    My favorite beater watch of all time. I have the khaki one. Mine is off by < 15 seconds per month, but if I do not adjust it for a long time, the average per month tends to be even better, so perhaps based on how I use it, swim, walk, expose to Florida sun, etc., it varies slightly, faster and slower. Overall, the watch is brilliant, particularly when you consider the price.

      @@jobnewton2152 "15 seconds per month is not good" -- With variations I have discussed earlier, it would likely be < 1 min per 6 months. I can live with that on a beater, and I adjust it around that interval.

      Good to be back. I spent a lot of time with family and got a few other projects done this summer but now I am having a bit more time to devote to The Good Timekeeping Show (with Greg Anderson). Maybe I need to find a fill-in host who isn’t busy right now. Imagine The Good Timekeeping Show with Seth Meyers. Or… maybe not.

    Great video. As it happens I’m carrying out my own little month long accuracy test of all my Casios and my green AE-1500 with the extra long strap is seemingly doing pretty good.
    BTW another 1500 that might interest you is the WS-1500H. Great watch with design similar to the AE-1500 but with a lot more features like fishing data, moon phase and a liquid crystal analog display that is bigger than say on the Royale and as a first I believe for Casio has cool animations on it according to what mode you’re in. Apparently the module is brand new and exclusive to the WS-1500H which is a 2023 release. Around 30 bucks in the US I believe.

    Makes sense now as to why they jump the minute up one if the seconds is after 30. With a +/- 30 second a month accuracy, setting Your watch to exact once a month can be done with one press of the adjustment button as it will always be jumped up or back down to the correct minute.

    I think the temperature variation from wearing or not wearing the watch can matter on a small scale. Various high accuracy quartz watches use thermocompensation to try and adjust for this, but many also stipulate their claimed accuracies of 5 seconds a year or whatever can only be achieved if the watch is worn for X hours a day. I feel like if it didn't matter then HAQs wouldn't need to stipulate that.

    Could be interesting to see the accuracy differences of each watch from month to month (or week to week). From my limited testing it is very consistent. If so, why wouldn't casio just add a speed offset option to be set by the user? Any watch could then be accurate to a few seconds a year. Then again, probably not good business for casio, in relation to the auto syncing models.

      Casio used to put trimmer capacitors in virtually all their watches. Quite rare now though. Which is a pity. My older 690, 901 and 1199 modules I've trimmed to 1 sec a month without too much effort. 😊

    • @sylvainster30
      @sylvainster30 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanRC69 Really? I have 16 G-Shocks and the only ones that are really accurate are the atomic models and I have 1 GA700 that gains +1 sec a month….I set that one in January and its 8 sec off, that is a fluke because all the others are +3 to +5 sec a week

    • @DanRC69
      @DanRC69 ปีที่แล้ว

      @sylvainster30 I've got a GBX100 that after around 6 months is only +1 second (with bluetooth OFF) over my atomic 5600 which is amazing, my GA2110U is only about +7 seconds over the same time, gbd800 (never wear it though - uncomfortable) at about +14s, so all perfectly good.

    Quartz watches are affected by temperature. It is possible that they are factory-calibrated to the human body temperature. If that's the case, they will run more accurately while worn.

  • @yambo59

    considering I paid $20 for mine new im not going to complain one bit about this kind of accuracy - much like computer chips in computers you play the IC lottery, each one slightly different but still well within specs and beats many high dollar mechanical watches thqt run slower as the mainspring runs down and or it needs an expensive service. For me a decent quartz watch makes a lot more sense function wise than a $$$$$ Rolex thats more fragile when dropped and will need a very expensive service periodically to keep it within specs that often arent as good as a decent quartz watch..
