    Parts for a Sea Hurricane or Desert Hurricane (trop filter, arrester hook, cannons, etc) are included in the kit, but they are not mentioned anywhere in the box or the instructions. Blacked out areas on the instructions (from Scalemates) are where the parts are on the spues. Strange they didnt mention them, but they are there as of my kit arriving ( july 2024).

    Hi Nigel, great review gotta buy this kit. it looks smashing; I do like the hurricane more than a spit like you said. it's a tank with wings, lol.
    Cheers Gary 🇬🇧

    I think this would look good next to my 1/35th Airfix K2/Y. My casual visitors won't notice the scale difference.

    Hi Nige, Please don't start this straight away, I'm still playing catch up with Lancaster, K2 1/24 Spitfire and reviews.🙄 When do you find time to eat, sleep and take Jess for a walk ? Love the builds, I find something new in every one ; info, tips, products or general chit chat. Keep 'em coming. All the best for the new year. 😉

    In 1973 I built the original Revell 1/32 Hurricane. Not bad for 50 years ago...

    I believe the Later Hurricane Mk1's had a metal wing (Hawkers where notorious for updating an aircraft during production and sending parts out to the maintenance sections and having the wing duly swapped) ditto with the typhoon.

    Great video my friend and A excellent review looks a really decent kit by revell and fantastic value and that’s some of the best clear parts I’ve seen i to am following Paul’s build he’s doing a fantastic job looking forward to seeing you build it thanks for sharing 👍👍

    I'm with you. The Hurricane just looks the part, like a heavy weight boxer vs the Spitfire ballerina. It's the same with the P47 Razorback.

    I’ve been waiting for a decent kit of the Hurri in this scale for ages. Up until now, most releases have the lines all wrong.. it looks like Rev G finally got it right! And no ridiculous parts count either..

    At last it arrived. That being said, I think you have been fortunate as your example is better moulded than mine which has flash and is filthy with release fluid.
    As a kit, for £40, you can't go wrong. Unused parts on the sprues tell us a Sea Hurricane is coming in the future, and a high probability of a Mk1.

    Lovely looking kit! 👍
    Nicely reviewed too!! 😉
    I'm not normally a big fan of Revell kits - too many ancient moulds hidden in new boxes, and so many other brand kits used, though some are very nice; I like the ICM ones I've seen in Revell boxes!
    It looks as though there's a Sea Hurricane coming too at some point; I don't know if you noticed on the last two sprues shown, there are two under-fusalage 'fillets'; one for the MKII, and one with an arrester-hook recess...! 😊
    Looking forward to your build, Nigel, and I've been watching Paul's build too; I suppose I'm going to have to cave and get one of these too!! 😆

  • @ianthomson9363

    Regarding the cockpit framing, I would do it the old-fashioned way by painting strips of masking tape cut to the right width and stuck on the outside, though that would result in the colour of the tape being visible on the inside. If you can live with that, it might be the way to go.

  • @Jeff-cv4qn

  • @brettpeacock9116
    @brettpeacock9116 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, Nigel.... you will find two pieces for the underside of the rear fuselage. One is for a Sea Hurricane (Has a V shaped channel for the arrestor hook, which is also on the sprues.) and the other is plain - You use the second one for a standard RAF Fighter.
    BTW, did you spot the new HKM kits coming? The Big news is a 1/48 AND a 1/32 Douglas A-20 Boston/Havoc, probably a G model. Long overdue, that one is!

    • @NigelsModellingBench

      @@NigelsModellingBench I just bought their 1/48 B-17F kit - and they have (mostly) fixed that poor nose cross-section in front of the canopy! It is still a thousand times better than the oversized Revell panto of the F Fortress!

  • @memkiii
    @memkiii ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The footstep can be manually lowered, by hand or the toe of your boot, and stays down while the handhold above it is open. The hand-hold flap and stirrup are connected by cables, so closing it releases the footrest and allows it to retract under spring pressure. I don't think the kit has an option for an open handhold, so to be accurate it would need to be cut out and repositioned. I noticed that some restored Hurricanes no longer appear to have this flap cover/step linkage, and it has to be manually pushed in.

    • @NigelsModellingBench

      Thank you for this!!

    • @davegoldsmith4020
      @davegoldsmith4020 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NigelsModellingBench Just to confirm, pulling the footstep down releases the handhold, closing the handhold closes the footstep. In three years working on Hurricanes I never saw it opened any other way than by hand, you need to pull it down firmly or it will not lock in the open position.

      I've never suffered a crushed box through the post from Jadlam. Maybe I have been lucky? I love their rewards scheme and free postage. I recently ordered some fish tank stuff from an online store. They had a reward scheme that promised 1 point for every pound spent. Turns out you only get 1 point per pound spent on the pre-vat price. Ordered something for £56, but only got 47 points. Now that is crap lol.

    Looks like a nice kit. Curious; did you not notice the second fuselage aft lower section? The one you highlighted has the recesses for a tail hook, undoubtedly a Sea Hurricane is next in the pipeline. Is the tailhook somewhere in the "not used" parts listing? I'm a little partial to naval aircraft. ;^)

    • @NigelsModellingBench

    My Revell Hurricane passed quality control with a lot more flash and seams. And the unnecessary ejection pin marks everywhere, constructions that wil give seams when built (top fuselage and intake for example). Major disappointments as I think this kit could have been constructed better. The only good thing is the price tag. So I will just have to accept the lower quality and get on with it 😅

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear that. I have heard a few say that their kits are flashy and dirty??

    • @DutchDaveModels
      @DutchDaveModels ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NigelsModellingBench Hi Nigel. Mine is not dirty (only 2 minor spots) but had many parts with flash on them (I and G sprue). A bit strange for new tooling I would say. And when I look at the parts, on some of the runners there're a lot of seams to be taken care of. And then the huge pin marks on the cockpit interior, guns, wheel covers, gear and many more parts. Also seams everywhere on the gear legs, guns, cockpit parts, traces of flash and seams on the prop, Why exactly on those spots and parts? And why not add a separate upper dorsal part to prevent a seam and make the intake 1 part? Even for that price Revell could have stepped up a bit with these tooling decisions. The glass is OK and overall the kit has some really nice details added but then no engine at all... Even their old H-217 had an engine.. It feels like a 1990-2000 tooled kit rather then a 2020 quality kit because of this. And i am surprised that only a few people reviewing this kit have mentioned these major flaws.
      But I will build this kit anyhow and I am still a Revell fan. Just a bit disappointed with this one I guess 😔

      @@NigelsModellingBench i think details on Fly model are much better. Poor wheels, cockpit also not so accurate. Low number of rivets etc. I just expected something more in 2022/23 :) Just look at amazing new tools last years. HK models with Lancaster, Minibase with Su-33. New Tamiya F-35a or Arma hobby with whole 1/72 scale line. They are bring us much better quality.

    Kit looks a cracker. Been following Paul's build and it looks like it is going together well. For the money the kit looks a winner. The night scheme would be an interesting choice and something really different.
