Prof, I never knew you personally, but your works and writings have impacted me personally.. Your abrupt exit is shocking and leaves a huge void gasping for filling! Rest in Peace. Amen.
For a man who spoke to the liberation of Man with a focus on Africa, It will be insistent on ignorance to say rest in peace as farewell to him; Death on one side is Birth on another. Wishing him abundance on His Journey.
What an eye opening talk. Thank you for impacting the world with sharing your talents, knowledge and gifts RIP Prof Pius. May God console your family, amen. Now I'm going to read your write up on "Parable of the Shower Head"
You were indeed a great son of Nigerian and Africa as a whole! As a proud African who did not know you in life am proud to know you and despite the pain of losing you, your great work will go on for years to come. May your soul rest in peace!!
requiescat in pace, dear professor. may your words live on and inspire others. May God help your family and loved ones to find comfort from others in this time of great distress
Isn't he stating that man is central to technology and convenience. He is the agent to be served by mans innovations and this has been the case since prehistoric man. He states it clearly, when man is no longer the agent, they become a robot.
It's always sad for us all as human that we never know, listen and appreciate good things until it's gone. Pro. Pius Akinsunmi as a Muslim I say : Inna lillahi Wa inna Ilehin Roji hun mean from God we come and back God we shall go back. I pray for Allah to forgive urs and mine Sins and grant you peaceful rest and Paradise. Aameen!!
Oh gosh! That same technology that has removed man's intervention in logical action occurred in the plane that took you and many others. May you rest well with the angels. Adieu!
MY God so sad. May his soul rest in peace. This man's speech just remind me of what one woman said in "wake up Africa" She said truth about the ethiopian airline crash is yet to be known.
This same thing he talked about was caused his untimely death along with other people. The need for human input in the fast-growing and cutting edge technological advancement. Continue to rest Prof.
I don't agree with a lot of this man's points. One of the most fundamental arguments he makes is that technology is meant to make people's jobs easier. Isn't a self driving car easier than having to keep your hands on the wheel and worry about the possibility of crashing because of a simple mistake?
But when hundreds of thousands of drivers are jobless and with no means of livelihood, then you have a big problem. The collaborative effects of unbridled capitalism and advancements in technology are causing an assault on the human pocket and unless we address this reality, even technology will slow down as there would not be enough demand for it. Virtually everything in the US, UK, UAE etc is made in China because there is almost no concern given to the environment, workers' welfare or rights over there (production is cheaper). I think it is too high a price to pay for economic growth- jobless people in developed countries, illness and an absence of opportunity for those who supply the goods.
Toxxaluvier You're right, they all lose their jobs and have to re-skill and find something else. The same exact thing that has happened to everyone that's ever worked in a typewriter maker and distributor, the guys that made VCR's, milkmen, the guys that delivered ice for people's ice boxes, and a million other jobs that no longer exist because technology changed and made their jobs obsolete. This is nothing new. Jobs come in and out of the market. What we need to start preparing for is the fact that people aren't going to need to work as much. Machines will take over all of the banal jobs. Fast food, driving, most of the production industry in general, will all be gone because machines can easily do things better, faster, and cheaper than humans. Right now, the technology is relatively new. Eventually, China won't be able to compete. The key is renewable energy. Once there is more of that, it won't be an issue. The problem that will stem from it is a reemergence of searching for purpose. Regardless of what anyone believes, that purpose boom will happen. Science can't explain everything, and neither can any religion, even if they try to. We will need to find a reason to keep moving forward when people take of their blinders on both sides.
Man will one day preside over the funeral of driver-less cars and seek something better. There will no end to innovation. The world is losing its humanity to technology. Africa has what what the world is losing-Humanity. Technology cannot replace that. Africa is the foward that the world must face.
@@karla4257 It's poignantly sad that the same gorging on “innovation"; man's relentless and insatiable appetite for technology, that Prof talked about in this TEDx presentation, led to his death. Africa lost a true son. Nigeria lost a colossus.
He's saying we've lost the human element/spirit by the way we do things and we call it moving 'forward'? Africa is the only continent that still possesses this human spirit in abundance so, the rest of the world should look to Africa. Brilliant.
Here is the message. Man will one day preside over the funeral of driver-less cars and seek something better. There will no end to innovation. The world is losing its humanity to technology. Africa has what what the world is losing-Humanity. Technology cannot replace that. Africa is the forward that the world must face.
