First of all, this is the ideal illustration of how the transport portal is destroying college athletics. On the one side, you have a player who is being reprimanded for fighting and then goes on social media and threatens to leave the program while blaming everyone else for her actions and if the transport portal did not exist, none of this would have happened. Second, you have the USC coach, who is afraid of taking her player out of the game in blowout games because she needs to get her stats, and if she doesn't get the numbers, people will advise her to transfer. And the coaches have lost all control of the game and you have 17-year-olds lecturing 40-year-olds on what to do, which is a recipe for disaster.
I agree with this. This is one of those rare situations where at best “everybody” looks bad. The Rutgers program obviously looks bad, and McMiller looks bad by looking like a whiny uncoachable player with “character problems”. Terrible for both their brands.
This has been happening forever, it is magnified because of social media. People hate the portal because it provides athletes with opportunities to go where they fit instead of programs locking them in and destroying their careers. Coaches have to do their jobs, and athletes are not being exploited financially as easily. There have always been players who end up in conflicts with their coach and team. You can’t take a “star” player throughout their younger years and pair them with other “star” players from their respective high schools and expect them to all be humble. Coaches now have to learn to manage attitudes because it’s harder to punish them if you haven’t built that kind of relationship. I don’t think this situation was handled the best way possible, but these NIL and portal takes always come across as people loved when players could be treated like trash and had to suffer through poor programs/coaches/teammates/environments. @@harveycminusmansfiel Kiyomi McMiller is facing a lot of criticism since she embarrassed an African American coach at one of the most prestigious colleges in the United States, which is located less than 30 miles from New York City. Ultimately, it's not a good look since she jeopardized her coach's career and her coach happens to be none other than the highly decorated Martha Washington, and she holds a Juris Doctor degree and was the first president of the WNBA Players Association, holding that position from 1999.

Seems like the coach punished the team way more than McMiller by allowing them to be chewed out alive which was not fair to the team. Rutgers has been like that for a few years because of poor coaching since the day Washington was hired. With McMiller, it would be at least 15 point deficit. It wouldn't have changed anyway but at least better loss. I'm not certain if that brutal loss had caused McMiller to acknowledge her actions and able to attempt to avoid more unwanted situations and tension in the future. I highly doubt it would work. She sounds like she mostly cares about being the best individual player on the team rather than winning several games. In one interview, she admitted she disliked SC and UConn's styles which included team effort and sharing the ball. She rather wanted to carry the team. McMiller is still young. She has plenty of years of learning. She simply needs patience and self-discipline. She indeed is one of the talented players, just hate to see where she is going right now. Wishing her the best of luck.
She wasn't fighting, and it was reported it was an altercation. I doubt she posted those on her Instagram account, and it appears her Dad is trying to clean up this mess. Carter is one of my favorite players, and she’s going to be working to erase that reputation for the rest of her career. Kiyomi .....We'll love to have you at LSU...
You think LSU wants to invite attitude/immaturity problems into their locker room?
Geneva mentioning Chennedy is right. The same things hampering Carter’s ability to play wherever she wants could impact Kiyomi in a similar way. If people don’t want to work with you, it doesn’t matter how talented you are.
Carter is one of my favorite players, and she’s going to be working to erase that reputation for the rest of her career. It’s the main reason why Sky fans are worried the new regime won’t try to keep her. The same could be in Kiyomi’s future if she doesn’t cool it.
No the hell we don’t lol. We good on the guards we need more Bigs.
@@shiwomino5775I think they wouldn’t mind honestly.
@@Nottii712I don’t know man, nobody likes a whistleblower who will air all your dirty laundry if things aren’t going their way. That is toxic to a locker room. See Diangelo Russell but worse because it’s about the team itself.
YOU WILL NOT DISRESPECT LSU 'S COACH KIM MULKY
