Me thinks it's time to react to the North American Accent Tour by WIRED 😁
There are different accents within Georgia. My family is mostly from there, and I’ve lived near the state line all my life. I would never have picked the lady from Atlanta as being from Atlanta. It could be that she was born there, but her parents are from somewhere else. Or, as she said, they have lived abroad.
I definitely hear differences in all my UK TH-camr family. I personally love them all 🥰...sometimes I do misunderstand the UK accents. I think its just because you all pronounce words differently sometimes or your word may not have the same meaning as in the States. Thank you for checking out our accents...these 5 are just a few of the many that there are.
I love my TH-cam Brits ❤❤. I watch Mr H, Kabir,L3WG, Adam Couser, Lost in the Pond, The Beesleys and Raygo Bloom. Every accent is a little different, but all lovely 🤩. I love your accents,as well ❤️🩹. It's awesome listening to the difference. I'm from California. Love your videos 😍
Don't forget the Office Blokes, Office Bloke Daz, and OB Dave reacts. Oh, and Brit Pops React.
As for a UK accent, I have some of my favorite youtubers that are from the u. K like yourselves. I am friends with Mr. H, there's Kabir considers, there's yaz and fats. There's even the boys from jolly. I can differentiate the difference of certain UK accents, for example, I know when somebody is from, let's say Manchester, there's a certain different accent from someone who is from, let's say, london, I know what a liverpool accent sounds like I know where somebody who was from blackpool, I also been around a person that is from Nottingham, but I do love the UK accent. Um, if you were to ask me, what is my top five favorite international accents?Well, here we go.Let me give it to you
1. Australian
2. Irish
3. English
4. Scottish
5. French
I must point out that the New York accent is the accent for New York City and the surrounding areas only. The rest of NY State has many different accents depending on location. New Yorkers who live near the US-Canada border sound Canadian and sometimes French Canadian if the live near Quebec-- French-speaking Canada. The NY girl also has a NY accent for the Black community. The Black girl from Atlanta has a Black southern accent, I would not know she is from Atlanta. Accents are different between the races in the US. A NY White person will speak differently than a Black, Latino or Asian. When I am on the phone I really notice the accents of Black Americans no matter where they come from or live. I can tell they are Black, but not always where they are from. Ethnic background also plays a huge part in most US accents.
Generally speaking I can tell what region of the US people are from, but not always the state or city. The guy from California has a common White California accent to me. It's neutral, but that neutrality makes it more noticeable.
That was not an NYC accent. That was maybe an upstate accent because she's verging on Canadian in her pronunciations.
@@ellax325 That was a NYC area accent. I am a native New Yorker. I also lived on the Canadian border for a few years and I know that was not a Canadianesque accent.
With the Beasley’s I first start watching j3 years ago I couldn’t understand anything James said now when Millie says a lot of people don’t understand him. I say I understand everything he’s say. I evolved
I do agree that single words is probably the worst way to compare accents. I think it would be much better to have each person use a particular word in a sentence or two of their own making. This would take the concentration away from a single word so it would sound more natural for them. How words are used to construct sentences also gives good clues about where someone is from.
OUAT, there were some ineresting "oi" sounds in parts of NY.
E.g., "toilet" sounded like "turlet."
You should really watch the North American Accent Tour by WIRED. It is much more thorough and very entertaining!! 😊
First, let me speak on the fellow North American accents. Uh, I'm also from New York. I'm a fellow new Yorker like hunter and yeah, a lot of the words that she was saying, that's exactly how we say it. Uh, it depends also on the area of New York as well. Um, if you're more a part of let's say the 5 boroughs in southern New York. Yeah, it'll sound different, so If you're from, like The Bronx or Manhattan or queens or Brooklyn or Staten Island yet they'll have a different pronunciation or even where I'm from Westchester County, uh, it'll have a different accent, but once you start going further, north northern New York like up in Syracuse or Dutches, county or Buffalo or Rochester? Yeah, it'll sound a lot different, but for most part, most of us, new yorkers, we accentuate a word a little more like, for example, uh, floor is a good example. It sounds more like we saying four instead of floor or water. It sounds more like we're saying what a.
And then, of course, uh, we heard them talk about New England all the states that are part of New England they also have their different accents like Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island etc have a different accent as well. That's one of the reasons why, for most part, we always say, like here in the states, almost every state is like its own country.Anyway, there are differences and there are likes, but for the most part, very different.
I hate to be so wordy but I forgot to mention Jolly 😁. I think you guys are so sweet and kind 💟. The British humour is the best. I have a sarcastic sense myself and appreciate it. It's far more funny than American humour ❤😂
I can understand the BBC news hosts & reporters, but after them, it starts to get tough
These are younger people so their regional accents aren't as strong. If you go up a generation or two the accent will be thicker.
Im in northeast ohio and ive been accused of sounding like im from New York, but ive been more in the cities. The southern Ohio accent is a bit different.
Taken out of a sentence, they do sound similar. Let the rattle these off in long sentences. Then you will hear the difference.
That was not representative of all of GA. They all seemed to minimize the regional variations that exist. Sometimes, two ethnic groups in the same area can be very, very different, LA and NYC come to mind. Then, there were a bunch of regional accents that were not represented. For example, you can't just say "Southern" with any specificity because a LA accent is very, very different from a SC accent or a Florida Accent. Texas is its own universe entirely. Coastal CA is different from inland CA, and there are similar differences across the Midwest and the East. Listening to these five makes it seem like all of those disparate regions are quite similar. Then, there is the difference in syntax and vocabulary that they didn't touch.
In this age group, they are all influenced by social media, they are going to sound closer to the same.
You can't take these peoples pronunciations as an accurate representation of their accents because they are pronouncing a single word, for example: oil, in order to get a real representation of their accents you would have to get it use in a sentence or statement, such as "I am going to town to pick up some oil for my car". Oh, the young ladies from the south sound more northern that we do around here in Louisiana.
Some u tuber BRITS if they talk to fast it’s like marbles in their mouth I can’t understand lol
In many brit accents they dont really pronounce their own words. "init" "boo o wo ah" and then add slang which is also not fully pronounced. ive heard it described as speaking in short hand minus the education a sternographer has.
I have seen American TV programs use subtitles when certain Brits are being interviewed. Some British accents are nice and easy to understand, while others are just horrible and difficult to understand. To me, I hate the accent on the Gallagher brothers of the British band of Oasis. Those two speak horribly and that makes their accent many times worse to listen to and understand. Most UK TH-camrs speak clear enough to be understood, while others need to speak louder and open their mouths more.
I listen to enough British heavy metal music to know how Brits speak. That's makes it easier when someone has a really thick accent.
