    Best LIPO basics video i found after a painful hour of overly technical premadonna battery geeks who couldn't even tell me what the C or S meant. Thanks guys now i know what i need!

    I only missed energy density and power density.

    S stands for the number of cells in a 'series' that makes up the pack.

    So you can't have too many c for a small motor?

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  ปีที่แล้ว

      As I understand it, the higher the C-rating, the better. The batter won't overheat, or be near its limit, and the motors/ESCs will only pull what current they need, so the higher C-rating can't do any harm to them.

    "S" stands for "cell". Any more dyslexic spellings we need to know about?

    • @6977warrior1
      @6977warrior1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      These 2 morons have no idea what the designations mean. The 'S' means series. The 3 means the number of cells in series. If you (rarely) see a 3P, it means 3 cells in parallel. A LiPo cell is usually 3.7v, so 3S is an 11.1 v battery.

    • @Paul-yu4ep
      @Paul-yu4ep 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      They actually said that 3S means 3 cells in series.

    • @erwinsetiawan3792
      @erwinsetiawan3792 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes, i think so, the said "s = number of cells" no "s stands for cells", check in 2.28, they actually said number of cells wired in series.

    I ordered a 14.8 volt 5200 mah .Zeee 4s batt. It was delivered but has 5 wires and a ground on the balance wires. Do you think it 4s or did they send me the wrong one ? I thought 14.8 volt was 4s. I wonder why it has the bigger connector and 5 plus ground balance wires

    I saw some 1S batteries they write HV on it (high voltage?) with 3,8 V (Happymodel) or 4,35 V (BetaFPV). So these can be charged to a higher Voltage ? Not 4,2 V but higher ? BetaFPV has a graphic where you can see the voltage starts at 4,35 V

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct. 4.35v is the high voltage level for those HV lipos, rather than 4.2v.

    Question....I have a 4s battery, says 14.8 volts as it should (its a dynamite reaction 2, 5000 mAh, 50c) Anyway, the storage voltage should be 3.85 x 4, or 15.4 volts....correct? I just dont understand why the storage voltage is higher than the 14.8 volt rating of the battery?

    Alright I got a little confused I have an r c boat that runs on
    2 2s batteries that are 7.4V and 4200mah
    But they say that I can run a 4s only 1of them.. why not 2? Also the 4s is a 8000mah and 14.8
    Would the 4s last longer? Or give it more speed?
    I'm just a little confused because if i'm running 2 of the 2s thats 8400mah combined.. that would last longer wouldnt it?.. just alittle confused

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't want to use a 4S if it's only rated for a 2S, it will fry the ESCs or motor. "S" is cells and yes, a 4S is more powerful than a 2S. The mAh is milliamp hours. It has to do with how long it will run. You can change the mAh as long as you stick with the same "S" number.

    thank you for this. i wanted to ask. since im getting the x maxx 8s. now since its an 8s which you explained is 8 cells. so if im looking for a different brand since traxxas batteries are so expensive do i have to have a minimum of 8s and a minimum of some sort of amps? im just trying to find a variety of options to not have to buy traxxas batteries thats why.

    Hi,I have some doubts why is there a continuous spark when I try to connect my lipo battery (2200 mah 11.1 volt 3s 30c) to my esc (30a) and is it because of friction
    Second thing the battery i mentioned above also showed the voltage in negative when I checked it with my multimeter.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm. The negative voltage simply means that your multimeter leads are inserted backwards, but that's fine.
      I'm not sure about the sparks, though. That doesn't sound good!

      A lithium polymer battery, or more correctly lithium-ion polymer battery (abbreviated as LiPo, LIP, Li-poly, lithium-poly and others), is a rechargeable battery of lithium-ion technology using a polymer electrolyte instead of a liquid electrolyte. High conductivity semisolid (gel) polymers form this electrolyte. These batteries provide higher specific energy than other lithium battery types and are used in applications where weight is a critical feature, like mobile devices and radio-controlled aircraft.

      That error was killing me as well. Especially when he picked up a 3s battery with 6 cells and said that it had 3 cells. Personally I think referring to battery packs by an "S" number is a disservice. Just refer to them with a nominal voltage. If you must use an "s" rating, at least use XsXp...Oh well. Overall this is a great video for beginners, even with aforementioned error it is beneficial.
