I'm around SHD 1200 and have 800 hours played and I've never tried Countdown. Will take this video as a sign to give it a try. I play primarily solo so haven't tried many PvP modes.
This Is PVE... and just follow everyone else's lead. You will never farm the same way again SO MUCH LOOT!! Keep me posted!
I play mostly solo as well. The nice thing about Countdown is no mic is required. Just follow the group, complete the tasks and kill stuff.
I play 90% solo, the other 10% is Countdown farming. I definitely recommend it. The majority of the other players go out of their way to kill everything, break line of sight, move in front of you, push you out the way etc. I just let them kill everything and pick up loot. You can also target farm which is great.
Ya if you've never tried countdown you certainly should it's fun. Alot of loot
We’re pretty much the same on hrs and SHD lvl.
Thank you for making this video. This is a much needed guide. Don't get me wrong, I'm all in for helping new players but I think that they have to put some minimal effort before jumping to heroic, like watching this video and playing on challenging first.
Things I would add:
- Vip are not only longer, there is (or was?) a bug where the vip goes down and you just cannot revive him, thus mission failed. That's why veterans avoid it.
- Protection from elite (PFE) mods are really usefull. On heroic difficulty, there's at least 95% of ads that are elites, and it also works for hunters.
- From the devs: ''Crashes can occur when interacting and trying to claim the final loot cache in the Countdown mode''. You can see it in the Division 2 section on Trello. The good thing is that it was in the ''Investigating'' phase for several months and it has recently been moved to the ''In progress'' phase, that's the last step before the ''Fix ready''.
- Finally I would say that in an ideal run, after completing the 3 objectives, everyone should focus on taking down hunters first as they do tremendous amount of damage and can kill you before you can even know what's going on.

Countdown is amazing for gear farming. I remember that, when I first started getting serious about playing, it would take weeks to get the pieces needed for a build. Now it doesn't seem to take more than a couple of Countdown runs. And, when you work with a group who helps you farm, it goes really quick - which I've been doing with QD Pistols and her group. Four or five in the countdown helping you farm yields dividends quickly.

One tip i would like to add from my personal experiences. When u call in for the Heil if ur team is good. Depending on when the Heil gets called in, you may be able to take 1 or 2 waves of enemies before you need to leave. Their has been many time I was greedy for my loot and was not able to make it out in time and was not able to get the extension bonus. I ended up getting like 60 to 80 credit, where if extension with everyone and got the bonus i would end with avg around 150 to 160. Having more credit could help you get that exotic you need for a build. For it like 300ish in countdown vendor, and u can buy an exotic box.

All I would add is always do Heroic.
And use protection from elite mods. I usual run one piece of improvised for the extra mod slot, and survivalist for the extra boost. The incendiary grenades are great for the helicopter landings at the end.
Good points on the skill build users and the guys who like to run in front of the fire of other players. I dont know how many times I have had some asshat run in front of me shooting. And I have seen full on arguments in groups with some genius cant figure out why everybody is yelling at him for putting on his drone/turret around Hunters.
I try to call it out on the first 3 hunters then let them know to switch out to shield cause it will get hacked, being about to see everyone’s skills next to there name is super helpful cause then you can call them out by name
As a new player, watch level 250, so many videos, extolling the joy of loot in countdown. Even though I was relatively low I finally gave it a shot. I’ve been kicked a few times but I would say 90% of the time no problems. Still learning but I follow the group. if there’s something to click, I click it and I follow the group. And the stuff goes down so fast that I do my best to at least do a little bit of damage but half the time I just see those giant yellow shafts of loot light popping up everywhere. It really is the most fantastic farm in the game. And I always laugh if I do get kicked for my level because I’m certainly not holding anybody back. Bad guys are dropping in 1 to 2 seconds. So if you get kicked for a low level, whoever did it is a jack ass. Don’t worry about them. Just get back in the queue. And yeah you really do need 50 slots open.

