Great playthrough! While I was watching it, I realised that I play way too conservative and that I really need to get my hands on those exploration boards. :-)
I hope this is right for the solo game and admittedly I've just finished reading the rules. But I think you may have made an error when replacing mountain tiles. Page 11 states that when all but the last "2 silver" space are empty, remove the two silver and the entire mountain strip. You left it and I "think" that's incorrect. Happy to be wrong! It's around the 8:30 mark. Cheers and thanks for an excellent play through.
Hi Dave, there are a few hiccups in the rulebook that are corrected in the errata here boardgamegeek.com/filepage/138082/errata-and-faq-1st-english-edition you actually only remove the mountain strip when it's fully empty
Awwww sorry! I didn't know about the FAQ file. Downloaded and reading now... before the first game ಠ_ಠ Thanks so much for the reply. And again, excellent playthroughs which will really help being the rule learner/explainer person thing :) Please keep doing this - love your tastes in games and appreciate the hard work. BTW someone yesterday on Reddit described you as a mellow Rahdo (or something to that effect). I'd take it as a compliment myself, you received pretty good comments. :) cheers!
Great video! I like all the solo play throughs you've been doing! A small suggestion is maybe try to keep the camera a bit more steady? Or just move around slower so it doesn't create as much dizziness. :) also at the end of this video, if you put the cabbage horizontally and use 1 coin in the feast to take out the meat, and use that to cover up the space with 2 -1 points side by side in the house, would that earn you 1 more point? Please keep up the great videos! :)
At 21:05 you talk about the conditions for failure during your raid. Is it a roll of 5 that fails automatically? Or only if you can't modify it up past 5?
Great video Tom. But I think you added up your score incorrectly. Your total score prior to negatives came to 160 (not 150 as you recorded) so your final score was 10 points higher at 138!
Your channel is quite a hidden gem among the board gaming channels.
Your playthroughs and impression videos are very clear and helpful.
Thumbs up!
Thank you!

After bumbling my way through my first game, this video was like stumbling across the Rosetta Stone. Thank you!!!
The Dice rolling gods were with you on this day.
These dice are SO RIGGED. lol

Yep, the 150 points before negatives at 33:01 were a math error. It’s actually 160 points minus 22, so it WAS your best solo game.
Thanks so much for this! Great videos! Always easier to watch a playthrough then try and digest a rule book. Game is set up, I’ll try tomorrow!
Fantastic playthrough as usual. Thank you for making these videos.
Amazing video... This really reinforces... How badly I play this game. Can't wait to try again after having seen your strategies.
Great and helpful video! Cleared up a few things for me as a new player. Thank you 👍
Thank you, I'm glad it helped! Good luck with your viking voyages :)
@@slickerdrips played 6x this weekend thanks to your video!
Thanks for the playthrough, it was very helpful! Would you consider doing a solo one for Ora et Labora?
Great playthrough! While I was watching it, I realised that I play way too conservative and that I really need to get my hands on those exploration boards. :-)
Thank you! I did the same at the start, now I love getting that income as early as possible
Haha yeah, I said aloud, "he's taking another board?!"
Awesome, awesome, awesome. I just got this game in a math trade and it looked so intimidating but it really isn't. Well done.
Man. I have the opposite luck with dice, and chaos bag draws in Arkham Horror. They must have been magetized or something lol.
I hope this is right for the solo game and admittedly I've just finished reading the rules. But I think you may have made an error when replacing mountain tiles. I loved that post - I've been a big fan of Rahdo for a couple of years and any comparison to him is great in my eyes :)
I much prefer this to Rahdo who I find a bit too chaotic .... this is so much more M E L L O W.
Great video. However, at about 25:30, you make an illegal placement of green next to green.
Not sure if you corrected that later?
+Thomas Leitner I was afraid there'd be one somewhere! I'll add a note, I don't think I realised
Also at 8:30 when you update the mountain strips, if there is only the last money token left on the strip it is removed in this phase.
John Giblin I'm afraid that's incorrect. There is a long discuss about this on BGG.
*discussion.
Oh my mistake, I didn't realize there was errata for that already. Thanks for the clarification.
Your rolls were crazy lucky, but great score.

+Imaodehl there's a chance I might be zoomed a little, I was accidentally doing that for a short while until someone pointed it out!
Sweet playthrough, as usual
great Playthrough
Where did you learn to roll dice like that?! I'm jealous.
It's a skill I somehow gained and lost just for the duration of this playthrough it seems like :D
You, like rhado, are going to hit my wallet like a Mack truck. Excellent video!
138 is just about the upper end of scores I've seen on this game, maybe nothing above 150? How easy is it do you feel to "max out" the solo game?
At 21:05 you talk about the conditions for failure during your raid. Is it a roll of 5 that fails automatically? Or only if you can't modify it up past 5?
+Alex Nguyen if you can’t modify it because the cheapest tile is 6
Tom - have you played with the new Norwegian Expansion yet ? Seems to really make a great game awesome ?
Ric
Hi Ric! I bought it in Essen but still haven't had the chance to try it yet - hoping to fix that soon :)
Great play through! What camera do you use to film these?
Thanks Jarren :) it's a Sony CX450 handycam (or if you go right back to the early videos it's an iPhone....6 maybe)
every time you roll you got the best number on these dice! lol great video though
I’ve got a playthrough for the expansion coming soon, I’m not so lucky this time 😀
In round four, how did you build a ship when you had no wood and why did you not place three workers on the build ship action?
Did I buy it with coins? You don’t need an action to do that. Otherwise there’s a mistake in there :)
Yes you bought for 8 coins- that is possible?
Never mind i missed that part in rulebook thank you
Good job
Great video Tom. But I think you added up your score incorrectly. Your total score prior to negatives came to 160 (not 150 as you recorded) so your final score was 10 points higher at 138!
Thanks, this would have been my highest score at the time I think!
