Thank you for addressing my question in detail. Very interesting to see how ikigai assisted you in deciding on a PhD topic. Taking the PhD example and considering ikigai elements, Love(helping marathon runners), skill ( building recommender system), need (improving runners performance), earn (monetized app or smart watch). In your job, if the same skill of designing recommender system is used, let’s say for an eCommerce business, making recommendation to millions of customers, the love element vanishes away and mostly its impact at work would overshadow any personal compensation made outside the workday. Would like to know your perspective on this.
Yes I very much think this is true. I think there are lots of projects in recommender systems I would not like to work on - for example making recommendations that satisfy big companies, and don't directly benefit the consumers. For this, I would be far removed from the purpose and not enjoying my work.

Hey Paula! So So sorry for the delay! Thanks so much for your comment. I don't have an advanced membership and for the moment I am unable to facilitate the co-work sessions while I am doing my internship on the corporate laptops etc.! These will be starting up again in Autumn term when things are back to normal!
