    These rods were the bees knees at Catfish Con! We fitted one with a Kastking Caspain with Kastking braid. Looking to tear into a biggun with it. I dig these specific catfish videos, mark!

    Bought a hobie outback from a fisherman who caught 40lb catfish. He gave me this 6’ slime cat with the kayak. I catch 20-50lb stripe bass, Do you think this will hold up?

    Rod looks great. I do see one problem, for Casting rods the rod seat needs to be flipped. It needs to thread down not up.
    When the threads are on the bottom your hand is on the threads and nut every time you cast. Also the more you handle the area of the clamp when on the bottom it will come loose.

    All I am wainting is the tip action, not seeing it but thanks for the review.

    • @CatfishandCrappie
      @CatfishandCrappie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a HEAVY rated rod so the tip action is stiffer then I like for anchor or bank fishing. If you do those you might want to consider a Med/Heavy with a "fast" tip. Cheers and thanks for watching!

    • @CatfishandCrappie
      @CatfishandCrappie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These probably wont be good for bass. They are heavy action Rods. For a good bass rod you can't go wrong with a Fenwick or St Croix IMHO ;)

    How do you like the rod I know you mentioned it’s heavy which is something I don’t really like

    • @CatfishandCrappie
      @CatfishandCrappie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. After using it now I feel it's to heavy for bank fishing or anchor fishing with braid. Mono might give it some of the "play" it needs for circle hook sets. It casts like a stiff rod too (lacking that "slingshot" action needed for distance). I personal like a stiff backbone with a FAST tip. This one is stiff from end to end. I think it would be great for suspending/drifting baits from a boat IMHO. These opinions are for this specific weight rod not the whole Slimecat lineup. I know they have longer and lighter weight rods in their lineup. I hope this helps my friend! Happy Fishing and keep kicking butt!!!

      Catfish and Crappie what weight do u prefer medium heavy or xtra medium heavy and the website is legit right

    • @CatfishandCrappie
      @CatfishandCrappie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ANDREW FLAIR ANDREW FLAIR I like heavy rods with fast tips when anchored for flatheads. Tbh I don’t know what exactly they mean by a extra medium heavy rod. I need to see one which I have not. I have heard no bad things about their site. I ordered mine from there. I know they do run low on stock but that’s because of orders. For channel cats I use medium rods. I hope that helps.

    How do you fish from a boat without a rod holder

    • @CatfishandCrappie
      @CatfishandCrappie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personal don't, but you can lay the rod on the gunnel and watch for bites. You can also go Old School and just hold on to the rod too! In South America they wrap the line around their big toe so they know when they have a bite! ;) Happy Fishing!!!

The 7'-6" fits in the bed of my truck diagonally and allows for decent distance when casting. When it comes down to it ,it's all a personal preference. I hope this helps. Happy Fishing!
