In about 1970 I had a snorkel with a ping pong ball in a little cage atop my snorkel. That acted as my check valve. It was really kool. No water when I would dive down at the cottage. Loved it.
Advanced Scuba Diver...any mask, including fog resistant, I always scrub the inside lens with toothpaste. Rinse, then, before you go into the water, a little saliva rubbed on the inside, your mask will be fog free no matter how deep you go. By the by, nice video brother!

When you dive down you usually want to take the snorkel tube out because it keeps the airway open and for anti-fog use soap and water in a spray bottle
Are you saying remove the mouth piece from your mouth when you go under? That is the very first time I've ever heard anyone say this! And as for soap water, I'll give it a shot sometime :)
I don't plan on buying a snorkel any time soon but I do enjoy watching your videos reviewing equipment. I live in the Arizona desert we don't have a clean body of water that would require me to purchase a snorkel. Love the sport miss doing it thanks for the videos just plain awesome.
GivesAMinute It's not too terribly far about 7 and a 1/2 to 8 hours drive to the nearest spot clear enough for snorkeling. I'm going to snorkel for sure at the end of summer on the salt river and look for people's lost treasure. Water should be a lot clearer then. Water is cloudy because of excessive inflow during summer months.
I just got the exact same snorkel and mask set, albeit in black and high vis yellow with BodyGlove branding on it (presumably wonice or whoever actually makes them does them for a few brands just changing up the colours and stencils). Hard to beat for the price. I paid $40 aud at Anaconda for the mask and snorkel set and another $39 for a matching set of fins. Keen to try it out on my trip to Vanuatu in a couple of weeks.

You need to apply dish detergent and spread it with your fingers on the glass. After that rinse it thoroughly. Dont put too much on because its going to irritate you on the nose and your eyes will hurt.

Any full dry top snorkel will restrict airflow, it's impossible to get a snorkel that will breathe as free as an open top one. Iv tested 25 or 30 different full dry top snorkels and all of them have that issue because it's a restricted opening. The best is one that's open at the top like a traditional one. Why fix it if it isnt broken
SuperSaiyanSteele I really like dry top snorkels because I love to dive down a lot, I’ve never had a problem with air flow, but I’m really young. Everyone has their preferences and that’s one of the cool things about this hobby. Snorkeling is one of those hobbies where everyone can have a great time with no real downsides besides the occasional sunburn but that’s awesome in my opinion. Have a good one!

Your snorkel can get dried out in the closet. You know what would help with that? Keeping it in a ziplock bag. The water exhaust vent seems like a good idea, but I'm not sure why you would need a seperate valve for the water and air. Just the water one would be enough and you would clear it every time you breathed out
Ive never seen a new mask not fog up and ive bought a fair share of dive masks,the best way use a oven long stem gas lighter onto the lens glass carefully to burn away the the chemicals on each lens on the dive mask.. It wont fog then,ull need to clean lens as leaves a residue,works every time. Bob the diver.

If you put a little spot of unscented shaving cream in your mask, this will help it not to fog. Also, at home when you shower, it works on the mirror also! Apply the shaving cream on the lens, then wipe it off with a dry cloth and enjoy fog freeness!
I'm playing underwater hockey and I gotta know 2 things about the snorkel. -Can I breath out under water with snorkel? -The top of the snorkel, the plastic part that stops the water going into your mouth, can scratch someone? It’s against the rules so if it can scratch someone I can’t use it. I hope to get an answer soon.
Hey Altan, cheers for the questions mate :) To answer both your questions, yes you can breathe out under the water through the snorkel no problems. The top of the snorkel is plastic, it's not hard but I also would not describe it as soft. From memory it's the same plastic as the tube itself (but just for clarity, I did give the set away at the end of the shooting this video so I am only going on the memory I have from using it for the one day).
I am surprised to see that they opted for the dark silicon rather then transparent for the mask since this is a product that appear to be also targeted towards beginners. Transparent silicone will let in more light and therefore feel less enclosed which has a positive psychological effect on reducing anxiety so is always the best choice for beginners. But I see that all people so far on Amazon have given these a 4-5 star rating which is good so seems like a good kit. Currently this is sold at half price, just $40 for the whole kit which is a great price! It is interesting to see yet another claimed to be anti fog product fog up on you... Conditions for fogging must be brutal down there in Australia this time of year. Would be really interesting too see you test an Aria Full face mask to see if it also fogs up on you. For me it is one of the first products that does not fog up on me not even in difficult environments such as Thailand and Turkey! You had a positive experience with the Seabeast AF90 so would be interesting if the Aria one could match it in this regard. I must say that girl seemd very happy to get the free set. Very nice to see that and you probably made her day!
You know I had not thought about the dark silicone and the psychological effect at all. Very smart thinking and now I am wondering why anyone would manufacture a mask from a dark colour! Thanks for pointing that out to me! And yeah the fogging thing was an issue but I agree, we do have warm waters here and it was 32° that day (air temp) too! As for reviewing the Aria mask I'd love to work with them sometime! And yeah Charlie was stoked to keep the mask! What a trooper!
My experience with masks, even if they say anti fog, you still need to give them a thorough cleaning before first use. I personally use kids toothpaste. Works great and only takes a second.
I heard someone that dive masks have a thin film of oil straight from the factory - it's a remnant from the manufacturing process. You need to get mask scrub and then apply an anti-fog.
For the spit to work properly you have to do it while the mask is dry no moisture. I heard you say that you wanted to try it out of the box but I have never had a mask that stays fog free without something like spit or anti fog.
I need these diving glasses, I like going underneath water a lot and I have sensitive eyes so I have to wear goggles but I wanna stay under for a while so I want something like this

