I like the way you showed how you prepped the plastic basket for the 2nd tree.
Great info on the sumac.
Zone 5, cool. I know, crazy weather.
The repotting of the two, Superb! Now all you need is a staghorn fern as an accent plant for the two.
I saw some at Ted's this past summer, I should have grabbed one. I do have a Black Rabbits-foot Fern that's doing well...
Nice root work to save the tree from root rot. Roots from what I can see look healthy still.
Thanks! Fingers crossed that they produce some finer roots
Your puppy dog is just trying to organize the rocks for you. Just being a helper.
He's a little racsal!
I think the pots you picked out for these 2 trees are nice and easy to use.
Lol they were all I had! I need to stock up on larger-sized pots and baskets
Nice to try something different to bonsai. Maybe in the spring you can take a cutting of the sumac from your yard and give it a try. The ones you bought will make nice specimen bonsai trees for you.
Yes I am definitely going to get some good cuttings or suckers from them. I'm hoping I can eventually get them to produce the flower-fruit clusters
Foist!
