Just so you know, you do not need to ignore Asher for that long! A dog won’t make the connection as to why they’re being ignored, however he might feel insecure and it might make his separation anxiety worse. Also cowering doesn’t necessarily mean he understands he did something wrong, it’s just a natural response to being told off. Positive reinforcement is key for dogs! And he’s still a baby so he’ll still get distracted playing and forget he needs to wee sometimes…human toddlers have accidents too! I hope you don’t mind advice, Ive worked with dogs for years and can’t help myself 😅 I already think you’re doing a fantastic job with him 😊
You may want to consider getting Asher a seat belt . I know he doesn't wear a harness. You snap his seat belt to his harness in case you have a sudden stop.
@@milak1691 Yes, it is very dangerous! You do not want anything flying around the inside of your car during an accident, that object could easly break your neck!!
The main time when ignoring a dog works is if they’re doing the thing in the moment such as jumping on you. You’d want to be silent and not acknowledge them until they show the desired behavior and THEN give them attention
It's silly to ignore him for so long, after a few seconds he forgets that he was chewing a book. He doesn't know why you ignore him, this way you make him insecure.
I was gonna say I don’t think that’s typically a helpful puppy training technique. I doubt a puppy is gonna put two and two together and know that he’s getting the silent treatment because he chewed a book and peed on a rug
I agree with this full heartedly. Books are good but the classes would be much better for you and Zach and Asher! Asher would also learn how to interact with other people and dogs!!!
I'm sorry,😂 I could not stop laughing at the book - then when you said you left it in his bed!!!!🤣🤣🤣He really didn't do anything wrong! Good boy for not damaging anything else while he entertained himself with the treat you left in his bed!!!!
Puppies can only hold it for 1 hour per month, overnight is different if they sleep the whole time. Timing the hours before the last time he went out might help with accidents! That's what we did with our dog and he didn't have an accident outside of 2 months old when I still getting into a routine with him
Positive reinforcement for the puppy. Catch him chewing on something he’s not supposed to, take it away and give him something he can. Please no punishing with your hands, not even a tap, especially in the face, head. I have Shepherds and Malinois and they are smart enough to not need that.
@@julia.md2b707 yes that would help. I skip through every single sponsorship on any video I watch on TH-cam because I am so tired of them. I come to TH-cam to escape and the constant ads being thrown at us are not relaxing. We do not need more "stuff".
I've been watching you for many years but lately it seems like you need to approach life with more patience, compassion, and lower expectations. He's just a puppy and he IS perfect. Negative reinforcement is not the way to raise any living being. You shouldn't be yelling or hitting. His bladder is tiny and he can't help himself. Puppies are expected to have accidents for many months. Imagine if your mom yelled at you every time you wet yourself as a baby and child? It's cruel. The book chewing was also your fault, so you shouldn't be punsihing him for that. This is very difficult to watch as a dog lover. I dont mean it to be critical - I'm just trying to help you out and I wish you the best.
I love vlogs where you are so positive, I understand we all have stuff, but sometimes all of your events seem like it's the end of the world....RELAX sometimes🤣 it makes my anxiety so high sometimes...
Neil and your dad are the best part of every vlog they are in 😂 Raising a puppy is hard work! I love dogs and I can't wait to get one when I have the time and space, but cats are just much easier to deal with plus I think they are much better for my anxiety lol
I'm sure your Dad has his long time friends and routines that he doesn't want to lose if he were to move to Cincinatti. Is he the type to make new friends? Will he want to hang out with you guys 24/7? Just looking out for your Dad!😂😂
Have you tried using treats to get Asher to go into his crate? I took my puppy to puppy classes at PetSmart and one of the commands we were taught was “spot”. In our case, “spot” is any dog bed in the room, that includes the bed in his crate. Two years later, when I leave the house and grab a treat and walk into the room with the crate, he rushes to the crate, runs inside when I open the door, so he can have his treat. “Spot” is super useful anytime you may want to step outside and you don’t want him rushing to the door, or even if you want him to stay away from the door when others come in the house. Have you considered training courses? It’s a great bonding moment for you and the dog, it increases socialization with other animals and people, and you would have someone to help you specialize commands for your needs. Asher is a beautiful boy and he is going to be an amazing companion for years to come!
