    Watched your video, because I was curious about your perspective. Dry camping vs FHU skews your preference. We tried HH and never used it. PA is a good program. First year, we traveled from West to East, using their parks. We have a lifetime membership. Thousand Trails does not work for us. We travel without reservations whenever we can and KOA always has a site for us. Good Sam park reviews are reliable and we find them to be a good option. What you left out is the Senior's National Park pass that also gives you a half price discount at COE parks.

    • @RVAmerica
      @RVAmerica ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are actually not old enough for the senior part pass yes. So therefore we have no perspective on it. We have friends who use it and love it. Do you use that more than the other memberships? Danny will qualify next april and we can't wait to start trying it out. Thanks for watching. Great comment.

    I have had Harvest Hosts for now going on 2 years. We just got Boondockers Welcome this year. The "ask" for the night stay for Harvest Hosts is only $20 spent at the vendor/farm that is hosting you. You can be very frugal and keep to the 20. We specifically look for food options, so we can enjoy ourselves and just walk back to our camper and crash. If you eat out a lot, this does work out financially. If you don't, $20 is still a phenomenally cheap night to stay.

    • @RVAmerica
      @RVAmerica 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We totally agree! I have always wanted to stay at a farm. Nothing better than fresh fruits and vegetables. We are doing that next week. We also consider the weather conditions before we book our harvest host. We can deal with the cold ok, but we have pets and have to protect them from extreme heat. 20 a night is not bad at all for a safe place to stay. Like you said, you have to eat anyways. You are going to love Boondockers Welcome. Have you had a chance to use them yet? Have a great day!

      @@RVAmerica People are wonderful all over the world ♥️ years ago, I traveled out of country to Europe, I had a few cards to help with translation, I could not read or speak (DUTCH) their language, and was hesitant when a gentleman (TRULY 100%) approached and in broken English asked if I needed help, I nervously fumbled with my cards and with a smile nodded, however I’m sure a look of “Please” I hope he’s sincere was on my face, I was a bit nervous and then I saw a lady and child in his car, so yes, I accepted a ride from total strangers in The Netherlands, one of the best decisions I believe I ever made, they drove me about 30 minutes out of route to my destination ♥️ because they were concerned for me (a foreign stranger) such respect, love, concern, and just plain old fashioned caring for another person, still has me in awe to this day, 20+ years later, there are so many loving people in this world I wish we would all remember to give them thanks and show our appreciation for what they contribute into the lives of others. I’ve found in my rv travels people are so ready and willing to help it’s amazing, almost magical (I don’t believe in magic) in the sense that, someone just shows up offering to help, not asking for anything, just offering to help someone in need, the world of rv/nomadic life is so full of wonderful people, I hope the word continues to spread until we’re all aware and offering help to others … let’s keep the love, kindness, generosity, and all that is good going while we can ♥️ stay happy & God bless.

    Thanks for the video, was very informative. We stayed one time, summer 2021, at a Thousand Trails (NC) campground. Of 20 yrs of camping, including dry/boondocking it was the worst experience we have ever had. Very poorly maintained campground, the sewer conncetion was a dirt hole in the ground and we couldn't even find it, someone from the office had to come and .show us where it was we then had to remove the rock that had been placed over the hole. Maybe based on one stay was not enough to make a judgement but it really put us off. We did not renew.

    Well done. I dropped Harvest Host because after the yearly fee and buying things at the host it was costing way more than just staying at an RV Park. Good Sam and Passport America have deals so you can have a membership as low as $25 a year so they work well. We are dropping Thousand Trails which is good if you are close to their parks but we hardly are. We have kept boondockers welcome because you meet some cool people and they are all over the place. Thanks for a great video.

    I'm about to retire, and my wife and I plan to be part-timers. We have a bumper-pull toy hauler and plan to venture out into the US with our Harley. We're excited about our adventures to come. One question about the boon-docking places. What are the 'rules' or etiquette codes about using generators (especially the quieter inverter generators) at boondocking sites that don't offer power?

