    I love what you said that the 1 inch is not just for real estate or professionals but can also be used for personal videos or even vlogging. If people traveling can carry DSLR cameras with heavy gimbals for vlogging, why can't they do so with a 240 grams 360 cam that is still smaller than a DSLR or vlogging cameras except of course for the action cameras. Thanks again for the review.

      thanks for agreeing with what I said, that is the way I feel about this kind of cameras and you are also right about those big DSLR cameras

      @@OttoJulian_ i think it's more important to get the best camera you can get whether it's a 360 cam, an action cam or DSLR for your personal/family use and compromise on the weight coz it's better to take the best quality that's available at the time (if you can afford it) since once you have captured that moment, you can no longer go back in time to recapture it again and having the best quality camera (again if you can afford it) would give you more details or the beat details of that moment that you have captured. Although we never know what the future holds for us, if there will be softwares that can probably enhance the resolution of what we have Captured before i.e. Enhancing a 360p to an 8K 😅. Anyway, saving up for the 1 inch to start my vlogging, but hoping to also see a dji pocket 3 with 1 inch sensor for a different use case.

    As a professional video producer, I use both cameras. The top thing for me on the RS 1 is low light situations. But for action sports, water situations or the option to film in nearly 4k at 60 fps single camera mode, the x3 offers that.

    I think they will need to increase the resolution a lot as 6k is spread much too thin for a quality all-round view. So, I will stick with my X2 for just a play around cam until they make a decent one and include a replaceable lens shield of some sort as well as making it waterproof & not fail after 30min. However, I would buy one if they lowered the price to £300.

    Overheating is a huge problem here in the Mojave Desert. My X3 can overheat in 10 minutes when it's 100 degrees outside. When it gets up to 113 degrees tomorrow, I'll be amazed if it lasts for more than 5 minutes.

    The sensor of the One RS 1-inch is not double the size, but four times the size! Half an inch by half an inch will fit four times in 1 inch by 1 inch ❗️

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good insight. However, camera sensors are not square (not that it matters for the formula) and 1” sensors don’t really measure 1” anywhere, not even diagonally. This is something that the camera industry has adopted from early years and there is whole explanation around it but I’m not getting into the details. With that being said, half inch is also not really half inch and the bottom line is that since these sensors can vary in sizes, a 1” sensor will not be exactly 4 times bigger than the 1/2”. True, it’s not exactly double either but since we don’t have the true sensor sizes we really can’t tell. I wouldn’t feel comfortable saying it’s 4 times bigger since you are not getting 4 times the amount of light or anything like that.
      So are we being “lied” about the sensor size? I feel that it gives the wrong idea but well, every single manufacturer has been doing the same and I think that it is a good reference point as long as they respect some “limits”

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And with all that being said, I guess I should have said that the RS has a way bigger sensor than the one on the X3 ☺️

    • @juhaaavalaakso455
      @juhaaavalaakso455 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OttoJulian_ I have seen so many times that people believes that sensor size is everything. Sony AX43A and Sony A6400 with KIT lens are equal in low light when shooting 4k. AX43A is 1/2.5 Stacked Sensor and A6400 is normal APS-C size. But in many cases AX43A is sharper and better looking since AX43A sensor is Stacked. And another thing is lens and second thing is pixel size in lens. AX43A has also less megapixels and pixels are bigger. Even 12Mpx Full frame is insanely better than full frame 64mpx in low low light because the pixel size is a lot bigger. TH-cam is so much false information that I sometimes feel sad about that. For instance I have seen so many times hearing that Action 3 and Pocket 2 has same sensor = same quality. Well. Seriously not. P2 has 1.8 lens and Action 3 has 2.8 lens. Then do the calculation. Pocket 2 can clearly be seen much better in low light than Action 3 that's a fact and visibly seen in videos. Yes Action 3 has a lot better dynamic range the sensor is newer and different. But size is the same. I actually never seen a video in TH-cam who would do clear comparison and explanation of these things. Actually this is one of the best examples: th-cam.com/video/QRyJQDBGftg/w-d-xo.html and yes 1 inch sensor has nothing to do with 2,54 cm from corner to corner.

      it's a new strategy to keep people in the video waiting for the moment where I fall asleep.
      The bad thing is that I can't make everyone happy, I don't fall asleep at the end (although that would be funny), when I go too fast people complain and when I go slow people are also not happy. I think I will try falling asleep, maybe then everyone will be happy. Have a good one

    Great review! This is exactly what I was looking for. I have been considering both for creating content on my motorcycle and already have a GoPro and Osmo Pocket. Therefore I’m only looking to buy 1 of these two options from insta360. 2 things stood out to me, the overheating and limited waterproofing on the R1. I see that they don’t offer an underwater housing for the R1 which may be due to the overheating issue. If they did I may have given it a try. GoPro has overheating issues but if you are moving air across the camera it’s less likely to overheat. While I would really like to take advantage of that 1” sensor the 2 issues I stated above are deal breakers for the RS1.

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for your feedback! which one would I carry around, between these two? If money is not an issue and you don't need waterproof I would go with the RS-1, just because I like to have higher resolution and I like to have less noise in low light scenarios. Not that the RS 1" will be as good as a regular Full Frame camera but it will be better than the other one.