Always useful to have a guide to modes familiar and unfamiliar. My preordered copy of Division: Hunted (Operation Crossroads) was delivered yesterday. It is definitely a solid follow up to Recruited and Compromised. Plot confirms what I thought was going to happen to a specific character. As for certain other named characters from the game well they are present as well. It’s connecting and certainly would tie in with events of Year 5 so far. Anyhow thanks for the countdown review.
As a new player you will not find people on normal and the vet players will take care of like 80% of the fight. So don’t be scared to jump into challenging
My shd lvl is 150 is that high enough? Also will a striker gunner with banshee pulse and shield be ok? I don't have a lot of PGE mods so challenging should be ok right? I just started playing 3 weeks ago
@@calebjones823 oh yeah dude. Just jump in a game and follow everyone else. If you want to be extra safe just put a revive hive on so you can self res. The hunters hit hard so just take cover and just stay with the group. Also make sure to have at least 50 spots available in your inventory.

Im currently at level 60 SHD going to attempt it now xd im a bit scared but running tanky with shield and technician for a hive i dont have to deploy hope it works out xd @RunYourLuck
There is a known bug in CD where the person looting the final chest will disconnect from the game. I have had this happen to me a few times. Whenever I loot the final chest I unlock it and then immediately exit out so that the loot is on the floor. I can then safely loot it from the floor rather than the chest. I haven't had a single DC with this approach, hopefully it helps others.
Regarding the leaving early you could also mention to also NOT leave after the main objective.
Had so many groups recently where at least two players went out after MO complete and then you can basically forget about getting out alive with so many elites and hunters lurking around the extraction point.
Now THATS a strange one. Why Leave before you get all the good loot?

@patrickdasp5609 @TheGamingBrigadeTV If I understood well, thats a known bug, happens very frequently on the last chest and if you pay atention it always happen when the main objective its close to the extraction site.
No one is leavjng because they want to unless the group is all over the place doing nothing.

@@TheGamingBrigadeTV two hours and zero exotic backpacks, ran one round and got the st Elmo’s engine and capacitor in the same run, swapped back to backpacks natta . The is a glitch when you collect the chest loot in countdown game crashes, happened 3 times.
Countdown is by far the fastest way to farm for exotics. If everything works out on Challenging you will get 158 Countdown credits. You can buy an exotic cache from the Countdown vendor for 224. Heroic is 208 Countdown credits, again, if everything goes right (which I find is most of the time). I also want to emphasis not calling the helicopter until 10 seconds or less.
Yes, call helicopter around 5 seconds maybe 8, no sooner.
I agree, My 7 Chameleons make me happy and sad at the same time lol. At least one of them is rolled maxed.

Good video, but I think you missed a crucial info that is not obvious to your target audience: when those initial hunters are killed, they don't drop loot, BUT they drop the dog tags which must be picked up and you get the credits for them at the end. People might think that's not important and run past and miss out on 50 credits.
What I personally would have liked some more explanation on, which I'm still not grasping, is what unlocks the orange chests after the encounters. I sometimes see them unlock, sometimes not, and I don't get it how it works. Is it only one chest opening per countdown? Is it only on the final encounter?

I would say farming summit on legendary gets quite good high end loot. And it’s easy if you have two with striker builds in a full group
Team member gave me the dlc and I hit. Lvl 40 today been about a 2 month grind since I’ve been back playing the past 4 months and can’t wait to start this
There is a massive amount of stuff to do in the game it’s insane lol exotic caches here we come lol
I always do Countdown in heroic.I use a full protection from elites dps build and its like butter

I am SHD 27 and tried getting into Countdown but I get kicked in lobby because I am new. I would love to matchmake on hard or normal but it's empty, so I am forced to farm solo in summit. I can't get good rolls on gear playing on hard though, so the step up to Challenging is difficult to make.
I joined a clan yesterday and hope I could get some help to catch up to the rest of the player base.