Sometimes, they will list quite hours. But usually, they don't care. Great question. Feel free to message us if you have any more. Safe travels. 😊

    That was so well explained. I would love to meet ppl. but my hubby is an introvert. He has a heart of gold but especially after covid, his trust in the world has bottomed out. I am very interested in TT basic camping pass. I like Maine and Florida, and all Americans. We are Canadian, so i question if i can buy a TT campers pass for Maine and Florida. I did the math, if I stayed 7 nights in moody beach Maine TT, everything after is gravy. We are both retired, early, hubby has MD. so we want to travel for as long as he can.

We are headed back that way next summer. Hope to go on up into Canada. I'm sorry about your husband's MD. We will keep him in our prayers. I would travel as long as I could if I were you too. I have one question for clarity. We were told by 1k Trails that they did away with the 4 night park to park rule. In your video you state that you do it. Is it true that the 4 night stay and then to another park still in affect?
    Thanks so much and safe travels!

    • @RVAmerica

      Hi Rick, we just double-checked, The rule is the same as we have known it. For the camping zone, if you're in a 1000 trails park for 4 days or less you can go to another 1000 trails park right away. Now if it's an encore (trails collection) add-on park, if you are in a park for a day you have to stay out of all parks for 7 days. Now they are some higher-level memberships that can allow you to go park to park even with the Encore /collection. Codie with TT said he would be glad to help you with any questions. Just go to the link in the video description.

    We dropped Passport America because we got tired of the rules and also being given the worst sites sometimes in a park. Granted it might be only for a night but we still want to enjoy the stay.

    • @RVAmerica

      They do have a lot of rules. We agree it gets frustrating. They are usually older parks to and that doesn't help. But, we have stayed in a few decent ones. We figure the price is so cheap if we stay 2 times a year we have our money's worth. Great comment. Thanks for watching.

    Great information. I am retiring in a few months, and we plan to take off in our 5th Wheel for a year or so. We have joined Harvest Host and Boondockers Welcome, but I thought you could only stay at those locations for 1 night. You said something about staying 5 nights, or did I misunderstand? We are looking in to Thousand Trails with the Trails Collection but are so on the fence about doing the yearly or purchasing a resale membership. It was good to see that you can save a lot on other options.

    Btw… I am learning the ukulele now so I can play on the road when we do decide to full time RV

    • @RVAmerica
      @RVAmerica 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think we have had any major complaints about availability with 1000 trails. That being said, when we stayed for 2 weeks, the way we like to do, we are then locked out for a week.. This is based on the fact that we just have a yearly membership. Camping zone.. It works for us. They aren't everywhere, so we feel this way we are getting our money's worth . We use other programs, such as boondocker's welcome to fill in the gaps. When we stayed in Daytona this past winter, 2 of the parks were full, so we just went to the 3rd one.. That has happened in a few places. Maybe we didn't get our 1st choice, but we did get in. If you have any questions about it, call Codie in the link in the video. He is really great and we didn't even buy a package.
      Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. Hopefully we will have a chance to visit somewhere. It is awesome that you are learning to play the ukulele. We can't play anything. Have a great rest of your week!

And maybe I missed it, but you spent $2948 for 162 nights, but how much did you spend on memberships?

    I think there should be a disclaimer about a Good Sam membership saving you 10% at Camping World. Yes you save 10% off their regular price but the prices are so inflated to begin with, you aren't saving anything. Dozens of times I have bought the exact same product from Amazon for a lot less even after the discount Good Sam provides. Same with Gas or Diesel. Pilot/Flying J locations are always more expensive than Loves, TA/Petrol. Personally I have a Diesel truck that pulls my 5th Wheel. I have a TSD Logistics membership. It was free to get and it blows any other discount fuel card out of the water but it's Diesel only right now. Since I got that card, I haven't even considered stopping at a Pilot/Flying J location.

    • @RVAmerica
      @RVAmerica ปีที่แล้ว
