    Hi Mike, great update. We’re flying out on Monday, staying in Costa Teguise. Although we travel a lot, it’s our first time in Lanzarote. Looking forward to it.

    Love the channel, we have been coming to Lanzarote for the last few years, last year I think it was busiest I’ve seen in July. But it’s great to see. We are back again July but have never came over the winter but I’m looking to come December too. Love the island feels like home when we are there..

    Good morning Mike, thanks for your regular news update as usual very informative . We had a terrific time in lanzarote over the Christmas and New year period visiting family. We really enjoyed the fun fair in Arrecife plus the drone aerial display,not forgetting the three Kings parade.
    Happy New year to you and your Wife.

    Just came across your channel and found it very informative . We have been holidaying in Lanzarote for many , many, years generally in December however, when we last visited in 2022 to Matagorda we said we didnt think we would return because of the general attitude in bars and restaurants making us feel our custom wasnt wanted or, needed. Would like to think things have changed for the better in which case I might be enticed back .

    • @LanzaroteInformation
      @LanzaroteInformation  5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      How unusual. The most common thing I hear from our readers is that they keep coming back to the island because of the service and the warm welcome they get in the bars and restaurants.

    1st stepped foot in Lanzarote in 2009 and have been coming 2/3 times a year ever since. I have noticed a huge increase in tourists since 2009.

    • @LanzaroteInformation
      @LanzaroteInformation  4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, in 2009 we had only 1.7 million visitors, it was the worst year of the recession. It jumped to 2 million in 2011, and 3 million in 2017.

    I have been coming to Lanzarote since 2016, i feel it has got busier. Its harder to find private apartments than it was. the ones we like get booked up well in advance sometimes up to a year in advance. Also like everywhere else its getting more expensive.

    Thanks again Mike.
    I was interested in your comments on the e-scooter assault.
    Last month when I was on the walkway heading to the airport, a young man nearly collided with me as he veered off the cycle path at speed, while looking at his phone.
    I did manage to sidestep him, but he still brushed past me, and to say I was shocked at this is an understatement.
    I shouted at him, along with two other men present, to stay on the path, but he sped on.
    My point is that these scooters should be speed restricted, as he was absolutely racing along, and he could have dealt me a serious injury.
    I’m aware that there have been really serious accidents caused by the speed of these things.
    Do you think there should be a move to restrict the speed of these menacing scooters?

    The peak demand on Lanzarote is c. 170MW and installed generating capacity is c. 250MW, with some 235MW provided by the fossil powered Punta Grande station. Less than 10% of capacity is from renewables, with plans for a new 3MW wave installation planned for the north and a 50MW off shore wind farm (Este Marine). The solar farm you mention is just 1MW . For those interested, a Watt is the unit of power, i.e., Energy per time ( analogous to speed which is distance per time). Thus a 100W bulb uses 100 units of energy (Joules) per sec. kW is a thousand Watts, Mega = million, Giga = billion etc. A kWh is a measure of Energy = kW x the time over which it is used ( analogous to Distance = Speed x time). Thus, energy stored in a battery or electrical or thermal energy used at home and billed is measured in KWh. Regards Rik

    Excellent, as always. Re the assault, I would never condone violence in any form I’m always surprised more people aren’t injured by bikes/scooters etc because of the number of people I see aimlessly wandering into the cycle lane on the PdC strip. The strip has improved so much in the 25 years we’ve been coming to PdC but, as always, many improvements inevitably lead to some downsides one of which is there is now not enough room for a separate cycle lane along the strip. However, I’ll take the few downsides for all the improvements.

    Excellent informative videos. We spend a lot of time in Costa Teguise (homeowners here). Feel it's the forgotten resort. The public toilet facilities - when open - are disgusting, and the whole place has a run down feel to it. Such a pity. Yes they are putting new lighting on the paseo and some of the palm trees are being looked after but the whole place feels shabby now. Do you know if there are plans to improve. The toilet facilities at Reducto are 5 star. I wouldn't even step inside facilities in CT. Plus the pavements are lethal in places.

    • @LanzaroteInformation
      @LanzaroteInformation  5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I agree with some of your points, but as a homeowner there, you need to be asking Ayuntamiento de Teguise about these issues. They have an obligation to share their current and future planning with you, as you pay IBI in the municipality.

      @@BrandyJ25 Search on our channel for Costa Teguise, and you can see lots of videos, many recent from there. It isn’t as bad as Katrina is suggesting, and several hundred thousand holiday makers have had a great holiday there over the last year. But there are some places that need work.

    If car drivers had the attitude of a lot of cyclists there would be a ,out of pedestrian deaths 😢 There is a sense of entitlement that is worrying, I had a cyclist try and hit me on an empty road however what he didn’t realise was that my part of the road was actually signed as pedestrian area. There is a definite attitude problem.
