    Yes, it is from Beyond the Lighted Stage. One thing about Neil is that he had a goofy side as well which I am sure was brought out even more by Geddy and Alex. Check out Rash episode 2 The real history of Rush and the family Sawyer. These guys loved doing little skits for the shows and these are two of them. There are a couple of docs for you to react to that I think you would enjoy.
    The Boys in Brazil which is about their tour in South America
    and The making of Snakes and Arrows along with the full Dan Rather interview. The other fellow talking was Kim Mitchell who was part of the band Max Webster. Rush and Max Webster do a song together called Battlescar and it is a banger!
    Cheers

    Idk how you can wait to see "Beyond the Lighted Stage" rockumentary. It will provide some great insight into the guys and truly show what an anomaly they were. The 70s was a decade of partying and decadence! I was 16 in 1975 and I can personally vouch for all the hype.
    David Crosby once said "If you remember the 60s, you weren't there (paraphrased)." I say that's true about the 70s, too! ✌😉

    Kiss was my first favorite band when I was in grade school in the late 70’s. Then I graduated to more serious, adult, intellectual rock - Rush. I still like Kiss but don’t listen to them much nowadays. But I have great respect for them for all the reasons that Geddy spoke about in this clip. Rush really learned how to be a serious and hard working band from Kiss.

    • @DionysusAlS
      @DionysusAlS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, I think Kiss was the gateway to Rush for a lot of fans-- I would guess most. That was the case with me, for sure. It's a shame that Kiss never really aspired to be anything other than what they were. I definitely outgrew them.

    I saw Kiss around '84/'85 right after they took off their makeup around the time of lick It up and although I'm not a big fan they did put on a good show, saw Rush a few years later. Back then they were my second favorite band behind Led Zeppelin but as the years went by they pretty much took the number one spot. I've always had tons of respect for Rush because they weren't the typical sex drugs and rock and roll kind of band, they consistently put out good albums and toured regularly and very professional and always played tight consistently in concerts. You never heard about them having a bunch of problems with drugs or party lifestyle or fighting within the band and everything else that often comes with rock bands. Massive massive respect for Rush beyond words

    When I was younger and into KISS in the seventies I never knew how close these two bands got. To see that pic of Peter Criss and Neil Peart hugging is so cool. Peter was my favorite band member.

    Fascinating how Kiss took the guys under their wing as a touring band, like Geddy said, a great example of a band turning out one hell of a live show.

    I know I saw KISS back then, but I don't remember if Rush opened for them or not. I also saw Rush 4 times in the mid to late 70's as a headliner. I wasn't able to get to see them live after that. Thanks to youtube and bootlegs it's great to be able to see their later shows now. I've also bought some of their DVD concerts to give them some $ too (along with their albums and a few that were remastered).

    Kiss was my favorite in the 70's when I was a teenager, then I heard Rush; needless to say, Kiss was forgotten. I love how Neil is just as tall as the guys in Kiss even with their 7 inch heels....classic

  • @richierich398
    @richierich398 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When I first saw the documentary, I was surprised that rush opened for kiss. They definitely seem like an unlikely group of bands to tour together. but looking back to very early rush, now it makes sense. Yeah no doubt rush owes some of their success to kiss. Gene Simmons is a very intelligent guy. He understood branding and made kiss more than just a band.

      Maybe not stealing fans, but definitely landing firmly on their radars. Which was something considering how little radio play or promotion Rush were getting outside of Canada or the upper midwest.
