especially since you usually do movie and sci-fi and so something more realistic and historical was a surprise!

As always, you've done an amazing job recreating this iconic gun. I would love to see you craft/build some kind of a greatsword, greataxe or other cool looking weapon from the souls series (dark souls 1, 2 and 3, Demon's souls, Elden ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne).

You could use these in a movie. They look practically like hero props. I'm torn a bit on the style of video though. Don't get me wrong, I totally want a laser cutter because I'm not the steadiest hand-cutter in the world. Without the design/trial and error process it is as Odin himself said - it's like assembling a model kit. Basically in Odin's videos I always feel like I learn something, but didn't in this one. Nothing wrong with that, but I hope some future videos vary it up - some laser cut, some hand cut. Or maybe dwell a little more on the pieces that are coming off the cutter? Don't know. Either way I'm here for the evolution of the channel and maybe I'll get one of them fancy laser cutters...

Could you make Kratos spear? I’m thinking, now idk how useful this suggestion is but, what if you use one of those extendable staffs and maybe attach a spear head to it, so it can pop out of your hand, like from Krato’s ring, or maybe make the spear head out of something flexible so it folds away inside the mechanism and when you pop out the staff it will pop out the spear head too, so it really looks like you are pulling it out of nowhere.

Hey Odin. I've have watched every video you put out. And I have a couple challenges. First, the power rangers weapons. I have seen props but what i haven't seen is the power cannon aka the combined weapon. The second? Using only hand tools make all the megazords, and ultra zords from power rangers, each standing 3 feet tall with a wooden dow skeleton base

Historitorical props, a langesmesser, or kriegsmesser, depending on your preference. A sallet, perhaps a bascinet, yes you pronounce the t in both. More modern ish, a musket, or a flintlock pistol, maybe a pirate hat to go with, pirate sword.the flintlock fork and knife set. Many ideas are had, I should stop myself now, you do some great work and I look forward to the future
