Update: I ended up doing the high bun with the scarf wrapped around, it was really cute. I also did my edges for the first time, turned out pretty good.

Cultural appropriation is a problem pretty much in USA and north america only. I got my braids done just 3 days ago and me and the hairstylists talked about the topic of braids+white people and cultural appropriaton a lot. They said they don't feel hurt or anything, they feel quite flattered too when they see someone embracing a different culture (they're congolese living in italy)
But in USA, considering the history, it's understandable that people are very conservative about their traditions
