That is a crazy price tag for a TRD sport. TBH even a TDR off road premium for that much would still seem a little steep. I like it and it looks like, but hard plastic, part time 4WD and an automatic lowering tailgate doesn’t cut it at the price tag in my opinion
The transmission issues are the only reason I haven't bought a Taco for my son yet. We're leaning towards GM, but it also have a turbo 4. Their turbo 4 has been out since 2018 in the half ton trucks though, and they don't seem to be having many issues with it. Speaking of GM, they have an 8-speed mounted to their turbo 4 engines too. It's Toyota using the same transmission?
@@domin8ss I've heard that Toyota's 8 speed automatic is made by Aisin, but I'm not 100% sure. It seems like a lot of new truck buyers are hopping over from the Tacoma to the Nissan Frontier based on cost and reliability. @thekidlacroix this might be out of date info, so please keep that in mind with what I'm about to say. Iirc, Aisin is Isuzu. GM has controlling ownership in Isuzu. GM and Toyota have long had manufacturing and supply partnerships. That's why I suspect the Toyota trans is also the GM trans. I have been eyeballing the Frontier, but I have my concerns due to Nissan's high depreciation rate. If I buy my son the Chevy, the parts will be more widely available and cheaper when it breaks down. If I buy my son a Taco it's because it'll last him a long time and have a higher resale should he choose to part ways with it. It's a question of equity versus easy maintenance.
Toyota dealers went crazy during Covid with markups so I think the company decided to put a stop to it by raising the msrps to crazy new heights. After the early adopters snag theirs, these will pile up on lots like the Tundra and Taco and discounts will be offered to move them.

Got a fully loaded 5th gen Limited for the same price
You got way more for the money. This new generation is a mess
No hood struts is disappointing. Appears to be a lot of cost cutting with the exception of price.
They are doing what they did last gen Jon---no dual control unless on uber trims. ventilated was only available on limited on last gen so technically better in some respects.
I think the 4Runner TRD Sport Premium with the Ice White is the best looking new 4Runner and I'm surprised that I'm saying that LOL, I really like the new 20" rims. I own a 2022 4Runner TRD PRO in LimeRush and I'm thinking of trading in for this new TRD Sport, call me CRAZY
4 cylinder close to $60k absolutely crazy
Sweet set up, but why is it 20K, more than the current model. I checked the current TRD PRO, and in Canada (BC) it's 71K, the new one will be close if not over 90K. That seems a little bit 😮 Hope the new ones are like tanks as the old ones.
It's a beautiful vehicle, especially with the color, but i'll wait for the 3rd year production model to buy it
Does this come with the crawl mode?
why is there one off center license plate light??? that is killing me
Key details that most are not talking about yet people are happy to give 50k away on some afterthought details. ouch
