I'm a Hung Ga practitioner and the forms looks like Hung Ga which make sense considering Jow Ga parenthood is Hung Ga, its a very good thing for me and all Hung Ga practitioner I guess cuz what a nice art created from our style :D
Thanks for watching my Hung Ga brother. Jow Ga definitely has roots in Hung Ga, but the foot work comes from Choy Ga and Northern Shaolin. We have many forms that look very similar to Hung Gar, but also many that don't. I love comparing the history and similarities/differences between the styles. Keep the culture alive!
Definitely has a lot more Choy Lay Fut than Hung Ga Hung Ga arms are rarely ever straight and fully extended. They’re usually slightly bent to prevent elbow strikes and breaks.
Also it has much more movement than Hung Ga (like Josh says) due to the footwork of Choy lee fut and Shaolin. The style's als refered to as Hung Tao Choy Mei (something like head of hung, tail of choy (lee fut)). Keep it alive Kung fu people!
If you have a skill set of the solid basics of Gung Fu you can watch this video and learn this form Jow Gar is a beautiful and very effective mixture of Northern long hand Gung Fu and southern Hung Gar for combat if you can see the application of this form you can adapt it to combat
Same! So far the only ones to help me are Bamboo Temple Forrest (southern mantis) for close range fighting. Wing chun for when on the ground and in full mount, it's a crazy ground and pound style to use. I also use Keysi but that's nearly kung fu...... nearly lol. I am an MMA fighter and have saw ways which kung fu can work in fights but only in Certain positions. Don't forget that 80% of Boxing is obsolete when you're on the ground. Do you know any random kung fu moves that you think could work in MMA?? Cheers bro, sorry about the essay 😂
@@i_GiveFRUIT This is why what you do is called "mixed" martial arts. There are tons of Chinese styles that address different aspects of fighting. MMA is a sport. Most of the old Chinese styles were not oriented to "wrestling or ground fighting" in that sense. The Chinese systems were rooted in battlefield fighting and later urban fighting. Their opponents didn't fight on the ground. Hence the lack of those techniques. Remember it's not the style but the fighter who makes the fight. I hate to say it but most of the Chinese styled fighters who entered MMA weren't as good as they thought themselves to be.
all arts prefixed with 周家, Jow Gar have good structural power !! due to Haaka culture and tradition..and of course the real need for knowing how to defending oneself and one's community.
Jow Ga, one of the rarest kung fu traditional martial arts to find. Great video!

勁道拾足、虎虎之威丶真武者。
elasticity of your bridge hand, palm strikes and overall form are very good.... many practitioners are often way too stiff
magna putei . bravo!👍
Bad ass style, I’m Hung style too! Chow ( Jow) Gar is so combative!
