just planted this one, very neat and beautiful winter red stems as well. Have you tried Skeeters Broom? It's also dense and narrow but apparently healthier...
I have seen skeeters broom but never got one. Could be on the shopping list!
I love the look of Shaina. Do you know how old this one roughly is?
Hi, I bought it two years ago 👍
Nice tree! My Acer Palmatum Shaina also has the short middlefinger on its leaves!
One I love for its small size and deep red colour 👍
Seen one today, thinking of getting one
Lovely tree!
What kind of soil do you use???
It’s a mix of half ericaceous compost and half John Innes no. 3 👍
Thanks! I have that same shaina but I use 7 parts pine bark mulch 2 parts potting soil 1 part coco coir and 1 part pumice. But I get a lot of fungus gnats. I used all purpose sand as top dressing and that seemed to help. I'm gonna try your mix on a sharp's pygmy japanese maple 👍thanks!!!
Which ericaceous compost do you use?
@@lbcsptany really
@@lbcsptit’s all compromise really, my mix in a small enough pot means they will last without me watering in mid summer. The nursery suppliers use a very free drainage mix like yours but water daily 👍