What is this? When I play countdown, and I do play solo, I always get the same linear "storyline", and basically only a drop from the "boss" in the place where I have to rescue a fellow agent in a burning control room..

I haven’t played this game since 2020. I’m new to all this stuff. And my build is non existent. Is countdown the best place to get gear? And do you think groups will allow me to play with them with me being so low levelled?
Yes… it may just take time as the game is very slow right now.. but things will pick up very soon. 👍
I hope your family is well especially after there lost last year and the first Christmas without a loved one is hard. When I play countdown lately looking for gearmods especially 13 protection for elites but I get very low level mods and I playing in heroic?
I honestly don’t see a huge difference between the difficulties. But theoretically, you are supposed to get higher quality on the higher difficulty.
You get a few with good rolls but yeah may as well do everything in challenging just as good may need to level up a bit that means you play that game we all love more
I only really play every now and then, never tried countdown. I play a lot of solo content so I usually don't play the modes that involve grouping up with people. Maybe I'll try this though, if the loot is really that farmable
People don't want agents with striker drones and stinger hives? That explains why they keep kicking me in setup.
Revive hive and shield/riot foam is the most common

The hunter also will blast an EMP. Does this mean that skill build will just be sitting ducks when face with hunters?
Pls do not use skill builds in countdown (turret/drone) mainly. During the objectives its okay. Against hunters no, they hack the deployable skills and use them against you other reason to not use them is u will get kicked a lot.
I have died for hacked skills before at extraction because some chump decided to deploy is 6 skill tier turret on our backs

I'm a new player and i have no build but i wanna start by getting the exotic weapons to have a chance to farm better armors, but i worry anout the elitist if they see i have no build on

never had problems with heroic countdown. i played it even without max shd level. sometimes you get a team which is not working togehter and you will lose but mostly you can play heroic even with low shd level. just try it. it is also sometimes important what kind of countermeasurements you get. a few days ago i was playing coutndown with guys which had shd lvl 300 or below and we were walking through this like it is nothing.
Ong about that last part, im pretty new to the game (around shd lv 39 rn) and there was this game right after I got st elmos for the first time and I had this crit build I had been using for awhile on in that one game and I was doing around 1.5 million damage for every crit shot and after that it went down to 500-600 thousand. It was probably a combination of some of my teammates buffing me and the countermeasures that allowed me to do so much damage at such a low level. I'm praying for another game like that again. 😂

Yes… you will typically get better loot on heroic. But you can still get great loot on challenging as well

I don’t feel like the VIP is that much different time wise. Especially if it is available right next door. The time you spend running is what drives me crazy. VIP does however seem to have the most enemies to kill. A good group clears it fast, and more enemies means more loot drops. If loot is the point, I never mind the VIP option. Actually kinda prefer it on challenging.
I dont mind it either but some people get really pissed off if you engage it. Worst place for the VIP ia the cooling tower imo.

Jump right in on challenging difficulty you’ll bring up your and tech pretty fast and you can get great gear for builds quicker

As someone whose shd lvl is nearing 780 and has done countdown numerous times I always wanna boot the people with skills that can be hacked

how do you get to being able to mow down challenging/ heroic though? i’m end game and lvl 130, i inspect higher lvl players and have similar stats but heroic and challenging enemies in countdown now me down, even struggled on hard mode
Honestly, for me, it’s just repetition. Truly learning my build learning the area that surrounds me knowing where I’m going to have cover if I needed it, etc.
I always get disconnected from countdown and never actually make ir into a connected game so idk if there is a fix for it😑

The only thing i can’t really google, is the loot better on heroic? I can never find a straight answer.
In Countdown loot always drops with heroic tier stats even on Challenging, that's why people prefer to run it on Challenging, because the jump from Challenging to Heroic is less of a slope and more of a cliff, in terms of how hard the enemies hit and how much more damage spongy they are on Heroic.

