I switched from Fanatec Podium DD2 to the Asetek Invicta Wheelbase last year ... and i've never regretted it.

I upgraded my CSL DD 8Nm to an Asetek Invicta base, best purchase I have ever made for simracing. I have the 330mm round wheel with the Forte button box and I find the whole setup to be absolutely amazing. The quality of the force feedback is insanely good, way more power than anyone would ever need, and it is silky smooth while still incredibly responsive. Could not be happier!
I also bought their Invicta pedals. Hated them :P Ate a 20% restock fee when sending them back. Bought a set of SimGrade VX-Pro's instead which are MUCH better pedals and can be set up as soft or hard as you would like (even harder than the Invictas if you are crazy).

@@gnomemercycs5578 Yup, I was pretty pissed. Because you have to mount these to a rig to have any chance of actually feeling what they are like they deducted 20% of the value for them being used. Despite them having just been mounted, tested, unmounted, and carefully packed down again.

The rapid rise of Asetek was helped when they signed a licensing agreement with Granite Devices a few years back to assist with software and hardware design. Asetek also use the same Mige based motor and 22 bit encoder found in the Simucube Pro and Sport. The Invicta is an amazing wheel base. Best value there is today.

I have a Forte wheelbase. The detail of the feedback is incredible. You can feel all the handling characteristics of the car. After a few laps you can dial in the cars aerodynamics fairly accurately. Have used other DD's and none matched the detail of the Asetek.

Hey doc, was just looking through reddit for some info on the conspit hyrdaulic pedals and saw your post, did you ever end up uploading the video for these pedals? Just wondering since I am interested in buying them and wanted to know what you thought about them. Also glad to see the channel still growing, I havent really been on youtube as much but I still see your racing and flight posts on instagram

I haven’t uploaded them just yet, although I do still have them, (future upload pending)
They’re pretty good! They feel nice to use and the built in haptics are a bonus. I’ll try and get that review done very soon! I’ve been slow at the youtube for personal reasons but i’m slowly getting back to putting out semi regular content
I’m enjoying the flight stuff quite a lot, are you much into it?

So i did a thing. I bought twice and cried twice haha. Bought the dd+ due to reviewers hyping it up. Loved it but god that thing is notchy af. Still a great base very fast but the speed it hss feels springy not fast from forces or movement. Its like a fake speed. Something just felt slightly off. So I went forget it im getting my favorite looking wheelbase and wheels from sn ecosystem. So i got the simagic and i eent ultimate bevause im like well ive owend an alpha and i iwn a dd+ so why not just fo over 20nm. Thank god i bought this base its hands down my favoerite ive ever used. The center forces aremt dead weight its actually the ffb pushing it instesd of that extra dampening/inirtia that fanatec adds to there products. The feeling the simsgic has with 0 notches legit 0 the v3s are so buttery smooth eveb conpsred to my alphs was. And its so fast and snappy. The details are sos trong it goes trhough my entire rig at times and im so happy i got the 23nm ultimate. So yeah i bought twice and cried twice hahs. Im buying the fx pro today for my base. Need a nice f1 wheel and im so happy they have one of the best looking one out there in there ecosystem.
I know people say bases dont improve speed but i did i was making records for myself night 1 and consistent. There is s reason simagic has a very special loading and unloading feel when cornering and finding that limit of grip. Thats what helped me so much.
All i know is simagic needs to keep doing what they are. Its better then simagic from 3 years ago and they were good back then.
Maybe one day ill get a 3rd rig and get asetek haha but st rhe moment i have no urge because im in love wirh my stuff. I do have 2 full rigs now. One in the living room for guests aka the dd+ and one in my room I main the ultimate!
    Btw awesome review man!
Tbh all wheelbases are so good now i suggest people get whatever they like the look of most. Nobody is missing out on anything.
I msy go asetek one day once they change the style of there wheels themselves.
Also ive found i like 20+nm bases the extra speed ans snap they hsve from the torque is amazing. Even when running lower on game those spikes will be stronger due to the headeoom so when the whel snaps and yoy lose grip and catch it man oh man the corrections are just that much easier. I was testing it yesterday snd if you hold it lighter the wheel legit catches itself with the snap.
Also that case on the asetek base is not plastic just like the qr isnt plastic. I hate the paint they used because it has a texture to it and look making you rhink plastic lol.

Functionality and feature of the wheel and button plate are top-notch. The design and ergo is bad, handles are too slim, rim is too slim. Choice of color is poor. Wish they could make an all black wheel in aluminum instead of carbon fiber.

Trying to sell out and it fails...
The wheel is CFRP = Plastic and they ask almost double the price of what is worth it
The firmware is a very old version of the Simucube
The motor is the old Simucube 1, or basically the VRS but more expensive
The QR base side often breaks the pogo pins and now they even sell it as a replacement
Each QR wheel side costs ~140€ where the competition is half or even less (you can get nrg replicas that have good quality for 35€ each, that's 1/4 of the price)
You can't front mount without their own front mount
The slip rings have wear and very expensive to replace, even more when they do it through the shaft, Fanatec does it and they limited the rotation to increase longevity of the slip ring
Should i keep going? There are so many reasons to not buy Asetek that it just become ridiculous, the only brand that i wouldn't recommend anyone, even Fanatec is better and they are in the most shitty situation they could ever been...

Asetek MUST BE STOPPED!!! They will destroy the sim racing market.... No one ever heard of them and then all of the sudden they have sued every liquid CPU cooler manufacturer. Now they have a monopoly and the hardware is terrible. I have had to RMA BOTH the Lian Li and Corsair I have owned over the last 5 years. Asetek will do everything to attempt to patent technology and then sue everyone else to eliminate competition. This looks like them trying the same thing in Sim Racing.

    • @jonasclementdk
      @jonasclementdk 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

So uh... I Googled these lawsuits you mentioned. Both cases that came up (Corsair/CoolIT and Cooler Master), Asetek lost. From what I can tell there hasn't been one against Lian Li - only one that came up was Lian Li v. Phanteks over an RGB connector. So how is Asetek to blame for your Lian Li and Corsair gear falling apart again?
