    You missed the Ancient Ram Inn also in Gloucestershire. It's been around since about 1145 and is often toted as the most haunted building in England.

    • @elysium1977
      @elysium1977 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree, the ancient ram Inn should have been in the top 3 easily . It's not just haunted..its been said many times that there has been demonic goings on at that location ....the topic wax poorly researched before the video was made ... Highgate Cemetery is Evil? Yeah its haunted buts its one of the most beautiful cemeteries on the planet

      This is a bit wrong. Many cite it being built in 1145, but those sources are all talking about it on websites or posts about haunted stuff. However, it has been established that the Ancient Ram Inn's current structure dates as far back as 1495-1496, which makes a lot of the creepy stories surrounding it either totally made up or could have been associated with the building that preceded the Inn.

      It's not in Gloucestershire.
      It's in Glouchester.

    Poorly researched. Just because a place is haunted, it doesn't mean it's "Evil" . Highgate Cemetery may be haunted, and it does have many supernatural legends, but it is actually one of the most beautiful and stunning cemeteries in England and has a very calming vibe about it ... but certainly not evil at all . MOST of the locations mentioned here are in no way Evil and wouldn't even make the top 20 haunted locations, let alone the top ten ,.. I mean no "Pendle Hill" ? No "30 East Gate drive Pontefract " ? ..No "Ancient Rams Inn, Wooton Under Edge" ? Those 3 would be in the top 5 for a start

    • @Aelvir114
      @Aelvir114 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      “Poorly researched”, huh? Yet you mention the Ancient Ram Inn. The pot calling the kettle black, I suppose. The Ancient Ram Inn is most likely either not haunted or nowhere near as haunted as people lead you to believe. They often quote 1145 as the year the building was constructed, when it was actually circa 1495-1496, which makes most of the stories that make it “haunted” either made-up or instead associated with the building that existed there before the Inn's construction.
      I agree a lot of ones here shouldn’t be constituted as ‘evil’ and a lot of the most haunted buildings in the UK aren’t in this video. Imagine talking about haunted buildings in England and not mentioning Borley Rectory (may have been demolished but still counts since the title is “Terrifying *Places* In Britain”).

    I grew up in a 300 year old pub in east London. There was scratches down the wall where the cellar man fell down the steps breaking his neck at the bottom. A woman applied for a job working as a waitress on the underground restaurant. She was there for 30 minutes before running up the stairs and away. In the corner booth all the knives, forks and spoons had been bent up and around eachother making patterns on the table.
    One night prepping the dinners on her own in the downstairs kitchen my grandmother heard a crash as a chair was thrown across the room. That chair was in that kitchen in the corner smashed up for years.

    Another place that could've been added to this list which has a very gruesome history is called *The Ostrich Inn* in Colnbrook. The legend is that an evil 17th century landlord and his wife had a horrific way of disposing of guests that spent the night at the inn. The bed that the guest was sleeping in was above the kitchen and when a lever was pulled, it would dump the guest into a vat of boiling liquid usually Ale. Many guests perished that way.
    In the end they got caught, one of their victims called Thomas Cole was killed in that manner and his body was later found in a nearby brook, some say that this is how the town got it's name "Cole-in-the-brook", now known as Colnbrook.

    5:54 To be more specific, it is the inspiration of the original 1897 novel by Bram Stoker. Pretty much almost every film does not base their locations off of Whitby at all, usually opting for Slovakia's Csejte Castle (infamous for belonging to Elizabeth Báthory) and Orava Castle. Weirdly, despite Hollywood being obsessed with making Vlad Țepeș connections for Dracula movies, you’d think they would have filmed at least *one* at Poenari Castle or even Castle Bran.
    Anyway, that specification aside, people don’t just say it, it’s pretty much confirmed at this point. Cinemassacre made a comparison video about how faithful each movie is to Bram Stoker's original 1897 novel, and said this about it: “The book takes place on a cemetery on a cliff, overlooking the sea. Bram Stoker based this on an *actual* location in Whitby. And the geography he describes is spot-on; mentioning a nearby church and abbey, a fishing port and stone steps leading up the cliff. It all exists in real life and the first BBC version gets a big point for filming it at the actual location.” He even shows a Bird's Eye view of the Abbey (at 22:13) and shows all the landmarks Bram Stoker describes about the location in the novel and is pretty concrete it’s literally Whitby Abbey.