I’m SHD level 140 and run a heartbreaker set. Would I be able to actually do countdown, or would I just be a liability/need to be carried?
A little bit of both, both the good thing is after about 20-25CD you should have max stats on your gears assuming you target your set and transfer stats, you could probably even make an all red heart breaker for CD with ease which will make it much easier.
I think you should still go maybe you will get kicked a few times but you will build up your gears quickly, personally if I have 5 well geared people with me, I don’t mind to carry 2.
If the group has two ouroboros, they can carry 6 people lol

Question for the community. Is there a big difference in the loot gathered between Challenging and Heroic in Countdown? I have only played Heroic 3 times and didnt really notice any difference. Am i right or have you seen a big difference?
No there's no difference. Maybe a few more items, but I haven't really noticed. Pretty sure in the countdown difficulty menu it specifically says that the items will drop with heroic stats no matter the difficulty.
The time heroic takes with a random team can make it not worth IMO.
For me, I do not notice a major difference. But I do know on challenging. You can complete it faster, which equals earning more countdown resources, which, then equals by more exotic cashes. But that’s just my take.

Off topic but I was a Beta Div 1 & 2 player, put in probably 875 hours of Div 2 before stepping away after Warlords, played a little every once in awhile, but have been playing again over the past month & have 310 SHD but I'm hearing that Countdown is having issues with groups requiring the absurd "You've got to have at least 3000 SHD in order to play with us". I tried to play a week or so ago & couldnt match up. I didn't really try that hard to play but is this teally an issue?
That’s absolutely ridiculous. No, it is not required in any way shape or form. I recommend starting your own countdown group that way you cannot be kicked.
I never played Countdown; I'm only at SHD 365. What skills should be used?
Riot Foam Chem Launcher, Oxi Chem Launcher, Sticky Bombs so bascially anything that can't be hacked by the hunters

I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Haven’t seen that happen. Let me see what I can find out.
If you see a Hardcore player in with you, try your hardest to pick them up if they go down, since they would lose their character with a death.

@HusbandOfManyWives1776 When you start a "Hardcore Mode" character, the character only has a single life. You can go into a downed state where you are bleeding, but you can be picked up by a friend or revive hive, but if you bleed out all the way, you lose the character and all associated gear forever. That's true for story mode, endgame, and countdown. Countdown is the only game mode in DIV 2 where Hardcore and Non-Hardcore characters can play together.

My problem lately is challenging and heroic queues are not popping off ever. I sit in queue for 30 minutes. No groups on PC.
In Asia server I’ve never had to wait longer than 5 seconds to find a group on PC.
for me, pc takes forever, but xbox is damn near instant
Is it a real difference between challenging and heroic for exotic farming?
Yes, heroic has higher drop rate but you can run more games in challenging and buy exotic caches faster

Heroic also has more enemy spawns so you can farm more items to level expertise quickly, after your 100th exotic cache your gonna want more stuff to focus on
Do you know the drop rates are boosted for exotics and if so the rates?
I don’t know the exact rates, but your chances are higher on heroic than challenging. However, you can usually clear challenging, much faster which equates to earning more resources, which you can then spend at the countdown vendor to buy exotic cashes.
You can also set targeted loot in Countdown. I find exotics drop more often when targeting ARs, but this is by no means fact.
I can’t believe I didn’t mention targeted loot lol. I realize that like two minutes after I posted the video. That’s actually the entire point of tomorrow’s videos talking about targeted loot in the game.

I just started playing again. I need to get higher level weapons so I can do count down and not get destroyed everytime.
I did this yesterday and in one particular group i was left alone on my 4 players group and the others went gung-ho like and also NO exotic drop on my 7 runs different runs

And don't Leroy Jenkins into extraction and die instantly! Some make a beeline for extraction (especially if extraction is >100m away), leaving some of us unable to change to our extraction build because other team members are already engaging

I’m telling you, just follow everyone else. No one actually follows the leader. There is a set routine that most agents just go by.
What's funny is that Countdown still isn't on my map, and i have to actually go to the matchmaking screen to play it. So if y'all dont see it on your map, just go to the matchmaking screen.

