If you're a tank lover, and especially if you're in the IDF, you got to admire what the IDF has done with the Merkava IV. It is what you would call the tank driver's tank. Israel built this tank with the tank crew in mind, with their safety in mind. That's why they put the engine in the front, so that it protects the crew better. They realize one of the biggest costs involved with a tank was the acquisition of tank crews and keeping them in the IDF, so with that in mind, they built the tank to protect their crews.
+Richard Prokopchuk yes, they also never gave a thought about the weight because it was never meant to be deployed anywhere but in Israel so shipping it or even airlifting wasn't even considered
Reminds me of when I'd open these boxes, and I would have nabbed every version of the Merkava. I'd save the box art and sometimes put in on the wall wiht all the aircraft adds from magazines. I had the Tamiya (I think) Sheridan top on the wall alongside a full page add of the RECENT roll out of the YF-15 prototype....in high school. Yeah, I'm that old. Wish I still did this, but beyond me now. Hell, I still have some of my old tanks I built in the mid 70s stored......somewhere. I remember the Christmas of .......I think it was 73, my mom gave me the 1/35 Tamiya Chieftan, Sheridan, and Monogram M-48, if I remember correctly. I went thru the boxes just like this.......brings back memories. They improved the Chieftain kit considerably a few yrs after. Monogram made good tanks to if I remember. 'Scuze me for thinking in type. Thanx for posting these.
Lol. ... no thank you for posting this ! It is always a good thing when you make something witch makes people happy feeling
Sebastian that's a nice abs complicated kit. That sleeve that is clamped around the barrel is referred to as a thermal sleeve and it helps to dissipate heat build up in the barrel from extended firing abs also helps to reduce the vehicles thermal signature.
Hey Andy thanks for the explenation Buddy and yeah it looks complicated but fun to build
Looks like a nice kit. You will do a great job im sure.
Thanks Devon , will try todo my best on it that`s for sure
Really nice kit. Ball and chain looks a scary build.
Yeah good amount of nice detail and texture... but 80 pieces of ball and chain..... HELP
Just interested have you started to build this kit I ask because I have the Hobby Boss Mk III and found that it has no mark on the wheels for tyres I cant find out if these tanks always has rubber on the wheels. I have seen many images displaying rubber what will you do with the wheels?
No haven't started the build yet and i also don't know yet what to do with the wheels
Good review sir...
Thank you very much

Dont have any experience yet but want to build this
To be honest, without any experience it will be a struggle especially the photo edge

You do ??? That's uhm. ..... good to know
DutchModeling Yes...I make smart aleck remarks. Forgive my double reference using your model part and an AC/DC lyric...HaHa! This is what happens when a model builder's other hobby is music. Playing guitar that is. The money I make with that often pays for my model stuff...HaHa! And again, thanks for the interesting and entertaining box review. You've got a new sub! I have one humble video at Final for GB Kursk Gary Armstrong. Shows I can actually build a model. Puts my money where my mouth is so to speak.
DutchModeling BTW...and proud of it laddy...the Scotsman said!
Haha i like smart asses 😉 ! And making money with one hobby that pays for the other. .. That's a dream come true !!!
I also just finished a model in the Kursk GB but didn't had the time yet to make good pictures and make them into a vid. ...... will be continued
DutchModeling Wijsneus...but never disrespectful sir! And for the hobbies...well...only sometimes. Often I just spend too much money...Ha! Gotta love it. Pleased to make your acquaintance sir.
Not sure why there are so many BORING reviews...just build the model already...who really cares about unboxing reviews!?...if your going to do a review...10 minutes is about all ya need.
Thanks allot .. Good to know that my review helped you finding any mistakes in the kit before buying it ! So be free to check the rest of my reviews and don't worrie there are more to come 👍
DutchModeling Actually your parts inventory helped me, things like the balls and chains, clear vision ports being included let me know I don't have to go with aftermarket kits. Thanks!!!
