At this rate, 80/20 videos are going to be 80% intro and 20% lessons.
Which is fine because this intro is probably the best you've ever done, Nate. 👍
right!? wasn't this great?
I’ve never have the courage to practice chops. But this video motivated me. I’m going to give this a try. And obviously will start working my left hand lol. Thanks!
it's not a courageous act.. believe me.. just like everything start slow and work up - it's just playing patterns with the FFW button stuck - think of interpolating double the amount of notes you would normally lay down in a particular tempo - try listening to those old Jungle records.. which are essentially 68 bpm grooves in the bass line but with a drum track wedged in there at double that tempo hence fitting perfectly - many of these grooves were lifted from those programmed records.. intentionally? I'm not sure but subconciously for sure.
“I’m going to show you how to chop…”
Perfection.
Not only is your drumming skill more helpful than I have words for, your comedic delivery makes these videos a pleasure to watch.
And when I’m happy & laughing, I’m learning. Just tell your “legal department” to back off!😂😂
Chop Chop
3:35 Yeah, holy shit.
Pridgen following
watching his hands, while thinking *chops*
I had never thought about the term, as being descriptive of the type of motion
... sounds freaking great Nate
i used to roll my eyes at my friends that were into "chops", because of that one bar of pedestrian hip hop beat that was used as filler between the 2-4 bars of super colorful chops and how that more or less seemed to place emphasis on their lack of time/groove because time/groove being used as a pedestrian filler beat to set up the chops and made the whole rhythmic statement feel like one gigantic run on sentence and this video made me laugh. ........run on sentence. :P
This was great. Super educational and entertaining. Love your sense of humor. Thank you!!
Awesome chop Nate!
Awesome, man. Thanks for the c-p. keep killing it, my friend.
Thanks for making this content bro. So helpful.
Interestingly enough, I’ve been curious why you went with such dry cymbals - albeit, they sound great and you’re happy with them. Now, I understand. Your hats absolutely sang in this video.
Great video Nate. I have been playing with something wert similar recently. I have been playing with the paradiddle-diddle, double paradiddle and six stroke rolls substituting my K in place of a R or L. Sometimes I substitute a HH foot and have been having fun with it. This shall fit nicely with what I am already working on. Thanks for the content Nate.
Like a lot the way you explain!! Thanks
This is so great and so clear and it sounds amazing. Damn. 😍
Holy crap that’s cool!
Man, what a great improvement in showmanship (or whatever its called, i'm mexican so i'm allowed to butcher words) F*ck the lick itself, this video rocks with great vibes and energy. Love it Nate, keep this going.
Greetings and congratulations!
LMFAOOOOOOO I love that you kept the missed crashes in fuck that got me
This was so good I just busted out laughing. Cheers
Dope bro!
aw shucks. thank you, sir!
I’m going to try this on guitar. It will be in my new single. ‘Chopped Salad’
So those are odd groupings if 5 played on the 32nd note grid? Or are they actual 5’s?
Fantastic tutorial on how to master the drum chop technique! Your clear instructions make it easy to follow along and improve drumming skills. We sent you an email, we would love to connect and collaborate with you.
God! That rack sowndz great!!
Read the episode summary 😂😂😂
2:45😂
what's the tune pridgen playing over at 3:35?
I think it’s just a jam the rhythm players invented for the session
@@8020drummer won't stop me from stealing it lol
LOL
Sarah looks like she doesn't know what she's doing but thrilled with what's happening... who's Sarah ? 😅
sarah knows what she's doing. trust me.
@@8020drummer gotcha - but who's Sarah?
@@SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 somebody who's only a "sarah drums" youtube search away ;)
@SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 Nate will get mad at me if I tell you, but here's a hint... Sarah tHOW?ler
In no way was I bagging on her or her potential skill - it was the vibe of the video it looks like she's been sat down into a drum thrown randomly and was taken for a rhythmic ride by some unseen force - just the expression on her face - but I've seen magicians do that same reaction while showcasing a trick 😎.. peace.
Do audiences really like “chopping”? Seems like people are grooving and dancing to a cool beat then the drummer throws his kit down a staircase interrupting the flow.
It is not meant for dance gigs but rather spotlights or original compositions or jazz jams
@@magohipnosis I NEVER hear “chopping” in those contexts. It’s ALWAYS pop music.
😂😂 "throws his kit down a staircase"
dammit i'm gonna forever associate chopping with this phrase now, THANKS A LOT!
"you want that right? Okaaay" Joe biden impression ✔check... noticed and disappointed a drum video reminded me of that fool
Obviously.. one can never have too many tasties in their spice drawer
The shedding sessions..no matter how tight/clean
get silly and tiresome
quick.
