thanks for the concern and the health tips. this footage is from about 10 days ago and after focusing on good sleep, exercise, and better eating, im feeling 100% 👍.. those antibiotics were pretty unnecessary .. 😅😅
It was expensive because you were in zona rosa area where a lot of expats/tourists stay in. Also Zona Rosa area is the nicest and the most expensive area of Bogota. I stayed near Zona Rosa in Chapinero on Calle 56 a few months ago (for about a week). On Calle 56, when I went to the average looking restaurant (you know how average looking restaurants look like in Colombia yes?), it cost me only about 4500 COP for a bowl of kaldo de cosilla (that included a roll of bread) + a nice hot cup of coffee. At another restaurant nearby, it cost about 6000 COP for a plate of colombian style steak with fries (which I forgot the name) + a glass of Colombiana soda. But At Andino malls' food courts, I went to Senor Wok to have some asian food and it cost me about 32,000 COP for a plate of fried rice + a bottle of soda (And the fried rice in Colombia was different to the fried rice in USA etc: not that nice). At Bogota El Dorado Airport, food prices, medicine, etc were also expensive. For example a 6 inch long subways roll at El Dorado airport cost me about 18,000 COP (could be slightly more and less depends on what type of filling people buy); I know all airports have universal prices but just saying.
Marshall, a very informative video on taxis. I know of other youtubers who use uber to get around Bogota. Hope you're getter better health wise. Be good, be safe, be careful
If you wanna buy that camera you should try go to a place called "San andresito de la 38 " here in Bogota, there all those kind of technology are cheaper, you can even negotiate the price with the trader. Also, you can find a lot of different stuff there.
Hi Marshall! Glad to see that you got antibiotics and throat lozenges to help with your not feeling well. When doing antibiotics try to get fermented food into your system to replace the flora that is killed off by the antibiotics. Sauerkraut and pickles are a good source of foods with good flora. Get well and understand if you don't upload videos everyday. Nice place you got but the last one is off the charts! Nice. Peace!
Hey Marshall, try Uber it works amazing. I just came from Cali I tried taxi service at the beginning but did not worked well, because it was too expensive, then I tried Uber and wow! 50 percent less than a regular taxi. good luck !
You have hundreds of options when it comes to having a camera shipped from the U.S. into Colombia. Dozens of freight forwarders/shippers located in Miami, FL. Simply order your camera and have it shipped to one of them and they in turn will ship it to you in Bogota. Fees should be in the $30 to $35 USD range. No IVA or import taxes to be paid when it reaches Colombia if the package is less than a kilo. Try a search for Jacol Cargo in Miami. He's been my go to guy for over 10 years.
Marshall... . I guess the change in weather from warm to cool in Bogota must of gotten you under the weather... I hope you make it to Monserrate while in Bogota of course and check out the famous salt mine of Zipaquira... You are in a perfect location in the developing area of Chapinero between downtown government, colonial and business area and the ritz "Norte" pubs, parks, foodie, clubs and parks area which is so hip.... Also you may consider surrounding areas like the beautiful flower plantations in the colorful "Savanna de Bogota" and its pretty towns, Colombia being the number 1 exporter of flowers to the States and 2nd to Holland globally. Maybe one night with a group of friends you got to try to make it to "Andres Carne de Res" the world famous "party-eatry" with typical Colombian flare.. How about a day trip to Villa de Leyva, Boyaca the incredible Colonial architecture and once former Capital of Colombia at its commencement of its Republic.. Kind of like what "Philly" used to be before the idea of building Washington D.C... Anyways.. Food for thought... And continue listening to local Colombians that want to make sure you don't get ripped off and stay safe like that Airbnb guy about the taxis etc....
It is the government's fault, not looking a reforming the costs of utilities like electricity. The privatisation model means that you can make a profit.Things like bananas are so expensive even though they are grown locally because they are subsidising the prices for overseas consumers. It is not the growers fault but the exporters fault. The exporters says the added cost in exporting justifies it by having the same price as they get overseas. This is the problem with lamb in NZ, we are subsidising the overseas consumer in the UK through the same logic.
Hey man, I fly to Bogota September 12 of this year. Im going to be starting a vlog series as well. Just landed upon your channel and its great stuff. Keep up the good work
Marshall, sorry to hear you are still sick. Stay off all sugar, dairy please. Also, gargle with warm salt water and or baking soda (bicarbonato), drink a lot of water and take a lot of vitamin c. You will get better much quicker. Great Vlog!
I see that your subscriber numbers are going up! You make good videos and as I said previously little by little your channel will grow and so will your income! Again Peace! Be safe!
you have to eat at local restaurants that the workers eat at, its like 7000/9000 pesos for appetizer and main meal with a fruit drink, and i use to get those in el norte