For potty training, lots of methods! One idea is to keep him leashed with you while in the house. It helps mitigate accidents in the house because they can’t leave your sight. And then sticking to a potty schedule while they are super young and still learning. It feels like such a long process, but you’ll get there :)
dogs do not think the way that we do, if you tap him on the head, hes not going to understand, and eventually he is going to be afraid of your hands. Positive reinforcement is the only way to train an animal so please refrain from any kind of physical consequence, no matter how small
Arthur is too cute! But what I keep thinking about is your parents moving to Cincinnati and then Asher, Timmy AND Walter will be in VLOGS! Ahhh! Cuteness overload. They're all so precious! 🧡
Love your videos watch all of them but honestly kinda overwhelmed with all the sponsors every video. I’m happy your getting them but just feeling a little bit like that’s all your videos are now’s
This is an odd comment to me haha because the sponsored content is usually just a 2-3 minute portion of a 22-30 minute video. Less ads than when you watch TV haha how else do you expect TH-camrs to make moneyyy
Boxers are a little bitey. When he is the right age you can give him puppy classes! They help socialize and train. Also the fashion haul was really fun 😊

My brother is exactly like your brother and dad when I ask a question he shrugs, says he hasn't thought about it, won't give a direct answer....men lol. I do hope they move to Cincy one day as I think being around you and your brother and having a change of scenery can be a good thing.
Don’t yell at Asher, all he knows is you’re upset at him for whatever reason and don’t ignore him he’ll think you don’t love him or it’ll confuse him. As soon as he potties by accident be stern and say no then take him outside to show him what to do. My family had a female boxer for about 7 years before my older brother took her as his and those were methods we used with her. I had been given a magazine all about training boxers and it was super helpful. Also going to check out the tea for my IBS.
First I want to say, you’re doing a great job! Ignoring them is the best strategy. Nobody should ever hit a dog for any reason! All that does is make them fear you and not trust you. I wouldn’t even tap him. The book was your fault, I’m sure he thought it was a toy. Dogs will start to tear things up and chew when they are bored. Being in a different environment with other animals is stimulating and exciting so the accident isn’t surprising for such a young puppy. I haven’t read any comments so if this is a repeat theme going on I’m sorry to keep going! My puppy made me bleed twice from biting but she didn’t mean to. I never yell at her bc dogs can get their emotions hurt easily and become afraid. But anyway keep up the good work. Puppies are hard!!! But it’s worth it. ❤
Give yourself some grace! I need to learn to do the same thing if I’m being honest. It seems like the best dogs always find you. I have had dogs my entire life. My mom bred Great Danes when I was born and the only other animals that have been purchased are her three Maltese and my first miniature dachshund an ex bought me. My sister currently has a Boxer/Foxhound that she found by the Interstate and no one claimed him 11 years ago! He’s such a good boy, but will whine if my sister leaves the room. My niece’s PTSD service dog is a mixed breed rescue. Discipline is hard with a rescue. I have another dachshund who was brought into our vet’s by animal control completely bald and they didn’t think he would survive. My GSD/Irish Wolfhound fell in love, so we adopted him when he was better. I have never had an easier time with a puppy (although he was around 8 months). He learned everything from his brother. He only had one accident. I still should have crate-trained him because I was raised that this is a puppy’s “room”. They feel safe and sometimes just want to go take a nap there. I should have at least set our bigger dog’s crate back up. That was 7 years ago and he has to go to his MiMi’s because of separation anxiety. Asher can tell by the tone of your voice that he has maybe not made a good choice. Kids still have accidents after they are potty-trained. You are both still learning, so please don’t be hard on yourself. Asher is living an ideal dog life that all dogs deserve! Have you looked into Barkbox and maybe working with them? My dog cuddles with toys and doesn’t really play with them, but my niece’s dog does. You will love them, too! My dog does get the food and the Brightbox toothbrushes! I’m SO sorry this is so long! Just wanted to encourage you!
Aww thank you so much for this sweet comment!!! I appreciate the encouragement 💞 I would definitely do bark box in the future - Asher would love that!!
