This holds up aftwr 30+ years.... fyi, the song is about another man seeing to her needs that homeboy the house is not....if you ever find yourself on either side of this predicament, it resonates more. Speaking from experience. I was 13 when it came out... I didn't get it... at 23 years old, I still didn't get it. It wasn't until I went through it.

When I first heard this years ago it felt like she just kept singing the chorus over and over and over and over again lol I think that’s what she did and threw some words in here and there
I can understand why you think that. It isn't structured like a normal song, where verses may be like 16 bars, whereas the verses here, are only six bars.

As many times as I've heard this song, i never really paid attention to Alexander Oneal in the background.
For real? For the little bit he did on it, it was absolutely PERFECT! Especially when he hit that "Ooooooowee, Baby!" on the chorus.
