Deze was helemaal niew voor mij. Een vroege en toen al zo geniaal. Dankjewel Brigitte!
For the English viewers (practicing Dutch or just passing by) "Okay, so I was planning on doing something totally different, because I happen to be a cabaretière, as maybe you already guessed, yes. What's up, that's how it is, isn't it? Well anyway, I don't indeed have a lot of cabaretsongs about the suffering in the world and protestsongs and such, true cabaretsongs, I'd call those. But I don't really like protesting that much and so now I've found a solution, I've written one song, with everything in it. So that we're instantly done and don't have to worry about that anymore, the rest of the night. You'll have had it behind you, me too, so yeah that's eh- It starts with a kind of sorrowful and melancholical introduction, so that the atmosphere turns you a bit saddened... And then I'll sing about all the suffering in the world that exists and I'll mention what it's about as well, so none of you get confused. It's all so much less It's all over in a second It is no longer here and not over there I think we're practically dead I'm staring into the dim light Lanternlight lights up the floor My hand slides slowly through my hair Doom is looming I'm sick and you're dying Because of mercury poisoning or lead Yes we are in great need And the blood turns everything red I'm sick and you're dying Down in the street lays a lady A truck just hit her (traffic accidents) Who can see her from behind his windows? Who dares to go out (loneliness of the old folk) Oh fellow humans, we are lost The poison vapors up from the ground (Lekkerkerk and the like) We can no longer hear each other (noise pollution) The decibel silences us I'm sick and you're dying Because of mercury poisoning or lead Yes we are in great need And the blood turns everything red I'm sick and you're dying The playground, the flowers, the bees The whistling, we've forgotten it (it's all getting less) The children are, after making love Immediately aborted (all the abortionproblems) It's leaking in the nuclear power plant It penetrates my backyard (radioactive radiation) Slowly I'm starting to bald (Cancer) I'm also missing an ear on one side (Van Gogh) I'm sick and you're dying Because of mercury poisoning or lead Yes we are in great need And the blood turns everything red I'm sick and you're dying My brother finally had to go live of his own Out of poverty, he chose to stay in a squad (housing shortage) By battering rams, teargas and hammers Has he become an invalid (hardening of a police action) Bananas and apples and pears They no longer grow on a tree (environmental pollution) The meat is no longer digestible (bio-industry) With all that sulfite and hormones I have canc- uhh.. I'm sick and you're dying Because of mercury poisoning or lead Yes we are in great need And the blood turns everything red I'm sick and you're dying America, Russia they insist That that bomb wants to come out now (nuclear equilibrium) Why am I still standing here, singing Why do I still put myself out there (general pessimism) Farewell in advance, it won't take long Come, just accept your faith now (doom thinking) Be loving in those lost few hours Maybe then it won't hurt as much I'm sick and you're dying Because of mercury poisoning or lead Yes we are in great need And the blood turns everything red I'm sick and you're dying (Feel free if you see examples that I could've translated better. )
echt he
"Ik ben ziek en jij gaat dood
Aan kwikvergiftiging of lood
En Corona is te groot
En de wereld is verkloot
Ik ben ziek en jij gaat dood."
Zoiets?
Je haalt de woorden uit mijn mond
Ik word altijd blij van haar. Zelfs bij verdrietige liedjes ❤

It's all so much less
It's all over in a second
It is no longer here and not over there
I think we're practically dead
I'm staring into the dim light
Lanternlight lights up the floor
My hand slides slowly through my hair
Doom is looming
I'm sick and you're dying
Because of mercury poisoning or lead
Yes we are in great need
And the blood turns everything red
I'm sick and you're dying
Down in the street lays a lady
A truck just hit her (traffic accidents)
Who can see her from behind his windows?
Who dares to go out (loneliness of the old folk)
Oh fellow humans, we are lost
The poison vapors up from the ground (Lekkerkerk and the like)
We can no longer hear each other (noise pollution)
The decibel silences us
I'm sick and you're dying
Because of mercury poisoning or lead
Yes we are in great need
And the blood turns everything red
I'm sick and you're dying
The playground, the flowers, the bees
The whistling, we've forgotten it (it's all getting less)
The children are, after making love
Immediately aborted (all the abortionproblems)
It's leaking in the nuclear power plant
It penetrates my backyard (radioactive radiation)
Slowly I'm starting to bald (Cancer)
I'm also missing an ear on one side (Van Gogh)
I'm sick and you're dying
Because of mercury poisoning or lead
Yes we are in great need
And the blood turns everything red
I'm sick and you're dying
My brother finally had to go live of his own
Out of poverty, he chose to stay in a squad (housing shortage)
By battering rams, teargas and hammers
Has he become an invalid (hardening of a police action)
Bananas and apples and pears
They no longer grow on a tree (environmental pollution)
The meat is no longer digestible (bio-industry)
With all that sulfite and hormones
I have canc- uhh.. I'm sick and you're dying
Because of mercury poisoning or lead
Yes we are in great need
And the blood turns everything red
I'm sick and you're dying
America, Russia they insist
That that bomb wants to come out now (nuclear equilibrium)
Why am I still standing here, singing
Why do I still put myself out there (general pessimism)
Farewell in advance, it won't take long
Come, just accept your faith now (doom thinking)
Be loving in those lost few hours
Maybe then it won't hurt as much
I'm sick and you're dying
Because of mercury poisoning or lead
Yes we are in great need
And the blood turns everything red
I'm sick and you're dying