Your dad must be feeling conviction from bringing that sign up again….. really praying as you get closer to God you can be a light to your family Clancy! ❤️❤️ praying for y’all 😍❤️
I’m laughing hysterically watching this video for two reasons … one you sound exactly like I did with my now 8 year old German Shepherd, and if he’s part German Shepherd good luck with the separation anxiety for a few years … mine no longer has to be crated, he still has it as his safe space though, nor does he destroys anything, but still follows me around everywhere 😂 even tries to still get in the shower with me 😂 you will have a lot of recommendations from a lot of people, but shepherds truly are a different breed, so maybe look into some of the shepherd forums vs just normal puppy forums, it was definitely a learning curve for me … secondly the way you were talking about the library book, I now have two foster boys both toddlers, they did that to a book as well, and I’m pretty sure I sounded and reacted the same way as you 😂 it was my fault I left the book where you could get it, so of course you thought it was yours and you could tear the pages out of it, yep it was definitely an expensive lesson learned
I hope you get your wish to have your parents move closer. For me, I like the idea of having parents remaining in your childhood home (this wasn’t my experience). I romanticize always being able to go back to that familiar place where nothing really changes…. sort of like a Lifetime movie.
17:55 Asher probably peed on the carpet, marking his territory. Male dogs tend to do that, more so than female. The boys want everyone (other animals) to know, "hey, I've been here, it's my place now". 😂😂😂
Having Crohn’s disease, I’m always open to trying new drinks/foods that could potentially help/improve my gut health. Although living in Canada we don’t have a whole foods, so next time I’m in the states will definitely be on the hunt for that drink! ❤️

I hope your dad moves to Cincinati. LOL, he chewed your library book. Once I was married. My library book I couldn't find. When I moved out from the divorce I found it at the bottom of my trunk thing.
Clancy, maybe you could start a portfolio (paper or electronic) of the work that your Dad has done in your home as well as Neil’s. Your Dad could expand on that and add photos of work he has done in New York. This could help with his job search and ease his mind about moving to Cincinnati.
Asher knew he was guilty ! I love that look puppies have when they just know they did something wrong, yet they know they are so cute that they can get away with it ! 😂🤣...thanks for the iced tea tip, gotta try that !
OMG, two vlogs in a row your dad is talking about the "Hell is real" sign. 😂 I feel the need to apologize on behalf of the state of Ohio, even though I've had zero to do with that sign. I hope your dad can get past that and will want to move here, lol.
Clancy I clicked so fast and you always makes such a wonderful and beautiful vlogs for us you are my inspiration and I wish you have a wonderful wonderful weekend🥹🥹💗💗💗
It’s normal for puppies to regress in their toilet training and suddenly they get it again. They probably just want to throw us off 😂 I certainly get annoyed too when my dogs are naughty. I tried the ignoring thing too but then thought ‘do they actually understand what I’m doing and what that is related to’. It’s a hard one :) Good luck, Asher will be the best dog!

Girllllll my cat does that to my books…as I’m staring right at her 😂🤣🤣 she’s my baby 😌♥️
Clancy, maybe you could start a portfolio (paper or electronic) of the work that your Dad has done in your home as well as Neil’s. Your Dad could expand on that and add photos of work he has done in New York. This could help with his job search and ease his mind about moving to Cincinnati.
That’s a great idea!!!
Every one of the LuLu clothes looks like they were made for you.
Aww thank you! 💞💞
How does the puppy look like Zach?😅
Marlboro Red 100's, that is something right there...
Asher knew he was guilty ! I love that look puppies have when they just know they did something wrong, yet they know they are so cute that they can get away with it ! 😂🤣...thanks for the iced tea tip, gotta try that !
Hahaha it makes it so hard to discipline him 😂
OMG, two vlogs in a row your dad is talking about the "Hell is real" sign. 😂 I feel the need to apologize on behalf of the state of Ohio, even though I've had zero to do with that sign. I hope your dad can get past that and will want to move here, lol.
Those puppy scratches burn 🔥
I love ❤️ ❤love Pure Leaf Ice Tea I’ll stick with that
That white dress is so flattering Clancy! Love ❤️
Clancy I clicked so fast and you always makes such a wonderful and beautiful vlogs for us you are my inspiration and I wish you have a wonderful wonderful weekend🥹🥹💗💗💗
Thank you!!💞💞
It’s normal for puppies to regress in their toilet training and suddenly they get it again. They probably just want to throw us off 😂
I certainly get annoyed too when my dogs are naughty. I tried the ignoring thing too but then thought ‘do they actually understand what I’m doing and what that is related to’. It’s a hard one :) Good luck, Asher will be the best dog!
Thank you!🩷🩷