Marshall I know it's hard recording with that potato 🥔 iPhone, it does the job and the reason electronics are so expensive in South America is the TARIF taxes it just is. Keep blogging and dude Elizabeth???????
I never had a problem with a Medellin taxi, but some of those Bogota taxis are really bad. Especially if you use them in a bad area like Santa Fe. The really bad taxi drivers set you up. They message their friends and they purposefully get their taxi robbed by their friends. Meaning the bad guy robs the taxi driver and you of your belongings. You or the taxi can call the cops but the taxi just claims he was robbed like you. But later he gets his stuff back along with some of your stuff. In the Santa Fe area I was told to not use the taxis that just sits around waiting and waiting. Find you a taxi that is moving and stop him. Also Uber in Bogota works pretty good.
Hey Marshall, you need to get some probiotics! Those antibiotics are a carpet bomb and kill everything in your stomach. Preferably, get some shelf stable probiotics so you don't have to refrigerate. These are especially key if your diet is changing up so much in a new country. Get better soon, the vlogs are great!
Bro, they charge way more for electronics, shoes, jackets, etc in Colombia or any country for that matter. They charging you for the import tax, plus they also know that the Colombians or tourists that need these things have no other choice but to buy it there. Here in the states we have millions of different options to buy shit like that.
Go to the Centro Comercial Unilago. There you can find 2 shopping centers together with a ton of camera stores. And btw, what's the news with Bogota being expensive? It'd well known it's expensive there. And yep, with the taxi drivers it's the same, well known throughout the country that the do shit like that.
Yes man!! I think is a pretty good and cool video, I hope u didn't waste your money. And I'm very glad you share the views and experiences aroun my country.
Consumer electronics are very expensive in all South America. I think you are focusing too much on chapinero, maybe you should explore further north, there are lots of things to do and see in Bogota, just get a friend and hang around.
I see you can get that cannon g7x used, in like new condition on Amazon for $450.00. Can you have someone here in the USA buy it for you on Amazon and then send it to you in Colombia?? Just a suggestion. Great video !! Thanks!!
Yes, people in Bogotá are paler/lighter skinned that in other regions of the country, and I've also always suspected this is due to Bogota's colder weather and less sunny days. Good idea to get rid of those antibiotics, not proven to be effective against a severe cold. Sorry, I haven't visited Bogotá and for some reason, after watching your videos, I am not inclined to; the excessive traffic and street noise would be unbearable to me and, just a crazy thought, could be the cause of your underlying stress/colds. Good luck, keep your body hydrated and your eyes peeled! God bless!
yea, that was the other part of this conversation. he recommended i use uber here rather than taxis and was explaining why. i use uber at nights, and the bus during the day
Thai is terrible about the taxis! The only way to go is with someone that knows the city then! Esta preocupante psra el turista el issue acerca d los taxis! Solo con alguien q conozca para no ser estafado o secuestrado!
uber...enough said. Hey are you going to promote your music in Colombia? maybe that could be an option if you run out of ideas, maybe meeting local musicians; that would be awesome...peace.
Are you still in Bogota? Are you giving english classes there (if you are still there)? Do you have an email or somewhere I can contact you.. I might have friend there that I would like to pay you to give her english classes with you..
by the way anything imported ( electronics mostly) are way more expensive in Colombia. Also in terms of race, because the slave trade, Coastal places in Colombia tent to be more diverse. Chapinero is a middle rich class neighborhood so it's a little more experience
When you first feel the scratch in your throat, start overdosing on Zinc and vitamin C (take every 2 hours) and within 2-3 days you'll be back to normal. If you wait too long to start, it won't help and then you'll have to ride it out
leave out all animal and dairy products. eat whole plant foods for example potatoes rice corn etc and NO OILS. drink enough water and rest. saludos get well soon
the altitute may have been what got to you....ii know it got me for the first week in bogota but after that i was fine...beautiful city lechona was my favorite food

don't even ask for electronics in Colombia, import tax is about 30% and sales tax 19%

They charging you for the import tax, plus they also know that the Colombians or tourists that need these things have no other choice but to buy it there. yea, that makes sense

All electronics are more expensive in Colombia. Bogota expensive? I miss those prices...try New York City! AYYYYY!
hahah right you are.. it is all about perspective

Dairy isnt going to help you feel better when youre sick! You gotta start eating healthier bro.
I've never seen that agua panela/cheese combo. That's a weird one.
Lawman212 I think that's a Cundinamarca/ Boyaca thing, I use to eat that all the time when I was in Colombia
Is Uber used in Colombia?

Cartagena was a massive slave trading post, similar to Panama and in Havana.