Same thing as me. I am a returning player and I’ve never done the power plant manhunt general forgot his name. The one that gives you doctor home exotic. I suspect it has something to do with that?

Why do you run this on challenging instead of heroic?
In my experience, I haven’t seen a huge difference in the quality of the gear, and more often than not. You will have no problems getting through each challenging run.
how do you target loot in the countdown?
You can hover over countdown mode on the map and you’ll see an indication on the bottom of the page on how to change your loot. Or you can open up your menu while you’re in countdown and choose it from there.

Funny you say that, I did have difficulty’s with bad squad ups and I legit all jokes aside play with my brothers, now I’ve been playing for months and months and months, I have mimento but ninja bike is not out there tutorial wise as all vids are from 1 year ago when season gave away. Now I played on dark zone with bag loot praying for a ninja, my brother had neither he was able to get both ninja and mimento in that same lobby whilst I picked up 3 ninja knee pads (already had! All 3 times I got them!!) another reroll Acosta bag, and a pestilence, this game is severely unfair to me my RNG is so bad and I’ve bought the game 3 times and bought the same season twice!! I’m sincerely thinking of a new character but I don’t wana have to do All my work all over again.. aware that shd levels carry and could boost to 30 but I like the idea of my first character being my main character.. dunno what to think of this game done so many challenging runs of countdown and yet. If I get a exotic.. if any while target loot is bags, it’s all gold gear, horrible stats, and occasional exotic and is always a reroll or not what I’m looking for

Since this video dropped, I have only been able to complete one countdown run successfully. Skill builds are not viable in countdown. EVERYONE needs to run a revive hive. The HUNTERS are the main priority at the extraction. I realize that they hide,but they should always be killed first

I avoid VIP and Eliminate hostiles as much as possible. They take a lot of time

If you’re gear farming, why not go to the highest difficulty? I was under the assumption that you would get way better chances on god roll gear doing it that way
Yes, you always want to farm in the highest difficulty possible typically. The problem with heroic countdown is that unfortunately many times you can’t find a group that can make it all the way through. So you wind up missing out at the very end.
I wanna know why the hell the targeted loot on countdown is always pistols. Nobody wants that junk
You can change your targeted loot anytime you want. That’s the point. Pick what you want a farm for.

Lol. Oh no! When you look on your map hover over down. When you do so push down in the directional pad that will open up the targeted loot menu and that is how you choose the loot you want to farm for.
You should have mentioned how to actually target specific loot :(

@@TheGamingBrigadeTV I meant how to target specific loot during a countdown run. Theres a menu, when Countdown is marked, accessible from the world map for that purpose.

Some people have a new philosophy. Serious players take responsibility for their own revivals. That means NOT waiting for someone else to revive them - exceptions are when the subteam is weak, with one superior player, and the superior takes a risk to distract the hunter out of position. But someone who goes down in the two sub-missions will get booted. That gives the other players nothing to worry about at the extraction. In my experience, you can clear the extraction with five people without much difficulty - you have to be aware of teammates strategies and support /protect them.
The amount of idiots that don’t read chat saying “DONT SHOOT A FLARE UNTIL 5 SECONDS,” but still do…..or they are trolls. It’s too bad post match it doesn’t tell you who shot a flare and allow a vote or something so that if it’s habitual they either can’t play countdown or they get a poor rating opposite of like answering backup calls. Would be another way to boot people pre match or know what kind of player they are. Everyone thinks being a troll is funny until theirs consequences.
There’s really no more that the game can do… it’s unfortunate that people do that…

I'm sorry to have a negative comment too.
You decided to make a videos for players unfamiliar with this mode. Thus few basic questions come to mind as:
- If we get killed can we jump back in once an objective is done ?
- If we get killed before extraction do we loose looted gear?
Make things simple, even in your old video talking about it you didn't mention these things. You're trying to make this video appeal to both expert players and new ones. You should stop trying that it's not a good idea.