Upon unboxing tempered glass needs to be treaded by flame or buffing. Sorry if I interneted too hard with my comment there. I'm on the hunt for a good snorkel and I'm finding all youtube reviews to be far too subjective or just pain uninformative.

If swimming is not your strong point I would recommend a regular mask like this one, not a full face mask. You will be safer and have a more enjoyable time if you are comfortable.
I know this is a really dumb question; but would someone please answer if you are underwater right and the valve has closed on the snorkel. Can you breath in the remaining air in the pipe or does it start to pull vacuum?
You can, but honestly it's like not even a mouth full. By the time you have sucked that small amount of air in the ball locks the top and you might as well have not bothered.

It totally depends on your preference. If you are looking for existing tech go with this one, if you are looking for modern, newly developed tech that is pushing the envelope within the industry definitely get a Power Breather.
Currently I'm using the full face snorkel mask but I'm having issues when I try to go deep the mask hugs my face so I struggle to breath. It's cool how the power breather you can go down deep Warter with bubbles coming out the snorkel.

There’s a fine film of silicone on lens. Take a bic lighter and hold flame fairly close to lens on inside and youll see the the fine coating burn away. Then put anti fog spray and rinse, never fog again…. You are welcome :)
Alexander Matthews It’s a technique when performed correctly you match the pressure inside your body to the pressure in the water surrounding you. The deeper you descend the more pressure continues to build up, so a constant equalization is needed.
No Nurya, you cannot breathe underwater with any snorkel. The moment you dive beneath the surface you cannot breathe air, unless the pipe is massively long!

When you spit in the snorkel leave it once it has been rubbed in for at least 5 minutes if not more and it will be much more effective

Mate, I got this snorkel but found that the dry top severely restricted air flow. Pity cos I really loved the idea.

You would have to not use your snorkel for a LONG time for it to dry out the way you have indicated.

First rule of freediving, never dive with a snorkel in your mouth. If you blackout you will inhale water through it and probably die.

every mask have a small film in on the glass, you need to either burn it with a lighter or use toothpaste

Good question. I would consider it low volume for sure, but without having tried it for free diving I couldn't 100% confirm it being suitable.

@@GivesAMinute Guppy, because there was no quality investigation into the product after your initial trial, nor comparison to other dry snorkels. Everyone spits in their masks. Upon unboxing tempered glass needs to be treaded by flame or buffing. Sorry if I interneted too hard with my comment there. I'm on the hunt for a good snorkel and I'm finding all youtube reviews to be far too subjective or just pain uninformative.
I make all my snorkel mask reviews as thorough as I can. This video is up there with the best snorkel mask videos I have made.
Did you breathe when you were completely under water, or did you have to hold your breath?
You cannot breath underwater. For that you need SCUBA.

If swimming is not your strong point I would recommend a regular mask like this one, not a full face mask. You will be safer and have a more enjoyable time if you are comfortable.

I know this is a really dumb question; but would someone please answer if you are underwater right and the valve has closed on the snorkel. Can you breath in the remaining air in the pipe or does it start to pull vacuum?
You can, but honestly it's like not even a mouth full. By the time you have sucked that small amount of air in the ball locks the top and you might as well have not bothered.

It totally depends on your preference. If you are looking for existing tech go with this one, if you are looking for modern, newly developed tech that is pushing the envelope within the industry definitely get a Power Breather.

Currently I'm using the full face snorkel mask but I'm having issues when I try to go deep the mask hugs my face so I struggle to breath. It's cool how the power breather you can go down deep Warter with bubbles coming out the snorkel.

There’s a fine film of silicone on lens. Take a bic lighter and hold flame fairly close to lens on inside and youll see the the fine coating burn away. Then put anti fog spray and rinse, never fog again…. You are welcome :)

Alexander Matthews It’s a technique when performed correctly you match the pressure inside your body to the pressure in the water surrounding you. The deeper you descend the more pressure continues to build up, so a constant equalization is needed.

No Nurya, you cannot breathe underwater with any snorkel. The moment you dive beneath the surface you cannot breathe air, unless the pipe is massively long!

It's really only up to personal tastes mate, you can have either and still have a good time snorkelling :)

Sounds like a poor fitting mask.
You can purchase prescription lens masks eliminating the need to wear eyeglasses.I have such a mask and it works great.
I use shampoo for antifog. Just apply a little bit and rinse it. 😊
