This has been my favourite SYTYCD routine and gives me goosebumps to this day. Too many favourite moments but if I had to pick one, it is the reverse leap at 1:01.
omg i have no knowledge of dance nor have i ever been taught dance, and like i never knew i could visualize something or feel anything from some1 dancing, and i actually felt something during this. I'm so glad my friend told me about this :)
Falling Slowly Watch the film called Once with actors/singers/composers Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova This song plays a huge part in the film and every song in the film is amazing.
@maryamoutlaw101 agreed when the song goes you have "suffered enough at war with yourself" it gets lost nice dance but could have been more if the message completely came across if they got lost in the dance and weren't just dancing for the cameras thats what separates a good performance from a spectacular one.
I don't know you, but I want you All the more for that Words fall through me and always fool me And I can't react And games that never amount To more than they're meant Will play themselves out Take this sinking boat and point it home We've still got time Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice You've made it now Falling slowly, eyes that know me And I can't go back And moods that take me and erase me And I'm painted black Well, you have suffered enough And warred with yourself It's time that you won Take this sinking boat and point it home We've still got time Raise your hopeful voice, you had a choice You've made it now Take this sinking boat and point it home We've still got time Raise your hopeful voice, you had a choice You've made it now Falling slowly, sing your melody I'll sing it loud Oh Only love survive the fall
So I understand why people get so annoyed with the audience noise level because it is distracting for viewing, but just stop for a second and think about how AMAZING it makes the dancers feel...
@MrJarred1992 If I remember right (and I'm not entirely sure that I am), it was about two strangers who had a "love at first sight" moment that wasn't destined to work out because her feelings for him aren't as strong as those he has for her. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. ;)
@biitemyswagg1 : if I remember correctly, I think it was about two strangers that have an accidental meeting and their chemistry- and then having to deal with that temptation of that. "strangers in love" kinda thing
i think the dance did the song justice but i think the message wasnt being conveyes because that girl kept smiling! idk it just seemed like she threw the whole point of the dance out of wack with all that happiness in her face. but omg their chemistry was undeniably incredible!
@toldeo419 Haha Yeah I danced for 13 years until my knees got to bad and I had to choose between dance and school. And there was way too many sad endings! lol I would always be like come on!
@countrygirl41296 I thought it was his daydream of what could be. She's just a stranger but that's why he wants her. She doesn't leave him in the end, because he never had her. If he did, like his dance, he'd never let her go.
I respectfully disagree. This dance is about a girl who is falling in love with a stranger. Karla was able to show a person who was vulnerable and thankfully she had Jonathan as a great partner. Then there are these moments of her realizing that she is on this path and that she has to focus on her own journey. The song is so full of hope and at the same time it really is able to break your heart. I think she was able to celebrate the spirit of it.
@victoriah07 My boyfriend and I do randomly break into dance - we both do swing dance, jazz, and other ballroom dances. It's wonderful - you should teach your man!
i dont really like the end where she walks away...theres something about that part that seems kinda wierd or off.... =/ maybe its the acting at the end...im having trouble buying it. but the rest off the dance is wonderful. =)
@maryamoutlaw101 I think the smiling made it all the more sweeter. Ever blush before, that's the feeling that I was getting from her. Believe me, I hate smiling where it does not belong, however I think it belongs in this dance...
The chemistry in this piece is....indescribable.
This has been my favourite SYTYCD routine and gives me goosebumps to this day. Too many favourite moments but if I had to pick one, it is the reverse leap at 1:01.
Stacey Tookey. You are amazing.
one of the most underrated pieces ever from SYTYCD!!!!!!
I like the idea of the tenderness in the dance.
I love that when he tilts her chin up, you hear someone in the audience go "Aw"
i know that they judges liked this dance, but i wanted them to praise this dance! I always, always thought this dance was amazing!
i swear i would pay to come watch those two dance once again

The chemistry is just amazing!
it was a beautiful piece. Very loving and yet so heartbreaking.
I've mocked this dance at my studio . In front of about a thousand people.
Love it sooo much.
I love it all except the very end! Some romances do end happily choreographers! haha
This dance goes very well with this music. Well done to the dancers who gave a polished ( I thought) performance.
omg i have no knowledge of dance nor have i ever been taught dance, and like i never knew i could visualize something or feel anything from some1 dancing, and i actually felt something during this. I'm so glad my friend told me about this :)

All the more for that
Words fall through me and always fool me

And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
And moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
Well, you have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice, you had a choice
You've made it now
Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice, you had a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly, sing your melody
I'll sing it loud
Oh
Only love survive the fall
oommmmggggggggggggg i love thisiiisisisisisisiss!

Please cancel the background noise. It's annoying, distracting and in very poor taste
@BlinkinFirefly It was the first piece Stacey Tookey choreographed on SYTYCD
amazing!
GREAT MOVIE.."Once"...see it.
@SarahLee1 I know what you mean, but sometimes I wonder if the dancers take encouragement from hearing some cheering along the way
Muito bom!
soooooo amazing :)
Very pretty dance

Stacey Tookey! She's mainly from SYTYCD Canada.
@SarahLee1 100% agree.
sometimes i wish me and my boyfriend would randomly break into a dance...just like this.
shame he cant dance (:
@toldeo419 Haha Yeah I danced for 13 years until my knees got to bad and I had to choose between dance and school. And there was way too many sad endings! lol I would always be like come on!
1:07 - 1:11 i want him to hold me like that!
Anyone know where i can watch vids of so you think you can dance season 1? that was my fave.
@Aprinsa Are you kidding me? This is the original by Glen Hansard . . . You really don't know what real passion in singing is, do you?
xxx
I wish they would have used the original song - it's so much more romantic, especially with Marketa Irglova.
1:07 is the best part
Amazing :') ... Whats the music to this video?
@1000erey2 No it was season 5.
@Katey4ever9 hey this is the song eric used for his skool
@countrygirl41296 I thought it was his daydream of what could be. She's just a stranger but that's why he wants her. She doesn't leave him in the end, because he never had her. If he did, like his dance, he'd never let her go.
@breathingearth No problem. :]
@honjlh thanks!
funny video when u keep pausing and playing!!!!
who is the choreographer for this number? travis wall? mia michaels? or somebody else?
Agreed. What also takes the emotion from it is her expression.. It's all fake and smiley and just doesn't mach with the song and choreography

whats the story of the dance? or is it just romance:)
what is this piece about???
why does she leave at the end??? :( what is the story behind this dance?
what is the story behind this dance?
who are those people?
who choreographed this?
Maybe Im wrong but this dance for some reason made me think of Pocahontas and John smith.
stacey did, but shes a stable choreographer now on the us show.
@BSMART18 thanks! :)
i ask for someone to politely explain this dance to me....it was beautiful, but i dont understand...
there are better performances... but this was cute
I think it was Stacey Tookey
i dont really like the end where she walks away...theres something about that part that seems kinda wierd or off.... =/ maybe its the acting at the end...im having trouble buying it. but the rest off the dance is wonderful. =)
I want the audience to shut up and try to UNDERSTAND the dance.
@maryamoutlaw101 I think the smiling made it all the more sweeter. Ever blush before, that's the feeling that I was getting from her. Believe me, I hate smiling where it does not belong, however I think it belongs in this dance...
choreographer??