    • @BommeltjeNL
      @BommeltjeNL ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can disassemble the whole kit and then you have separate: the lenses, the display, the battery and the holder. I bought an extra battery, but haven't needed it yet. When you put the parts together again, you need to push them into each other firmly, to make sure the connection isn't interrupted. So once put together (and working fine) I like to leave it that way. Besides that I use an external power bank for longer recordings.
      The choise between these two cameras is easy. Are you using it when doing sports and action, then go for the X3. Do you want better quality and if you're able to handle your camera with care, then go for the One RS 1-inch.

    Sounds like the RS 1 Inch is only better at higher quality potential, when you can even use it. I'm pretty much every comparison he gave, the X3 seemed to easily perform better. It doesn't overheat, it lasts longer for battery and they are cheaper too, plus it's half the cost. If the X3 had a Leica lens, that would be worth a bit extra, but the RS 1 I see almost zero reason to get.

Currently, I have been shooting my Travel Vlogs on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and think it’s the best I have used overall. I would like to use an Insta 360 Camera for certain videos (not entire vlogs, but for certain shots), such as Drone-Like shots or shots on a Cruise Ship to show the outer portion of a ship. I don’t do color grading, and would prefer to use auto settings. I shoot in Full HD 60 FPS. I also want to use one that is not too complicated to use. I tried using the Pocket 2, but did not like how it took too much Time to use, as well as the issue with getting the micro SD Card to click. Out of these 2 cameras, which would You use for travel (given my situation)? Thank You. Hope All is Well.

      @@OttoJulian_ Hi Otto! Hope You are Well. Thank You for the reply! No, I still have not gotten any of those, yet. I am interested in trying the Canon PowerShot V10. In terms of the 360 Camera, I would like to get one of them before my next Cruise, or at least by the beginning of next Year. Cruises do not allow Drone use (unless an employee has permission), and I am not a Cruise company employee. I don’t own a drone, but until I am able to invest in a drone, a 360 Camera would be nice. The only downside is that often 360 footage looks really bad, in terms of pixelation. I preferably would want one that is Water Proof.
      In terms of the 1 in Sensors, I am not sure how much of a difference they actually make. For example, the Canon V10 has a 1 in sensor, but I would not be surprised if the iPhone 14 Pro Max does a better job. In comparison videos, I have seen the iPhone outshine the more traditional
      Cameras like Sony ZV-1M2). Hope All is Well.

Even of the size isn’t exactly 1” or 0,5” - as long as that inaccuracy is the same with both sensors, you’d still need 4 of the smaller ones to make 1 big one.
      It also doesn’t matter if the sensors aren’t square (which they are on 360 cameras by the way). If you have 16:9 or 3:4 sensors with 0,5” or 1” diagonal, you’d still need 4. As long as the aspect ratio stays the same.

      you can connect the camera to your PC or remove the microSD card and transfer the files with a card reader. Either way, you need to transfer TWO files per video (last numbers will be identical)

    Actually, talking about a one inch camera is not really correct. The typical diagonal of a modern 1-inch type sensor is, 16mm (15.9mm, to be precise) and not one inch (25.2 mm).

      et the RS 1" only for low light and if you prefer higher quality to watch on a bigger screen. The X3 has more features and it's waterproof, but will not perform well in low light.

Love the better quality image on RS 1" (even in daylight), but little disturbed with overheating issue and missing single lens mode on it, just curious whats your choice if they are now just $40 difference in price

    • @OttoJulian_

      having a lens on each side that sticks out makes it a camera that needs to be taken care of properly. Audio doesn't "suck" in my opinion but side by side against other similar cameras I feel that it's the one that would be in last place

    Each sensor is actually four times bigger, as they are measured diagonally 🙂

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry. That’s not how it works. This has been explained by Marques and other people: It is not 4 times bigger, let me just copy paste this for you:
      “camera sensors are not square (not that it matters for the formula) and 1” sensors don’t really measure 1” anywhere, not even diagonally.
I feel that it gives the wrong idea but well, every single manufacturer has been doing the same and I think that it is a good reference point as long as they respect some “limits””

    • @terrencejustice4543
      @terrencejustice4543 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Marques’ explanation is perfectly valid, but even using an accurate LINEAR measurement to describe a sensor whose AREA is used to capture light is ALSO highly misleading-a topic that he does not address. F-stops are not "linear" because the amount of light received by a sensor (or film) is a function of AREA.
      BOTH the 1" and 1/2" sensors suffer from the same 60% exaggeration of the LINEAR diagonal measurement. So, using the Marques’ 0.63 conversion for both sensors: the 1 inch sensor is actually 5/8” diagonal and the 1/2” becomes 5/16”. Using mm rather than fractions and a 1:1 aspect ratio for 360º camera:
      - RS1: 16mm diagonal ==> 11 W x 11 H = 121 mm^2
      - X3: 8mm diagonal ==> 5.5 W x 5.5 H = 30 mm^2
      The *area* of the RS 1-inch sensor is 4 times the size of the X3. Each linear measurement: diagonal, height, width is doubled. AREA = H x W and it follows that: Doubled H x Doubled W = Quadrupled Area.
      Area is what actually matters for photography (literally, the capturing of light). Pixels? Another subject altogether, but let's just assume that these two sensors have the same pixel count. In that case, EACH PIXEL would be double the width, double the height, and quadruple the area as its smaller cousin, thus capturing four times the amount of light for the same exposure.
      Bottom line, the exaggeration of the diagonal dimension is misleading. The use of a linear dimension for a sensor whose performance is based upon its area is even MORE misleading. So we’re dealing with marketing hyperbole SQUARED when it comes to sensors.
