First of all: thanks for the shoutout,I’ve really appreciate that 🤗 So,I will try to explain how I use to restore this type of hulls as good as I can.If something is after this not fully clear or understandable, just point it to me 👍 1. The various cracks which you can find often on these hulls happens because the LSS as also ABS plastic materials highly reacts with the glow fuel which destroys progressively their plasticizer .That‘s the reason why it“s so important to coat these hulls especially on its inner side with an 2 k paintshop with some nice 2 k clearcoat!! This ist the reason why as you perhaps have seen on my Kyosho Heatwave gp built that the whole inner compartment was painted by me. 2. It’s important to treat all cracks on the hull,I mix a mixture of 1:4 epoxyd resin with ABS Plastic powder and Cotton flakes .The Cotton flakes / Sanded ABS plastic powder mixture should be round about 50/50 .this powder is mixed into the 1:4 resin till it reaches the desired density. 3.before I apply the mentioned resin mixture on the cracks ,I sanded the region with 600sanding paper and apply 3 minutes before ! !!VERY THIN!!! A coat of aceton .This is important reach a perfect fusion between the resin/plastic/cotton mixture and the hull themself ,this premises a finish and strength that equals the product in new👍. 4. after this process you sanded the inner part of the hull with some wet 800k wet sandpaper and apply a plastic primer .After this like mentioned on part „1“ ,you apply a 2K coat,it can be nicely done with cans without problems. ------ I‘m really to glad to see somebody rebuilding this beauty and very pleased to be able to share a little bit of my experience in order to support the project 👍 Ps:after the hull is painted ,the hull will be conservated and it hold without problems many many years✌️
Comment 2 - Epic clean job, the hose washing was satisfying, lol!! Im thinking the epoxy might be a good plan for that, vintage boat hull repairs worldwide are waiting to see and hear your results on this! lol.
