    Hi guys, the spongy bread egg thing in the Laksa is TOFU (fried). There are a few ways i love TOFU, fried & soaked in Soy Sauce/Vinegar & Garlic. & at a Chinese Dim Sum they have Hot Sweet Soft Tofu! & 2 types of Tofu at PF Changs! My congrats to Angel for trying different foods, I'm wondering what you guys ate in Manila (other tha Jollie Bee!!!)

    I spent a week in Jakarta around 15 years ago. I loved all the different foods I tried. The martabak manis was one of my favorites. I made it at home once but it wasn’t as good as the street vendor in Indonesia. I always have a bottle of ketcap manis in my kitchen now, along with some sambal.

    Salivating watching this!! U guys are awesome at finding local favourites!
    Just to answer some queries:
    Bak kut teh - garlic not onion. Its usually boiled together with the broth for the flavor.
    Laksa- fried tofu for the spongey stuff, helps soak up the broth so you get a better flavor on the tofu when you bite into it. And yes! Those are cockles!! :)
    Wanton mee- mee you pronounce it as (me) which actually means noodles in hokkien( a dialect). The meat inside the dumplings are usually pork.
    Black pepper crab - YUMMMSSS!!!!
    You did a great job at pronouncing most of the local dishes correctly! Thumbs up!!

    So enjoy watching you two try new dishes! You need to find the places where the locals eat. That way you will be able to find the food more reasonably priced and with larger servings. You will definitely find the prices a lot different than the more touristy locations! That was why we are hoping you will be able to hook up with Mikey Chen. He can help you find the better locations to eat as well as introduce you to foods you have never had before...and want to try.

    IMHO the spongy thing is best described as Tofu Puff. It is made from fried tofu and its spongy texture makes it a vehicle to soak up gravy and soup, and is used somewhat like croutons.

    You have to give your food reviews the plush time wins symbol for ratings. Angel loved the crab the most so four plush time win symbols. Whatever you didn’t like the least, one or two plush time wins symbols. Great video and food review as usual!❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • @raki9131
    @raki9131 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yup. I agree that some Bandung does taste like perfume. But it really depends on which rose syrup they uses, usually the cheap ones have perfume like taste. For DIY ones while you’re in Singapore, you have to buy the “T.G Kiat” Rose syrup. Tht’s the king of all rose syrup. 😂 Add with Evaporated Milk, you’ll get the best Bandung ever.
    Anyways hope you enjoyed Singapore! ☺️

    Laska is technically an Asian style of kaphoon. Laska and kapoon are the same thing, and they tend to have a sour-spicy taste to it. So that is all you need to know about Laska. (In fact, my family makes homemade Laska.)
