Don’t keep it in the box. Life is too short. Pretend to be the Mafia boss and wear it everyday 😎… ofcourse know your surroundings while wearing for safety’s sake. The box may not be as cool as yours, but I have the 228238. It’s only a couple of years old but it’s covered in light scratches and patina. I like it better this way because it’s less blingy. I wear it as much as I can, even on holiday to the beach. It even has a tiny chip in the edge of the crystal around 6 o’clock, which I don’t know how happened. 😅 Good buy! Nice watch! 👍❤️🤩
I have a 1987 one, looks just like yours but mine has a diamond dial. I love it. Still looks beautiful and every time i wear it i get compliments on it. I remember when the bracelet was taunt like yours now it has a little slack but still looks good. Yours looks super awesome too.
Just wear it man, it’s all in your head. I have a platinum wedding band but love the look of yellow gold. That would never stop me from getting a gold day date. Enjoy it!
I have a 1996 18238 absolutely unabused and like the day it left the factory. Agree with all you said about finding the right one. Pay the extra don't buy a beaten up version to save a couple of grand. I have black Batern Dial in the best condition I could find. Get the right one guys don't rush it
A beautiful example. Wow you are a very lucky person. In one in 10,000 condition, and with the original box, papers and tags!? It must have been in a safe or something for years and the person has since died. An E serial is from 1990, so it is 34 years old now. I've never seen an example like it. Thank your lucky stars because your boat has well and truly come in! Last check for you to do is hold the Rolex certificate up to the light and make sure you can see the Rolex coronet watermarks, which I'm sure will be there. Don't part with it whatever you do. I'm 71 and I never even saw one like this in my life up to now, and yes I have owned a few steel Rolex watches myself.
This is the nicest 18238 I've seen, looks pristine and unworn. Congrats (and subscribed). I am looking for a 18238 in similar condition to complete my collection. Cheers!
Just an investment unless you wear it, I just bought the same watch not as nice as yours that for sure I looked hard for a mint state piece only had 20k I am very pleased with my watch that watch you bought was 25 to 30k at least I never seen one in that condition, beautiful piece Thank You for the look.
Thinking of buying an 1803 1977 from the same store you bought from. Any advice or tips to look for? Great video btw…..it inspired me to start looking for my dream watch as well! Thank you
Glad you got some inspiration from my video! I'd say do a google search for 1803 Unworn/Unpolished, so you can get a real sense of what the watch looks like from the factory. Then compare that to the watch offered at EWC or any other place. Best of luck!
👏🏻 Great video ‼️ I am a stick indices man as well. Beautiful watch👍🏻 looks good on your wrist. Perfect size. I have some other interests, but I was thinking of eventually asking our friend about the 40 mm yellow gold black dial stick indices DD down the road.
Nice piece, looks good ! I would put that watch in "the Fun", my collection segment that houses an Aqua Terra and a black Milgauss. Looks nice as a weekend piece, but not easy to wear I guess. I would never wear a full gold DD as a dress piece. I have a 36 mm DJ in "the Legacy" segment, but that's the one of my father, with Rolex recognition engraving.
A bit late to the unboxing Diego -wow, you have immaculate taste & landed an iconic mobster museum piece. Perfect watch - what a find. Can I ask how often do you think you wear it? you see I'm considering one.
@@TheRealOriginalDiegoM Wow until you pull the trigger & wear one that's when you know how it makes you feel. My Milgauss is my favorite watch of all time. Thanks, man
HEY! I don't know if you remember me but I commented on your video unboxing the patek you bought at retail (I think you deleted that video). I was intrested in your carrer and said I was trying out the stock market. Anyways, since then which was about 4 months ago, I have achived a 8% gain! I love your vids and hope to be in a spot in life where I can afford a watch collection like yours!

Hands down best unboxing video on TH-cam of a champagne dial DD! I disagree with you however, I think this watch suits you PERFECTLY, looks phenomenal on your wrist

Looking at getting the same watch, but not as knowledgeable as you are. I’d also like to find one in original, great condition. What are things I should look for? How can I tell if a watch has been polished? Would appreciate any and advice on things to look for, and if you could get me pointed in the right direction for my search. Absolute beauty of a watch. Thanks
Had my gold day date for 15 years now. Bought it new from my AD. It was actually my first Rolex back in the day when they stocked them and you could walk in and get a discount. Its a beautiful watch but have to say I hardly ever wear it and have come close to selling it. I have so little suitable opportunities to wear it and it just stands out way to much. Attracts the wrong sort of attention I'm afraid so its become a safe queen.
I really agree it’s difficult to wear, and finding the right occasion…few and far between. Maybe it will be my summer watch. We shall see. Thanks for commenting and watching!
@@TheRealOriginalDiegoM Summers even more of a problem Diego. Its a real no no with a short sleeve shirt or Polo. I've found the only way to wear it is with a long sleeve shirt or suit where its visible maybe 5% of the time. Otherwise its just too much in people's faces. Its either the wrong type looking at it or the jealous type. I do enjoy wearing it round the house tho🤣
Even the green caseback sticker is in very good condition. Overall, it's somewhat of a NOS daydate. Congrats. From my perspective, the daydate president and pearlmaster (discontinued) are the pinnacle of Rolex.
I just can’t believe the shimmer of that bezel. It’s dazzling. When they get rounded off they look so sad. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but not too much. Congrats Diego. It’s a true beauty and it does fit you perfectly. Small wrist club unite. Did rewind the day date change a couple of times 🤌🏻🤌🏻

I have been on the hunt for a Patek 5167 but was thinking of switching gears to a F.P. Journe Elegante. What are your thoughts on the brand and do you plan of acquiring any of their watches?
My pleasure. I check their site daily to see if they have anything that peaks my interest. If I were you, I’d go for the 5167. It’s timeless. FPJ (as beautiful as they are) may come out of fashion. It really comes down to what can you see yourself wearing daily, and in 30 years.
